I know how you feel WN. I still get days when I feel very fatigued and it is over a year now.  I have to pace myself which I don't find easy! But the days when I do feel tired are not so often and I am told it will get better in time. Wishing you all the very best. Try not to do too much on your good days. Easier said than done I know!

Had a nice day with my sister and BIL, sister and I did part of a local art trail, in and out of private homes, all sorts of creative offerings and interesting things. It feels quite strange going into people's homes but also familiar, some had food on the go, so cooking smells and fires lit, all very welcoming.

Take your time WN, you sound as though you are making steady progress so you're allowed "off days."

Do hope your little grandson improves soon KJ, as others have said impetigo is very infectious for all involved.

Sorry you can't go away as hoped Francis, something to look forward to later on!

TDA did the car search succeed?

Starting to get very early Christmas cards, must finish ours and get sorted! 🌲

    Just read my post again?

For little green read little grebesurprised

I think it was a bit much for both of us yesterday as we have both been feeling tired and  have only been out to Tesco Express. For paper

Without rails on the steps it is difficult to get OH in and out of camper

We have some nice neighbours, who told me off as they were going out shopping?

Santa specials running today steam to p/boro and diesel on other end for return with a real amature driver pulled away from station it seemed completely oblivious that the wheels on the diesel were not gripping rails and spinning at about twice the speed they should have been undecided

We were going home tomorrow but are now staying untill Monday. Morning  as realised will not get parked with camper with trailer near house, hopefully most of the cars will be gone monday

A damp day but still a lovely day for us spent wandering around Ambleside which looked great with the Christmas lights on.

Hope your grandson takes his medicine and is soon on the road to a full recovery, Kj.

Sorry to read that you are fatigued today, WN. Take your time getting fit again, better slow and steady does it than having lasting effects because of trying to rush things.

Tda, have you any idea when your mum will be let home?

I was out yesterday delivering a few Xmas cards, and will drop off more tomorrow prior to us head off on Monday. It has been a very dull day here with the odd short shower, but have so far managed to get our walks in without getting wet.

Yes, OH was reading all about the necessary precautions,  I do hope we do not all catch it.

So far DD has tried to administer 2 doses of the antibiotic, but it is certainly not going well, most of it is just  being spat out again, accompanied by a lot of screaming.    She will contact her own GP first thing on Monday to see what they say, there must be a better way!

Any chance of bribing him? Perhaps his favourite sweets or maybe mix it with some ice cream? In the words of the song, a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down! I suspect they are made to taste unpleasant to discourage children taking them when they shouldn't?

Try putting some on a sugar cube or on a little jam on a spoon. We used to do this with our two to get foul tasting medicine down them.

Happy travels, you are well organised! Hoping we might venture out late New Year, just a local trip.

Hope the KJs can make the medicine go down! Maybe tablets would be better hidden in a sweet?!

Been on cat duty this weekend. Son and wife been to London to see granddaughter. First long trip in his new electric car. He mentioned that he charged it at the MK P&R which is quite close to junction 14 on the M1 if anyone would find that useful. Probably less manic than the Service Areas on the motorway.

Back to the cats. Ragdolls don't seem as affectionate as some breeds of cats. The older, male, cat is not too bad but the younger female is still quite timid. At least they are fed and watered until their owners return this afternoon!

Mum has been home almost a fortnight now Nellie, but has all sorts of complications sadly. We are caring for her 24 hours a day at the moment, it’s a long haul. Fingers crossed though🤞

WN, don’t do too much, it’s still catching my OH out four months on from his op, give yourself a good day off every now and then.

Car hunting……OH still on a mission. He was off to look at a couple of Audi Quattro TT’s, then there was something at Matthewman’s (Bangers and Cash🙄) that caught his eye. He’s back on Mini’s at the moment, muttered something about towing a Cabrio behind the MH. I just listen, nod, and leave him to it.

At 22 months old I am not sure that he understands being bribed, but he certainly knows when you are trying to sneak the foul tasting stuff into him!

DD has tried mixing it with various foods he likes, without success.  She did manage to get him to swallow some of it this morning, but he was still very upset and wailing loudly.

K, don’t use a spoon, use a syringe for mixed substance. Mix it with some smooth jam or lemon curd, make sure first bit out is all curd or jam, then just fire it in. It’s a lot harder to spit out from back of throat. Good luck👍

    A thoughtful neighbour JVB.

Have cracked on here with renovations, painting and floor done in cloaks cupboard, sorted "stuff" going back in and coats now on hangers with a proper rail....wink other stuff going to charity shop.

