Yes, it is just outside SinE, on an old airfield. Everything looks quite new, the buildings, the workshops, the restaurant. Some nice cars there. It’s where the spin off from Bangers and Cash is filmed, where they do the restoration work, so some interesting vehicles in. Food was lovely. We pick our car up next week (Church Fenton Airfield), so will probably call in again.

    Lovely old Alvis in restaurant….

OH was an Alvis enthusiast TDA so I showed him the pic. Glad to hear you've found a car for yourself.

Goldie I hope your OH makes a good recovery and also David K's Margaret. Thanks for the dentist info, I've got another session at our dentist this month, I think I'll set up camp there?! frown

"For example, he said he got a free newspaper this morning - but it was the Daily Mail! What do paying patients get?"

Well, paying patients probably get a supply of comfy, soft toilet paper. Non payers are obviously provided with an alternative!  laughing

Never got round to going but fellow members of a car group I’m involved in arrange meets there several times a year. They rave about it. I must make the effort and take my pride and joy along, on your recommendation of course. 😉👍

Dentist for me this morning while OH went shopping at Aldi plus click and collect at Waitrose.

I had one tooth, beyond saving, extracted, and one repaired, plus 3 X rays....£140

Not feeling great right now, no lunch or dinner, but OH is plying me with drinks.  Have taken paracetamol, which does help.

    Hopefully better tomorrow.

Best wishes to your OH goldie.

Wet and cold up here today.

Glad to hear Mrs WM's dental treatment is completed, and painless as far as cost was concerned!!

Hope your OH is able to get home tomorrow, Goldie, they certainly don't hang onto their patients long at all these days if they can help it. Fingers crossed that he is soon out of any pain following his op.

Kjell, that sounds like a reasonable price these days for the amount of dental work you had done today. Hope you are feeling better tomorrow.

Tda good to see that you have found the little motor you were searching for.

OH has had a sore leg for a week or so and it has steadily got worse over time. Today we had a shortish walk in Stanney Woods on our way to Cheshire Oaks and when there the pain was such that we only did a short circuit of the shops, with me arming her round for much of the way. She is resting now after having taken pain killers and hopefully following the rest the leg will not be as painful tomorrow, when we move on to our next destination. It has been a very wet morning with a break around 11:00 but further showers during the afternoon .

Yes, OH said he might make the effort. Most of our vehicles are either old, or a bit niche, so we might make the effort this year as well. We can take our VW AS and MG or Jeep to one at York Racecourse, and there’s a Mini meet at the Cafe. Both within an hours drive. OH loves car shows, I confess I get a tad glassy eyed after about an hour. I left him at Racecourse last year drooling over all sorts while I cycled into York for a wander around.

Best wishes for those undergoing treatment. I have had my first full day off today from caring for Mum, that’s from 31st October, so it’s been a real treat. She’s a bit more stable at the moment bless her, so hoping we can lighten our duties every once in a while, and have a day out. Meantime, we just enjoy small things, make a few plans. OH is building me a new bike, a road bike this time, so it’s something to look forward to when I get the chance👍

Nellie, sorry to hear about your OH, not good for you as I know you love your walking. Hopefully, some pain relief and a bit of rest might work wonders. My plantar has flared up this week, very sore, so I am hobbling at the moment. ☹️

Today I’ll have a look at planning a few visits. Possibly to the Motorist. We keep an eye on Tennant’s Auction House for when they have their Classic Car sales too.  Book the Motorhome in at Lower Wensleydale site just 10 mins walk away. An enjoyable visit but have never bought anything, if only but seen lots I’ve lusted over! They  also have a good cafe and restaurant. Been to other sales there too. Worth a visit, very interesting!
The Mathewson Car Auctions and viewing days of classic vehicles at Thornton le Dale is good too, staying at The Howard site Rosedale Abbey which is about 20 mins car ride away.

That’s my plan for the day sorted, sort the coming seasons visits.

Did watch a few of Bangers & Cash whilst World cup was on and even OH managed a few programmes, he saw an old Austin Cambridge like we had same colour in good condition plus a few others like old Land Rovers, he is not into really old cars and not sports cars although I did see a Morgan with MOG 69 reg on it having been around the Morgan factory a few years ago as Xmas treat from friends very interesting, I am amazed at what some folk have in their car collections and some of the old car finds in garages, sheds and barns.

Back to wet weather again yuck and it was lovely yesterday and we may get some snow showers next week, it has been a bad start for folks who enjoy skiing as there has been little snow about but now improving not our thing but enjoy the views with snow on the mountains. Tda we had the local Cahors cycling group go pass us yesterday and shouting Bonjour gosh they do talk loudly to each other, would say that it is the old group looks like they are all over 70 and wearing some very bright coloured cycling gear, a lot of bikes for sale on our local selling site and for types of terrain including battery ones.

Huge change in our weather this morning, calm sunny start now 40mph + winds and torrential rain...just inspecting leak in roof in outdoor room and totting up replacing a very long run of stock fencing,  had to abandon it and get inside.

Managed to book MOT for motorhome yesterday, garage chap too busy to answer phone etc so we're running late on that one.

Redkite mentioned "Over 70s cycle group"..my BIL joined one in Bristol, he only managed one session, they vanished over a city hill and left him behind!!

A watery view of local fields, probably lapping onto the roads today.

Never impressed with folk telling the world about the excellent meal they had on their travels and even less chuffed with them saying they have bought a nice  car when my Ducky is looking at a couple of months in the Sick Motor Bay while its engine is stripped and rebuilt so it appears SORN looms very soon  cry.

