New Booking System

Just spotted this on Trustpilot:-
What an uncaring reply. I think words are beyond me.
Does anyone in authority read these replies ?

This is a warning to all members & future members, we recently re-joined the club made a booking and paid our deposit as required on the new system which to be honest is not very user friendly. Sadly just before we were due to travel both myself & my wife contracted covid so as per the club statement we respected their wishes not to go to the site, we contacted the site to request moving the date of travel to the following week to ensure we both tested negative only to be told this would be treated as a cancellation not an amendment so would lose the £25 paid, this is totally unfair as we were trying to be responsible members of the club, nobody knows they are going to be ill 21 days in advance which would have enabled no loss of deposit. The advice I would now give is to be totally selfish in future & travel to the site if you have covid or lose your deposit. The membership has been cancelled due to the club not listening to the reason why we asked for an amendment just robbing us of the £25 for trying to do the right thing. We will be joining their competitors who appear to be more member friendly rather than just a business.Date of experience: 05 October 2022

Hello I'm so sorry to learn this has happened, we take a deposit of 20% to secure the pitch at the time of booking, this is in our T&C's. We make it known each time you book a deposit payment will be collected and is non refundable if you have to cancel less than 21 days of your arrival date. We will only refund the deposit if you cancel with more than 21 days before arrival. We suggest that members take out suitable travel insurance now, to help protect you in these instances - Catrina5 -
As some of us have already posted the "Dash for cash" with no or little thought for the membership just proves the direction of what is now a just a money grabbing organisation ,
And I feel that ,although in the past used the majority of this clubs? sites in the cuter as it seems quite a few others,,we will as already. booked.other sites and only use camc sites as a last resort ,if nothing else is available
And how long before camc offer cancellation insurance ?as another money making scheme,(or will they wait until all members have been stung by not refunding deposits by the unwary

So much for reviewing cancellations on a case by case basis!

I think the department who would do the reviews would need be be quite large ,at least for the next couple of years
The call centres already seem to have problems with answering the amount of calls it took 17mins to get through a couple of days ago

Looking at the T&Cs it looks as though illness as a reason for cancelling or leaving a site early now has no bearing on refunds. Although I think it was mentioned in the FAQs that it would be considered.
FAQs "The club will sensitively manage cancellations due to exceptional circumstances."

In seems rather insensitive to penalise someone for doing the right thing in protecting others. I thought Covid was treated as exceptional by leisure organisations🤷🏻♂️

Indeed it does. In the past we have extended a stay at a site and delayed our arrival at the next due to heavy snow, which I didn’t fancy towing in. Reading the terms and conditions, it looks as though we could now loose our deposit at the follow on site, as the change would be considered a cancellation. If this turns out to be the case, it is a very poor and potentially dangerous state of affairs, encouraging folk to move on when they don’t feel confident, or loose money.

But haven't the T&Cs been changed/upgraded over the last week or so? If that is the case those in place when the the original bookings are made would have been different, and possibly less stringent than the present ones, and those would have been the ones read and ticked at the time of booking. One cannot be expected to read every change to the T&Cs especially if there is no notification that those changes have taken place.

In view of what we’re learning, I can’t help but wonder what will happen to deposits if the club cancels someone's booking. Flooding at York RP, for instance. It’s starting to look as if what they say and what they do might be two different things.🙁

It depends whether one is a customer or the supplier that upgraded applies.

There are, understandably, a number of comments surrounding what happens regarding your deposit, if you cancel within the 21 day limit due to circumstances beyond your control, such as illness or very inclement weather which would make travelling dangerous. As some members are also members of the CCC, I was wondering what their experiences have been regarding their deposit, if they have had to cancel.

I wonder if by amending one's booking to still include at least one day of the original would avoid the cancellation penalty? If so, one could shift the booking by a series of six day amendments. Tedious but possibly doable.

Surely if large amounts of money are involved which you can ill afford to lose you make sure you have adequate insurance. I have had to cancel a C&CC site once due to an injury. It meant a loss of £25 and I just took it on the chin. With small deposits it is not worth doing anything else.

We should have been away now for a week or so with the C&CC. I phoned on 29 Sept to cancel due to Molly the Mutt having just had major surgery. the very helpful person I spoke to moved my booking to this time next year. So I have a year to amend & use my booking without loss of deposit. Effectively a credit note for £30-odd

The C&CC terms seems to have been written by a legally trained person. They are reasonably clear and concise. Definitely worth reading as a comparison with the CAMC confusion. I feel for the CAMC staff who may be required to interpret, explain, apply and defend them.

This new system will certainly lead to the loss of some customers.
The new system is about the worst thing the club has ever developed.
I used to be able to print out my reservations, but I can't do that anymore.
It seems to have been programmed by someone who has never booked, nor taken a reservation.
I have also found that campground owners are not getting along with the new system.
And, it should be mentioned here: these people are very friendly, accommodating and tolerant.
It would be good to get things back in order.
I am very upset with the current system.5