As we're having a quiet Christmas, just four on Christmas day I have things to pack and send off so have spent some time wrapping up things etc. Also sending home made cake to son and grandson as DIL is "gluten free" and they like their cake but will leave the icing to them! Our DIL has to get her final PhD work in just after Christmas and I will breathe a sigh of relief to hear it, a long and interrupted haul!

Another haul next week will be getting the Christmas lights out and into the garden for our street light up, it's too early for me but I don't really mind the effort as it will all look cheerful. There have been questions about electricity usage but the consensus is to go ahead and enjoy it. smile

Hope your Mum is comfortable at home TDA, we have a friend who has been stuck in hospital since August.

David It is also not just the problems getting a parking space you know some areas of our "City"  where we live vehicles have to park with one side on the grass , as the road is not wide enough not to if vehicles parked with both set of wheels on the road ,  emergency fire appliances and the Coop drivers following sat nav directions would not get through

Our road as most in our "city"is tree lined with grass verge then tarmac footpath then another grassed verge so home charging of EVs is not really an option, without the problem of parking

Tda, I must have missed you saying that your mum was home, as she was still in hospital the last I read. Hope you are managing between yourselves. It has been a heck of a year for you, with OH's OP and your sister's accident on top of all this. Have you managed to get rid of your cold, as mine dragged on for over two weeks. 🤒

JVB, pleased to hear that you got home ok, and it was very good of your neighbour to hold the parking space for you. Hope you have managed to get some power into the chair lift and you OH is able to get upstairs now.

We did have some sunshine today but only for a short while and without the promised breeze the washing didn't dry outside. Again walks were mostly in the dry but I did get caught out in a short shower, when delivering more cards, after dinner.

Lovely day out with daughter and grand-daughter to Rushden Lakes today for some Christmas shopping and a nice gossipy lunch at Bill's Restaurant. Great range of shops and restaurants and only a 40-minute drive away. Managed to make a good start on the Christmas shopping.

Glad to hear that you are safely home JVB. What thoughtful neighbours you have.

Glad to hear that your Mum is home TDA but such a lot of work for you. Are you getting any help at all? I hope her recovery goes well.

I am having difficulty typing this as our little cat has decided to sit with me and 'help'!

Thanks Nellie, the fun actually got better as Mum, Sis and I all tested positive for COVID as well, probably acquired in hospital. Mum and I have had no symptoms, but Sis was more poorly. She tested negative after a week, went to do some shopping for us, all masked up, and some less than attentive fool in an Evoque shunted her from behind🤷‍♀️ I am wondering rather what I have done to deserve this year to be honest, but we plod on. OH is negative thankfully, and insurance has sorted Sis’s car.

Corner’s photos do look lovely. I’m another one though who never has The Lake District high on my list of places to visit. Never had nice weather, in fact usually absolutely foul whenever we go. Have climbed Helvellyn, Old Man of Coniston, Skiddaw, few others, but always in the rain☹️ As a child, camping with school, we got flooded out of our campsite at Low Wray, so I was tainted early😁

Wow, Low Wray, that brought back memories!  Tent camping in the late 70's at Low Wray campsite, Vango Force 10 tent; 2 of us plus a beagle.  Easter time, woke up on Good Friday to a deep covering of snow, eerily quiet, beagle loved jumping about in the snow.  Going home that day after a 4 night stay, OH left his watch in the showerblock; only discovered after setting off.  Way before mobile phones of course, so turned round and set off back to site, some kind soul had handed it in to reception.  Will never forget that.

Well done to your DIL re the PhD. Probably a hard slog? Our eldest son Paul was offered a place at Brookes, Oxford to do a PhD but having completed his original degree and a couple of Masters he thought he should start earning a living!!! Obviously working during the holidays in Waitrose wasn't enough!!!

Re the Lakes. It's not a place we take the motorhome. Not sure if Ravenglass counts as the Lakes as we did visit there this year. Our previous employers have a staff hotel in Ambleside (not as bad as it sounds!) and we have stayed there several times as there are lots of walks from the town which we have enjoyed. Bed, breakfast and evening meal was very reasonable and everything was good quality.  I did hear recently that they have been unable to provide the "dinner" element of it at the moment because they can't get the staff.  Similar to other establishments I imagine?

The Low Wray campsite is still in use, and at the moment one can have 2 nights in ones Campervan or M/H for £46 on a H/S pitch with EHU.

Years ago OH was always talking about holidaying in the Lakes I wasn’t so keen but finally gave in. On arrival and from the first second of seeing the scenery I just loved it. Since then we have been very regularly and I still find it ‘feeds the soul’. Just so beautiful.
