What are you all up to

Moulesy, pleased to read that all went well with the extraction. Hope you mouth is not too painful and you can get to sleep tonight.
JVB, sorry to hear of the problem over your OH's appointment. Hope you are able to sort it out, one way or another, tomorrow.
Francis, there has been an awful lot of rain in the Lakes over the last couple of weeks, so I think that there will be a lot of lying water on all of the caravan sites, especially around x Keswick.
Millie, we were able to book the commercial site we hoped to use at the start of our trip, so that's us fixed right through into the New Year. The site has an offer on through November up to the week before Christmas for couples over 65, and it's as cheap as any of the CLs that we have booked. I will add it to the list of non-club sites after our visit, as we have not used it before.

And a Very Good Morning to you all !!
Sun shining brightly over South Cheshire, fone call yesterday [ Friday ] at 6.15-ish telling me that my meds are ready for collection but that means some time on Monday at the earliest since the 'shop' is closed over the week end. I thought that would be a fairly busy time actually even though the surgery is closed. Just hope all you dental { and other bits } patients have sufficient stocks to get them through the start of the Footy World Cup since grinding ones teeth can be oooooh so painful .
Take care, enjoy the sunshine and the weekend generally please

Hard to advise really JV. Simplest and safest thing for them to do is ask staff for help. Could be something simple🤞 But rather than wait for lots of answers, which might be different, let staff advise.

They have electricity for heating but no gas for cooking ,
And they have a microwave,so we have give them a couple of our parsley box meals and baby food can be heated in that as well
No more can be done but they have got allus Oldies as a fallback if it comes to

All credit to them for not packing up and going home, and to others for rallying around👍

Well the caravan went on Friday. The offer from a dealer, under the present circumstances, was very reasonable and even if we waited until Spring we may have been offered less if the cost of living situation/recession gets worse, who knows? Also we don’t have the worry of it over winter or the hassle of a private sale, so all good.
As you said Moulsey paying for storage, insurance, and servicing has cost us over £1200 a year for something that was getting more of a frustration than pleasure, for me anyway. Our caravan was just over 5 years old and next year we would have needed to replace the tyres, 4 as we had a twin axle, so another expense.
Many thanks to you all for the suggestions for future breaks. We will be booking something for Spring and next Summer once we’re sure what other duties we may be needed for with the family. The Club having lost its USP, although it really wasn’t a major concern, certainly made us think more about the potential problems of losing the flexibility we previously had before the new, complicated system came in. To us the Club seem to have lost the whole ethos of caravan and motorhome holidays. I know cottages, etc. all want deposits but we can work around that, but we were sorry to lose the ‘easy to jiggle about’ sort of freedom we had before.
Getting ready for the family here this weekend so all the sorting out of caravan contents will get done sometime next week. How did we carry all that stuff around with us?!!! 🤦🏻♀️

Fully agree TtDA !!
The old saying is " Nowt So Queer As Folk " but that only shows there is the full range of Reactions as well as Natures out there !! Very often those grumpy and miserable looking old Bleeps are amongst the very first to confuse everybody by mucking--in.

Today we said goodbye to the sun and warmth of the Algarve
We are now on site at Evora Monte and will cross back into Spain at Badajoz tomorrow, then onto Caceres for a few nights.
Weather has turn grey and much cooler, had a little rain earlier but now dry again.
Everywhere nice and quiet, think I like it here good time if year to visit.

Glad you got a decent price Heddlo. This last decade or so, we have mixed in some very nice cottage/hotel stays into our itinerary, and had some lovely places and great prices. Sure you will find the same, and if you can book late, there are often some truly great bargains, and unique places to stay.
Most envious of your break TG, it’s been a very overcast and damp day here in South York.
Hope the recovery is going well M👍
My day has been around 0.5 on the happy scale today. Haven’t even had the pooch for light relief……..🫣

Glad to read that you have got a good price for your caravan, heddlo. At least you don't have to worry about a private purchaser coming back with complaints after the sale. Hope you are able to find different styles of holidays to suit you both.
Tda, sorry to hear that you have not had the best of days and that it is still wet over your way.
JVB, hope you can get the appointment sorted out before heading off to the hospital. We
It has been fine again here today, so got a number of small jobs done in preparation for our trip, and all our walks out so far have been in the dry, for a change.

Glad that you got things sorted in your favour, heddlo. It will doubtless be a wrench to start with but there are lots of new adventures to look forward to now and, other commitments allowing, just as many opportunities to get away for breaks. As far as cottages go, although as with any booking, if you want somewhere specific at a certain date, you have to book well in advance, you may also find last minute bargains, particularly if you contact owners direct rather than going through companies. And lots of hotels offer "3 nights for the price of 2" breaks if you want a bit of extra pampering! So we wish you good luck for future holidays.

Glad you have got things sorted heddlo - although I should imagine it's been a real wrench to see it go. I do hope you keep posting on here, though. I always look forward to your comments as a fellow 'East Yorkshire person'. I know the time will come when health / mobility forces us down the same path but for now, I'm using technology to help beat those challenges - hence the recent additions of E&P and a Thule wind-out awning. I'm determined to hang on to my 'man-shed' for as long as possible
Off to Bridlington CAMC site next week to try out the new Veduta awning. Don't want to make a complete prat of myself when we go away for Christmas to Sandringham - so I'm hoping there might not be too much of an audience at Brid

I sense relief in your post Heddlo and hope everything works out, I expect you'll find eager recipients for some of the contents too. You can look forward to some nice alternative holidays!
Last night we saw the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra playing, a lovely concert with a wonderful solo violin player, Ning Feng. It was light relief as we have not had a good week after hearing a friend's husband died in an accident whilst out walking with friends, quite a shock all round.
A nice morning so out for a dog and mud walk whilst the sun is shining.

Glad you got it sorted Heddlo. Nothing worse than only one partner enjoying a joint hobby.
Also pleased to hear Moulesy's op went to plan. OH at the dentist on Thursday to finalise (hopefully) her problem.
Wonderful morning so we went for a longer walk. Not far by any means but far enough. More hand exercise when I got home. Goodness, it's a long process. Have to make lunch with a physio present tomorrow.
Had an enjoyable day yesterday as my cousin and her hubby came for an hour but stopped for 3.Great to have a laugh and catch up on normal news.

R&R , I would have settled for partial prat the first time we put up a full awning . Never has the saying Divorce in a Bag seemed so true . Promptly got rid of that and went for a porch one , now only occasionally get threatening letters from my wife's solicitor 😁.

When we decide to erect an awning "we" have a (one sided) conversation.
Mrs WN " Now we love each other don't we so we're not going to have any arguments are we?"
Me " Yes dear, no dear"
Mrs WN " So just do what I say eh?"
Me (mumbling) " As always my little piranha fish"
Cheaper than a divorce.

Haven’t had time to feel regret just yet R&R as visiting family this weekend. We are dog sitting today as they have all gone into York, hope they will be back for dinner we never get any timescales!!! I hope we can get permission to still keep posting as I enjoy reading everyone’s adventures. I’ll have to enquire how to go about that soon. Good luck with the new awning.

I don't think you need to worry about future posting. Once your membership lapses the first three posts thereafter will come up to be moderated by Admin (not mods) once you have those three posts approved you just carry on as before.
