Mille, we missed having a cat too and after a gap we found another rescue one, glad your new arrival is settling in well. Our local centre has a lot of cats in just now.

Nice to hear Helen enjoyed Cliveden, it's well worth a visit, the hotel bit looks extremely comfortable and still feels like a good country house as you walk through.

TG you've certainly covered a big area, interesting to hear about your travels.

Hope your next plans go well Nellie, you must know so many places!

Up early for food delivery, Brussels sprouts substitution is puzzling me....wink

Having a quick look in whilst having a coffee.

Just renewed the caravan insurance, which actually showed a small decrease! However I had to increase the amount insured as its still on New for Old. Nice to see something not increasing by substantial amounts. Wish I could say the same about the Household insurance. 30% increase so more looking around to do.

Have a 12.00 physio session today.

    Take care folks.

I've just amended our Landrover insurance. When I said I wanted to add an 18 year old, the insurer said "ouch!".

In the end it wasn't as bad as expected, although the excess has gone up. He asked if he would be using it for social occassions, or just for the farm. If you could see the state of the vehicle he wouldn't have needed to ask that.

Oh well!!..... looks as if we won't get out in the caravan again now until after Christmas.... just too much going on.  We were hoping to get out at least another once, but hospital appointments, concerts, practices and funerals (as an organist), seem to be coming in thick and fast....  I always think the best way of keeping the van in good condition is to use it, so we'll be out as soon as we can after Christmas.

On the subject of insurance... and pets (just been reading about Millie's cat).... Lizzie's dog insurance has come up for renewal.  Pet Plan now want to charge us a little over £100 a month!!!  The cover is excellent and covers existing conditions etc... and they are really good about paying out... etc. However it's been gradually going up year by year.  If we change now, existing conditions may well not be covered!!

She looks a lovely little cat Millie, gorgeous colour.  We haven’t had any animals for about 12 years now and, like you, we do miss a cat.  We have always had one or two, apart from the time we fostered our sons 3 cats then we had 5 for a year.  That was a bit OTT even for us!!  A bit of an aside but has anyone noticed the price of wild bird food 😱?  We have just bought a sack from our usual supplier and it’s doubled in price since January.  The Sunflower seeds were a huge price so sadly the birds will have to go without them.

I always get the bird food from Home Bargains, went to pick up our usual black sunflower seeds and stopped because of the price. I thought they had made a mistake but another customer said that she had just come from Sainsbury’s and they had a similar price rise. We both chose another option. I may be very wrong but doesn’t Ukraine normally grow a lot of sunflowers. If so maybe that is why.

Gosh David that's expensive pet insurance although I know your little dog has had quite a lot of treatment. I suppose you have to add up the monthly costs in comparison to what you actually spend....a bit like our dental fees which seem to go up and up!

Bird food, we buy mixed seeds, will no doubt find out on the next purchase round from ebay if the costs are going up. I suppose you could always grow a few sunflowers...we would have had some if the pigeons hadn't got there first, they like the whole plant no need to wait for the seeds!! wink

If your pet insurance was like ours David as with PetPlan, then besides the eye watering premium we paid as Cassie aged, they raised the 'Excess' percentage annually also. Come end up we cancelled and paid out ourselves for her continued treatment as it was financially beneficial.

I've just had the renewal quote for our caravan - from this Club and the premium has gone up by £100 from last year. I'm going to ring them later and see what I can do - but I can't see how they can justify that sort of increase.  And since that little 'puppy' in my avatar reached the ripe old age of 9, last Tuesday, I'm also expecting a big premium and excess increase this year.  I'm already paying more for her than for either the 'van or two cars!

Recovering from a busy day, yesterday.  Took the van to ALV at Tebay for it's annual service and for the fitting of the new Omnistor - 300 miles there and back - and in thick fog for most of the way.  Just couldn't understand the number of idiots on the motorway driving around with no lights on, in those conditions.

Bird food has gone up but not as much as I thought it would and did see at our local Gamm Vert you could get 25kg of sunflower seeds for just under £20 which is a good buy I usually get them in 10kg or 12.5kg bags do not have room for 25kg but have stocked up well and will only have one pole feeder out this winter near the lounge window, the food in the window feeder was nearly all gone yesterday but now stocked up again.

Had some rain yesterday and more on the way.

Off to see if we can get our flu jabs at local Pharmacie and get our 2 13kg butane gas bottles replaced as both empty now and still a good price here so far, we had issues with old mobile heater so now gone to local skip and new one bought last week a round one instead of rectangular and works so much better than the old one and certainly gets the room warm.

    Take care folks.

That’s a good price Redkite.  We bought a 15kg bag of mixed seed for £24 ( twice as much as January). The sunflower hearts we usually buy (our birds aren’t keen on whole sunflower seeds!) was almost £40 for a 12.5kg bag!!!  I do know of the surrounding issues with sunflowers but sadly we can’t justify spending that much, as much as we love our garden birds.

Here's ours David! And our two reprobate visiting terriers! We insure with Animal friends the only time we have insured and it's still just over £13pm three years on , we get cash back too. Our older daughter has used them and they were excellent when problems arose for her little dog, two luxating patella ops, which was quite a worry!

Nice to see Lizzie enjoying life. smile

Chucking it down this morning so concentrated on my exercises and sorting out house insurance.

