Why not celebrate the collaborative nature of this venture like Branson himself does. The British jingoistic press are hyping it as an all British thing. They are good at that. Despite Branson’s tax evasion misdemeanours, which he manfully admits as a poor show now, I have a lot of respect for many of his views and philanthropic ventures.

It's the first in Europe Micky but the launch is in the uk, maybe do a bit more background reading? The satellites are interesting in themselves. If all goes well the launch will be viewable on Youtube Virgin Orbit around 10pm. Sorry not going to let the social area down, so will leave it at that.

I’m not disputing this, the plane carrying the rocket takes off in the U.K. The subsequent launch from that plane then certainly blasts off from Europe! No issue with either of those facts. I too hope this collaboration is a great success. Never said anything else! This truly is a joint venture with American and European companies involved!

Good to visit both WN and Mrs WN, and wish her Happy Birthday in person. Weather has been much better today, with just the occasional shower this evening. Glad to say that the flooding on the site has just about gone, but many of the fields we passed on the drive to our visit were under water.

I was hoping that as well, TammyG, But sadly I got a call from my tame mechanic (
) who said it appears to be an engine problem and asked me to telephone a local "strip & rebuild" company first thing in the morning.
For a while I have a Fiat Punto courtesy car that, with great care, I can just about get into so will have to write down it's reg no so I don't lose it on the S/market carpark.

All over the local news, Cosmic Girl taking off from Spaceport Cornwall. I’m not really into this sort of thing but good to see so many excited people. Nice that it’s in Cornwall, they say it will open up many jobs there in the future, that can’t be a bad thing.

Oh well, looks like another day for Cosmic girl, hope there are duplicate satellites in store somewhere.... in the SW we've been following this on the news for a long time. I think it's inspired a lot of youngsters.

Oh dear, I have just read the news, all was on track when we went to bed, what a blow for them. But with it all being so complicated I suppose it’s early days. That insurance company must have taken a big hit. I moan about our caravan insurance but can you just imagine what that will cost in insurance next time around.
A very grey, wet day here, they do say there will be a small window of dry weather later, so hopefully I can fit in a short walk. I need it as my back is playing up. Otherwise there are a few cupboards that need sorting out.

Just the Jumbo leaving Newquay must have been a marvellous sight. Fingers crossed it all goes well next time.
We have a test flight of our own today…….off to view a couple of cars not too far away. One is located on an old RAF base, so hoping we can wang it around a bit, give it a proper test run🤭 Raining cats and dogs here, absolutely foul, normally a day for avoiding doing much outdoors, but needs must…….

Good luck to your OH today, Goldie. 4 of our friends have recently had or are about to have knee replacements - the 2 who have had it done are racing round like spring chickens now. Testament to what our NHS is capable of, given the chance. 👍

Unfortunate news about Cosmic Girl - it's an ambitious project and bringing much needed income and jobs to Cornwall so I hope they will be able to identify the problems and go ahead in the near future.
We live near Cotswold "airport" at Kemble - they have had a number of jumbos and other large aircraft arriving over the past few years, either for scrappage or just taken out of commission. It's an incredible site to see them flying into a small airfield like that. Must have been very exciting for those lucky enough to witness it last night.

Sad to hear of LauncherOne’s failure but some good news that Cosmic Girl’s part in this venture was totally successful. There are other launches planned for this year, some directly from UK soil, later in the year. Let’s hope for a better conclusions then!
I remember some years ago going to watch Concorde visit Humberside Airport, The sound and sight of such an aircraft at this small airport was fantastic, just a shame the place is a shadow of that planned all those years ago.

Moulesy I remember those Jumbo's at Kemble airport and seeing them without engines etc.
A dry day here and some sunshine so topped up the bird feeders and OH has managed to get excess rainwater from the top of the small pool cover and pumped into a spare water butt he nearly got me sprayed with water too cold for that ha ha.
Had a delivery this morning of a new full mattress cover via Amazon so that will be this afternoon's chore as the newish mattress not easy to move about no handles on the side like our old English one, gosh it is all so exciting roll on Spring and some of my daffs are poking through the ground and my winter honeysuckle is out in flower and has got some small bees on it today.

