Just looking in to catch up with the news and the lovely photos. 🙂
It's been a busy couple of weeks, trying to do everything I can before Thursday and the start of my 3 weeks of radiotherapy, hoping it will be finished by Christmas, as long as the dates don't change due to the nurses striking.
Went to check the caravan over the weekend, all okay with the van but when we came to leave our fob wouldn't open the electric gates! 😱 Luckily when we phoned the storage owner he was able to open the gates remotely phew! We might have been stuck there while he came back, as he was away from the farm.
Had a visit from youngest son and his girlfriend over the weekend, lovely to catch up with them both. Also visited the Victorian Market in town, although didn't buy anything.
Having a meet up later with friends and neighbours, early Christmas drinks. 🥂🎄

We’ve had a very busy few days. Youngest 9 year old granddaughter came to stay at the weekend, cupcake making and icing, a visit to the garden centre to buy more Christmas decs for her.
Then an urgent call, other granddaughters wheelchair playing up again. Also she had had passed out while out with friends, hit her head on a basin in the ladies and got concussion. The paramedics allowed her to return home on this occasion, rather than the usual trip to hospital. So off to Plymouth again, we shared the driving. This time we took her old electric wheelchair, which isn’t too reliable anymore but useful as a back up. Grandad set to work maintaining both chairs and I did some chores in her accommodation and some shopping for her. She was in good spirits when we left and insisting on going in for lecturers again today. Fingers crossed, both chairs seemed in better order.
None of this was helped that on the previous day she had waited an hour in the rain for a bus for the driver to refuse her as there was already a disabled person on the bus. She then travelled the 2 miles home in her chair in the rain. As there wasn’t any kerb drops on one stretch, on trying to get down the kerb she and the chair fell into the road, fortunately a gentleman stopped his car and helped her up. Think this had a lot to do with the chair playing up and her being unwell. Sometimes we don’t realise how hard it can be for the disabled, especially the young.
A visit to the hairdresser for me today, enjoyed the chat, the coffee and the rest.

Good advice from DEBSC, Helen. Ros went through it twice and it made her very tired each time. Just give into the tiredness and don't try to do too much and I'm sure you'll be fine.
Sitting here at the Bridlington site - half the site is closed and there's hardly anyone on the rest. Strange being here for the first time - considering it's only 30 minutes from home - and it's only just over £1pn. more expensive (for a fully serviced pitch) than the CL we usually use a few hundred yards down the road.
Spent all morning struggling with the new Veduta awning (the purpose of coming here) but it's now up - but it wasn't easy. I've just realised that the guy demonstrating it on the Thule video must have been at least 6'6" tall - made it look so simple rather than my comical antics perched on the top of a set of steps!
I can see a lot of things wrong with my setting up - but that's all knowledge for next time.

Love the view Cornersteady and all photos that you have posted, we went many years ago to the lakes when we had a tent and when we got to the site we were told to pitch in an old quarry area of the site and as it was Spring holiday we could not get on anywhere so came back home to Redditch and then next day went to South Devon to a site we had stayed on before and not far from the CAMC site Hillhead now and did not back to the lakes but perhaps we should although it maybe staying in a cottage like the ones you have stayed in.
A dryer day today with some glimpses of sunshine, having a quiet day today after having lunch with friends yesterday which was enjoyable.

Your Granddaughter sounds a real trooper Debsc, it’s not easy for anyone disabled, particularly if using a chair. When I used to take Dad out in his, it used to wind me up no end how some shops blocked aisles with extra baskets and display units😡 And as for those who block footpaths parking half on and off🤬 Best wishes for her.
You too Helen, keep your spirits up, hope things go well. Enjoying folks’s photos and tales. A foggy day here as well, good bit colder as well. Past years, it wasn’t unknown for us to have snow this time of year, but no sign of that.
I have just booked Mum’s gardeners to give our garden a Winter clean up. I haven’t the time to do anything at the moment at home. OH is getting on with lots of tasks though, but he’s not a huge gardening fan. It’s like being back at work again at the moment, except the hours are very long, the pay’s abysmal and the days off and holidays are none existent😱

Had a trip into CMK today to do some shopping, it was surprisingly busy, although should I be surprised as its less that four weeks until Christmas! We redeemed our free coffee and cake vouchers in the JL Place to Eat. I thought the Christmas display in Middleton Hall was a bit brighter than usually so good that they are ringing the changes.