Still, I must congratulate you on your good fortune -- now I will go shopping for an increased  supply of 'Man--size '  tissues

Sorry Brian about the food mention🙂 We love old cars, interesting cars. The car park alone at The Motorist had some nice stuff in visiting, including a Mustang. We used to go to Mathewsons way before it became so famous, not sure if the little museum is still there, they might no longer have room. Check the Winter opening times Micky if you do decide to go to The Motorist.👍 We used to go to huge Classic Car show at the NEC years ago, so have been to a Coys Auction😱Megamoney paid for stuff. My sister has a Vanden Plas Princess 1300 tucked away in her garage. Needs a lot of work doing, but better than the state some of the stuff they sell in B&C.

Hope you stay dry Brue, nice fencing, I love that old stuff. My OH is very kind if we go out together, he knows I can’t go at his pace, so he takes care of me. I have been using a Mountain bike, so hopefully a road bike will let me keep up a bit easier. We try not to use our electrics unless we have to, but the hills around us are “challenging”🤭

I have decided to check out my State Pension forecast today, see if I need to top it up. Not close yet, but I think there’s a cut off for sorting things out in March, so I need to get on with it. Hate tasks like this☹️

A certain newly minted OAP did exactly that Ttda.

Easy calculation is that any NI contributions put in will take about 30 months to be paid back in increased pension. That's if you are a few years short. You can go back a few years as well if inclined.

Actually  had a walk between  showers this morning. Couldn't  believe we got away with it. Very breezy again.

Glad your OH back home he will feel better in his own home and bed, just tell him to take it easy for awhile.

Well the local army base Caylus is back after Xmas break we have had 1 large helicopter go over and the 4 prop engine airbus A400 go over a few times and very low prefer them to the jets less noise so it will be the Rifle ranges turn next.

Will be back to the Gilets Jaunes protesting again at big roundabouts as the latest retirement age pension  proposals are out and will have a 3 month increase every year until 2030 so from 62 years to 64 years the new retirement age a bit different to UK system.

Thanks WN. Sadly, I lost an hour and a half of my life this afternoon, simply could not access the website, kept telling me I was putting in wrong information. Waited 45 minutes for someone to answer my call, same result😡 I don’t seem to exist. I know all my own details, am using correct NI number, but no something is wrong, but we cannot tell you what. So I shall have to try and get through to tax office now, which is apparently next step🤷‍♀️ I am not best pleased as you might imagine.

The Denplan basic costs us about £16.50 per head per month, for that we get 2 check ups per year and 2 hygienist sessions, then the rest is PAYG with a 10% discount on the full private price, so could get expensive if one needs much done.

Cannot remember if our dentist also had  a more expensive Denplan offering that covered more treatment.

I pay £26.50 a month on Denplan which gives me 2 check ups a year and 2 hygienist sessions, also includes xrays,  fillings etc including dentist work on crowns but I do have to pay for dental technicians time.

Dry during the day but we know have heavy rain, rivers are high but no flooding so far.

Food shopping today, Tescos won out on this occasion as we had a £6 off voucher to use if we spent £40. Not hard to that these days is it.

This afternoon was a 2 hour video call with out pals, I do like these calls as we have a good laugh, much better than just  phone call.

Despite pleas from the FM and the NHS we were the only ones wearing face masks in the shops. Happy to wear them as we are only just getting over having colds which were bad enough, the last thing we need now is to catch anything else.

Why not do it the old fashioned way via by posting a BR19 Form? I once had trouble getting a pension forecast and we eventually found out that when I applied online they didn't like my address despite having lived there for 25 years (at the time) They still had on record my original Southampton address!! Clearly it didn't cross my mind that I should have informed them but at the time I was over 30 years away from getting my state pension! Once that was cleared up the forecast came pretty quickly. The forecast can be quite complicated depending on the number of years NI that has been paid and also the number of state pension schemes you have been a member of, Graduated, SERP's etc. Obviously everyone's circumstances are different and it can depend on whether private pensions are involved. Good luck!

Thank you DK. Mine should be straight forward really, one address, one employer, same NI number, same address, same birthday, same name🤷‍♀️ Not sure why it won’t let me create a you.gov account. Apparently I need to contact tax office🤷‍♀️ The frustrating thing is they can’t/won’t give you any indication of what aspect is “invalid”. I will contact tax office, if no joy, true the old fashioned method.

It would be but I've not had any treatment in years, other than check ups and hygienist. It would just be my luck that if I went for a cheaper type package the dentist would decide I need something doing. 😟

I'm so glad that you will let us know when you do manage to do that laughing  good news that you are seeing progress.

Windy and very wet here today.

Took a drive out to our local dealers on the way to Dundee this afternoon (what else is there to do on a horrible day) managed to not spend too much money.

We did however see a lovely caravan, in fact we saw a few that we liked but 2 that we really liked. Bigger than the one we have, as big as the one we used to have, around 7m shipping length. If we spent all our time in the UK it would be the one we would choose.

Booked our ferry with BF for April and P&O for our return in June. Had a 'chat' with our friends who we were on holiday with last year, turns out they are on the same BF crossing as us and would you believe it, we are in the next cabin to each other surprised what's the chance of that happening. This year we are going our own separate ways, they want to explore France more and we fancy heading across to Italy. We are all off to the Scottish caravan show in a few weeks so be great for a meet up.