I've heard some strange tales of folks having to travel to get health treatment but the one I heard about the other day stood out as madness. Local man from here in North Wales was sent via the health board's own hospital staff to have a pre-op and operation to London. The operation was removing a growth, from an organ, not particularly unique. The board paid to have him driven down and back for his pre-op and he spent 2 nights in a "filthy hospital" (his words) for the operation. When he returned and saw his own local doctor he was told that had the doctor known about it he could have been sent to Birkenhead on the Cheshire Wirral.
Who oversees these sort of out of area expenses and agreements? Nothing much wrong with the staff in NHS but a big change needed in Management.
A few years ago I drove Mrs.WN to Runcorn on a Saturday morning to have a cataract op. About 30 other people were there from North Wales for the same reason, who had been picked up by mini-bus from as far away as Bangor.The staff who performed the op were also from N.Wales, Wrexham hospital, being paid overtime. They couldnt do it at Wrexham as they didn't have the support staff!!! Quite mad.

Filthy day today but Mrs WN drove in to Chester to have her broken tooth seen to. She walked the last mile in rather than park in the city.
We stopped our Denplan from 1st.January, typical luck, but the Dentists gave her this one free of charge! Very thoughtful of them.They did recommend that we consider the reduced plan so will look at that.
She also received a lovely birthday card from a very kind friend so that took the pain away for a while.

Our dentist's version of Denplan has shot up and we're teetering on just paying up per visit unfortunately between us our teeth are teeth aren't going to improve much so it's a bit of a dilemma. However when I found our how much one of our daughter's has to pay just for a check up it's not easy to work out which is best....she booked herself in and then found her aching teeth were due to Covid but is going ahead with the appointment later this month.
We escaped the confines of home this morning, lots of fields under water here, luckily the water has subsided from the roads we use. Had a wander round Clarks Outlet, OH found a pair of cords that actually fit so all happy.

We have bought a car, nice Mini Clubman. Got everything we want and need for a great price. Just enjoying lunch in a fantastic new Restaurant called The Motorist. Brilliant for anyone who likes all things motoring, and food is lovely.

Our dentist via Denplan charges £320 per year which entitles you to 2 annual examinations and 1 hygienist visit if I have understood the charging correctly? What I don't know is what else is included within the Denplan fee. However if you go private it's £51.66 per 10 minutes. We decided some years ago to opt for just one annual inspection and we don't use the hygienist (dentist has never pressured us to do so) we then pay for any work on an as you go basis. Margaret will need some serious work soon which wouldn't be covered by Denplan anyway. Just a question of having the courage to get an estimate for the work needed.
Margaret had her Cataract operation today on her left eye. She was referred by the Optician at Boots who was concerned how long it was taking, having had her appointment at MK hospital cancelled several times ( in truth no where near as long as some wait!) She wrote to the NHS on Margaret's behalf and she seems to have got fast tracked. It was done at a private hospital here in MK who are contracted to the NHS. She was only away a couple of hours and now back home with an transparent eye patch.

Jealous now Brue, I love a mooch around Clark’s Village. Problem is as we get older it gets further away, funny that. We have decided to visit next month and combine it with a visit to Wells, where we also love to go, and stop locally overnight instead of trying to do it in a day as we used to.
I’ve managed to clean out a few kitchen cupboards today. OH has been sorting in the loft. Living in hope I asked if he’d managed to find much to get rid of, but he said no, but that he’d put small things in boxes so he said it looks better! He is such a hoarder.
My back has been playing up for a week now,(I’ve had an occasional back problem for many years) OH has just come down to tell me his back hurts, it must be catching, or I just can’t have anything without him getting it.

I’ve been getting regular updates from husband Henry. He seems almost to be enjoying the experience, But had a very painful night as the epidural wore off. He said he could hear talking during the operation, but not feel anything. I’m wondering if he could hear the sawing and drilling etc as they replaced bone with plastic.
Some of the updates he gives me come under “too much information”. They are monitoring liquid input and output. Say no more.
He was originally on the list (from February) for Westmorland General (Kendal), But in August they rang and asked if would like to be referred to a private hospital in Preston. FOC. It’s still been 4 months since his first appointment there.
On all the booklets he got from there it says NHS. And also on the menu choices sheet. The actual treatment is the same as private, just the extras differ. For example, he said he got a free newspaper this morning - but it was the Daily Mail! What do paying patients get?
He’s expecting to come home tomorrow. A good job it’s not tonight, the roads are flooding round here.