I've just spent the morning crawling round the garden doing our Christmas lights...they don't look quite as good as that DK! Have to get them ready for our street "switch on" at the weekend. Now feeling cold and damp from the all day dripping fog, have left one set til the last minute as we are expecting our "hedge man" back this week and I don't want him to slice through anything.Best wishes to Helen, hope everything goes to plan.
Good that you can help your granddaughter Debsc and you've enjoyed your hairdresser visit today.

A drive into and slow lazy wandering around Grasmere. There was some lingering mist which returned mid afternoon and quite dense as well. Yet a few miles out sunshine again. A great day here even in the towns and valleys.

Little Nathan is still not co-operating with taking his medicine, but he does not seem to be getting any worse, and hopefully is getting the benefit of some of the antibiotic.
The other Grandparents have not come to look after the children on their usual Monday and Tuesday rota as Grandad has been treated for prostate cancer that had spread, so at risk, so I/we have been there instead.
Yesterday I was down there for breakfast at 08.30, and OH came mid morning after doing washing and dishwashing at home. Then we were there for dinner as DD and SIL had to go to a dress rehearsal for SIL's drama group show on Friday. I went home after dinner to do stuff, OH was there till they returned some time after 10pm, so it was a very long day.
Our builders suddenly decided they could start our bathroom renovation tomorrow (Wednesday) with only 48 hours notice rather than the 7 days we had requested, so that is not ideal when one of us has to be at DD's. We had agreed that we would remove certain items we wanted to keep, before they come to rip out the rest, plus there are cupboards to empty and protecting carpets to organise.
Today I was down there early again, OH came later. Callum goes to Tae Kwando on Tuesday afternoons, so I came home while OH looked after Nathan, he is possibly still contagious so cannot go anywhere. I still have some items to remove from the bathroom.
I will need to be at DD's for 9am tomorrow so she can get on with her work, so OH will be dealing with the builders. Probably the same on Thursday, Friday is still to be decided.
Then I have a Craft Fair to go to on Saturday, and a pile of stuff to pack up first.

Bathroom destruction now in full swing. Builders arrived much earlier than we had expected, followed rapidly by a skip for the debris. The bathrooms are all fully tiled, and as I did it all myself I know those tiles are VERY well stuck, so all the walls, which are plasterboard, have to go. We have covered up what we can as the dust goes everywhere, but no doubt there will still be a big clean up job afterwards.
I am down at DD's on childcare duty while OH is at home to make any decisions that need to be made.......making a decision on anything in a bathroom is way above my pay grade!!
Hopefully it will all be done by the end of next week.

Had some help in the garden today, last bits of tidying up etc although we don't go to town and leave some things til the Spring. Still foggy and cold with some more cold on the way next week, brrr.....

My daughters partner is contracted to Wicks for bathroom installations and will not start on a bathroom untill all the materials are in stock or on site as in the world as it is it can take a very long time if anything is not already in stock or on site to get it

We want to have the original house bathroom redone professionally as the several makeovers it has had over the years have been done by me and I neither have the energy or inclination to go through that again!! We really must get our fingers out and start looking. We had the kitchen done by Wickes so we may well go back to them, at least as a starting point.

Its been bright and clear here for a couple of days Brue (for a change) and we can’t be that far away from you.
Another granddaughter has come to stay for a bit. She walked in the door, said hello, then, I’m hungry. Her playlist doesn’t seem to be working so OH asked her if she wanted to listen to mine. ‘NO!’ She has offered to paint my nails for me though.
OH decided to mend a small garden ornament and has managed to superglue his fingers together 🤭. However, the garden ornament won’t stick.