Latter transferred at roughly the same price as last year to a mainstream insurer so quite pleased that's done and dusted.

Headed off with the "powers that be" to view electrical appliances at large out of town Curry's this afternoon. New vacuum (Hoover), new Kettle and new iron (this wasn't in stock so ordered on internet). Hope that's all that goes wrong.

    Expensive day all told.

Rained here most of the day too... 🙁🙁  Also went shopping but only to Sainsbury's for a bit of a food shop.  Noticed online that the Barefoot Merlot was 25% off for 6 bottles.  When we got there we were told the offer doesn't start until tomorrow..... It didn't tell you that on the website...  😨😨😨

Not been a lot happening here lately. Weather been terrible last few days. Mobile caravan engineer is coming on Friday to service the van fingers crossed it all goes ok and not too expensive there is nothing obvious we know wrong with it apart from the stabilising pads needing replaced. Keeping an eye on the weather may try and get a few days in the lakes next week so long as it’s ok for towing we shall see

Lovely dog photos David and brue. Our springer Beth used chase after balls and sticks with great enthusiasm but never got the hang of bringing them back to us!

It has poured with rain most of the day here and very dull and dark. A quiet morning for visitors at the Cathedral but had a school visit from some delightful Primary school children. Some of them looked too young to be at school. A visit to the chiropractor this afternoon so I am feeling a bit battered but a lovely long phone call from my cousin in Bournemouth cheered me up.

We are going to be looking for pet insurance for our new cat soon so I might try Animal Friends that you mentioned brue.

Very wet today, especially this morning, surely those reservoirs are full by now? We decided to visit Dobbies today as we had some vouchers to use and we get a free coffee with our loyalty card. We thought it would be quiet as no one would be looking for plants, not only at this time of year but also in the pouring rain! How wrong could you be it was packed, at least in the cafe. Did manage to find some packs of pansies at greatly reduced prices, just need some dry weather so I can plant them!

Two wet walks, with full waterproofs and brolly, this morning before we paid our quarterly visit to the dental hygienist. Thankfully it had stopped raining by lunchtime so dry walks this afternoon, and we got the food shopping done this evening in the dry too.

Lovely crisp morning so after the exertions of a shower I went for a stroll with Mrs WN supervising. Managed about 1K in total. Funny how your objectives change. No physio today but did some arm and hand exercises when back home.

Mrs WN being a real trooper. Will have to get something special for Chrimbo.

Hope one and all in the pink.

Good to hear you managed to get for a wall WN keep up the good work and posts 😊

Last night we had our first real rain in 8 weeks. Couple of hours of quite heavy rain and wind, dry this morning for our pack and move to Portugal.

We are now in Albufeira for a few days, it's a bit grey and mizzle 😞

We had 10.2mm of rain in about 45 minutes last night very heavy at times but needed, dry today and a lovely sunny afternoon about 16 to 18C so coffee and tea sat out this afternoon, going a bit chilly at nights now but cooler next week.

We have had a day of discussion today about our caravan.  I am finding more and more that I don’t enjoy it any longer, for reasons that I can’t quite put my finger on!  Various issues getting under my skin.  OH is totally different unfortunately so it’s a hard compromise.  I think we will probably miss it if it goes but I think a change might be good for us.  We have a chap coming to view on Friday and give us a price so we’ll see from there.  Eeeek!!!

Good Luck, Heddlo,  I hope you both are happy which ever way your decisions take you.

Went out at about 4.00 pm to fill the  bird feeders since it's forecast to be only slightly dryer than the days of Noah's Flood tomorrow. To my utter surprise a large very very hairy cat hopped gently out of the bushes looked at me and, very slowly ambled to the rear gate, sat down & waited for me to let him/her/it out.  Never tried to climb over, nor wriggle through it, just waited for 'manservant' to get his finger out !!

Sorry to hear that you are in the process of getting rid of your caravan, heddlo, but hope you and your OH find an alternative hobby that suits you both.

Good to hear of your steady progress, WN, and enjoyed a walk out. Keep up the good work.

A much better day here, with sunshine for most of the time. Took Flyte to a new vet practice today for his Parvo booster, and the vet was very pleased with his condition following a full examination, and us with the practice as they didn't try to foist any medicinal products onto us.

After a walk along the coast, followed by a picnic in the car, we returned home and were successful in booking 4 CLs, including 2 new ones, for our next trip. Just waiting for a positive response from another before booking our opening site, hopefully another new one for us.

Sorry to hear that you are thinking of selling for caravan Heddlo. I know just how you feel as we sold ours 18 months ago for similar reasons. I was finding it all hard work and was not enjoying it as much anymore. OH not so keen to see it go. It was a wrench but it was the right decision for us and we dont regret it. It was good to sell it when we did and not be forced into by circumstances. Best of luck.

Glad to hear of your good progress WN. Excellent that you managed such a good walk.

Not sure if you will get such a tolerable walk with or without Flyte tomorrow NellietH !!

The parting forecast from Owain Wyn Evans was that it might be dryer in the bath over the next few days surprised!! Not sure who will be the next [semi-] -permanant forecaster now  that  young Master Drummer Owain Wyn is departing for some Morning Radio Station in South Wales or so I beleve