Totally mist or fog bound today but apparently fog free from about above 1000 feet. Still very atmospheric walking and driving about in the lower valleys and yes we came out of the mist on Newlands pass as in the picture. Found a great tearoom in Buttermere.

My oldest friend's husband (who I have mentioned before) has been in our Sue Ryder hospice for a frw weeks. My friend has been in touch to tell me he died this morning. So very sad. We have all known each other since we were teenagers.
I am sorry your grandson is having such a difficult time with his antbiotic medicine KJ. I hope he gets better soon. I hope all goes well with your new bathroom. It sounds as though you are having a very challenging time.
We had a brief spell of weak sunshine at lunchtime. Other than that it has been grey and misty. Our garden is a mess with the grass needing a cut and covered with leaves.
On the bright side we are off to see our youngest son and family in N. Ireland tomorrow for a few days.

We, or really OH, have sourced all the bathroom fittings ourselves......Ideal Standard back to wall toilet, Ikea basin plus various cupboards, taps, counter tops, Aqualisa shower, Mira 1200x900 shower tray, Kudos shower enclosure, electric towel warmer, electric fan heater, new radiator, new downlights, 24 sq m of tiles, and LVT flooring. All purchased on line.
Builders are supplying all other required new materials and doing most of the work, I will paint new ceiling and lay LVT.
It is a bit sad to see the old bathroom go, it has been in the house 34 years, still in excellent shape, and was pink..... chosen by MIL as it is in the granny flat. Only changing it as we wanted an easy access shower rather than one over the bath.
Pity it is happening so late in the year as it is very cold in the house with doors open for removal of debris, but we have been in the queue for these most excellent builders for a few months, they are always very busy. This is their second job for us, plus they have done 3 jobs for our son and 3 for our daughter, so they are like family now!
They are also very tidy and clear up any mess every evening, so much in demand.

Sorry about the delay in responding to you, M, Brian and Millie. After a lovely day when we arrive we have had freezing fog yesterday, and heavy cloud today and it has been rather quite chilly. Because of the fog we left the Tolkien walk until today and instead had a couple of Quiet Lanes walks from Newton and Slaidburn. Today we did the northern half of the Walk from Hurst Green, past Stonehurt College, round to the Cromwell bridge and back to the car. It is the first time that we have encountered artificial turf along nearly half a mile of path, above a valley stream leading to the R.Hodder!😮 I didn't dare take Flyte onto the bridge, and OH was having none of it either, so I walk on solo.😁 We have done some of the river walk from the other side, and also up at Sawley too when we stayed there at the beginning of February. Not sure if we will get into town tomorrow, but I might just walk down and have a look for Cowmans.
Lovely photos, millie, the cathedral would have looked spectacular with them lit.

Good luck with decorating etc Kj. We are aiming to do our hall before Christmas, vain hope but we have samples of paint stuck to various walls to assess colours, so a start at least. We had a few hours at Donna Nook today to see the baby seals. There are over 1500 at the moment apparently, they are so cute when young. Dull weather but at least it wasn't windy or wet! Sorry to hear of your friend's husband, Millie; we haven't had a good year for losing friends either so we have to count our blessings. Hope all the treatment and medicines go OK and hope everyone is well soon.

Went to a very good friends on Monday to greet her on her birthday. Had a chitchat with her hubby, who I have known since he was a Leading Choirboy ( at my local church ) some sixty odd years ago . Sadly he has bulked up rather due to the inability to walk much since his knees are in dire need of total refurbishment and I'm wondering if somebody working for Wickes might have a spare knuckle joint or two in order to help him along
. Nevertheless we had a right good natter as another member of the footy team I used to play for and sometimes run, turned up and proved just how derelict I'm becoming since he stood upright, bent from the waist & put the palms of both hands flat on the floor . Raised a giggle when I said that I can do that but who the heck's going to pick me up afterwards 
.Now I'm going to adjust the wristwatch for a thirty-day month.
Keep warm, dry and taking the tablets, back with you all next month { tomorrow
