The it seems , expensive ammendments to what was supposed to be a better system than the previous user friendly system,  just go to show that trying to use the overseas booking system by just "bolting on?"the UK sites was not as good an idea as the EGH club blue sky thinkers first thoughtundecided

First time of checking on Android smartphone (Nokia). Not impressed. This was a dummy booking. Input site name and dates. Then clicked on Check Availability. At the top of the next page, it says :  Scroll down to view campsite availability by pitch type.

I didn't scroll down straight away, as underneath that it asks for car/unit details etc, and it let me complete those details. I then scrolled down and found 2 nights were not available.

Why doesn't it state straight away, at the top of the page, there is no availability? Instead it will let you complete all details before finding out. Ok, I now know that, but in my mind that's hardly user friendly. I've booked CLs online whose systems are far more sophisticated and tell you straight off wheter they have availability as soon as you put dates in.

The other thing is that the site and dates I input was for the same site and dates I've already booked (on old system, one of 2 sites I'd booked). But although I was logged in, it didn't tell me I already had a booking for those dates. I'm sure that the old system did, as soon as you put dates in. I'd once got dates mixed up, where I input an arrival date before departure date on previous site and the message came up straight away. Presumably at some point it would have told me I'd already got a booking for those dates but I suspect only after completing all details 🙄

So, still not impressed I'm afraid 😟

I have been trying to amend a booking. For Dec this year but because it is such  convoluted way of doing it ,  I went via the clubs telephone number and found out by talking to the lovely lady with a Scots accent who was based amongst others in GLASGOW surprised

One of the items missing from my bookings was my mobile number which the lady could not understand as it is available as always been on my bookings wink

I have tried and failed to amend a club booking for this Dec and while attempting and failing to do so noticed that the pitch prices  were different and as the grass pitches are closed at that time of year noted the price was for a grass pitchundecidedwhich then had altered by two pound more for a hardstanding pitch when I tried again? so used the booking number ? See earlier post

Yes, I've been following this "development" but can't understand the strange mixture of places that come up, some with complete addresses others with just a place name. I'm half expecting to find the Rovers in Coronation St when I look up Weatherfield!

Just can't understand why it was signed off as functional, what was the testing all about? Oh well when "all the saints come marching in" it will be fun, St Moritz to St Mawes....wink

If you get the correct search area eg Devon UK this will only bring up a list of 20 sites, whether main sites or CLs the list search stops at twenty.

The thing I find difficult to understand, if they are using the Google data base is why I get such a strange list of locations. If I search for Kendal on the new sites search, I get 5 returns with somewhere in Java at the top, Kendal UK second, followed by three in the US. Where as when I put Kendal into Google maps search, I get Kendal UK at the top followed by 9 places in and around Kendal.🤔

Checked into a site yesterday and my wife has to work so she will be staying two nights less than me. Poor warden had to go to the manual to find out how to reduce the fee by 2 nights for one person.  She got a little stumped. She said' she'd call me on my mobile when she'd found out how to do it.

She called me about 30 minutes later to say she'd sorted it so I went over to pay. This site had been booked before the new system came in but she advised me to only book for one person and add any extra people in when you check in. Don't think she was impressed.

    Had to chuckle.

At the bottom left of each club web page there was a link to Trustpilot with the star rating also being displayed. Just noticed this morning that the link is still there but the stars have been removed.

That is what I have been advised also,  if booking under the latest debacle system to only book one person (especially on a tour)and pay for any additional members on arrival at the site.,

It will also be less of a loss of deposit, if for some reason you have cancel inside the 21days

PS have now shortens our stay a a club site and booked a small commercial  site we have used before over Xmas and New Year at £12 a night cheaper and no deposits

TP star rating still there for me, on all pages. Club have posted an apology on their actual TP page now, on right in highlighted red.

The mis-use of the name of the former chancellor on Trust Pilot and the fact that the club replied using the name again speaks volumes for the set up on Trust Pilot. frown

I’m not sure why Club actually signed up for TP to be honest. They pay for it as well I think…..Credit where it’s due, they do actually monitor reviews, lots of companies sign up then practically ignore it.

There are some very odd addresses on the location search. Italy gets linked to Dubai and brings up Croatia if the search is extended.

I tried looking for a CL this morning, hoping to browse a given area rather than specific location. I tried the map, but it’s not very good, all over the place, every action you try to perform takes ages to load, and it’s very clunky. This is on n IPad via Safari on Virgin’s very fast broadband. No other websites affected, so it’s not device or provider related. When it did come up with something, only listed 20 sites max🤷‍♀️

Edit None of the links provided by Club staff in response on TP are live. Copy and paste is only option I think.

It must be unpleasant for the staff dealing with angry TP reviews. Elsewhere CAMC seem to be using the FAQ method on the booking experience updates, it's quicker and prevents abusive remarks, especially as the staff are not the instigators of the new system. Do they really need to provide details on TP that could be highlighted on their own website site for the membership to see?

Just my own views on staff deployment. smile

I agree brue. It not a job I would look forward to doing each day, dealing with upset, angry Members. I hope those on the front line are getting the support, it’s an issue not of their making.

Would be interesting to hear from anyone who has been to NEC this week, get some feedback from there, who was there from Club, any responses to problems.

When trying to amend a booking. a couple of days ago ,I had to contact the club. because the "new system?"was far to complicated, the staff at the call centre at Glasgow? took 17mins to answer and the staff sounded absolutely fed up when trying to do the amendment as they were so busy trying and failing  quite often it seems ,to help membersundecidedsurprised

I said that some time ago long before the change of booking system. The point of an external review organisation is to attract new customers. Given, that generally, the camping/LV community is quite small relatively are they actually likely to pull in many new members via Trustpilot? At the moment they seem to be losing members if some of those that comment on TP carry out their threat! I don't see the value in it from the Club's point of view.

    David

PS re the links, do TP allow live links?

No idea to be honest on the links.

I remember when the organisation I worked for introduced a comments, and complaints system. Not online at the time, but it turned out to be very useful. You did get the odd rant every now and then, but of course we could meet the ranters face to face to clear things up if they wanted to meet. Most of the complaints were around things that required money spending, so if any of my buildings needed funds, I actually used to give out cards to those who might have passed a comment, get them to complain, and once enough complaints had gone in, I would do a report, a case for funding, and voilà, the cash flow commenced🤣 Wouldn’t work now, LA’s don’t have the funds anymore, our Leisure facilities are contracted out nowadays.

It’s like train journeys. One day of the year will have a super discounted ticket on a train that runs through the early hours🤣 When I was commuting, I was fortunate enough to pick up a few absolute bargains, but you had to watch the website for when they were released, and it was one heck of a logistical task getting OH booked into sites where I could commute to and from. Stand out bargains? £8 Doncaster to Edinburgh (taxi to station cost me double🤣). Even better, Doncaster to Lostwithiel Cornwall via London, on the Cornish Riviera Sleeper. That one was a mere £50, and I got a long afternoon in London before sleeper left Paddington. First Class as well. Bargain of the decade. I dread to think how much that would be now.

I was there yesterday, visited both Club's stands, had my packed lunch sat on a bench on the C&MC's stand. Both stands appeared to be full of happy customers and staff. I didn't see anyone I recognised and had no need for questions.

I thought the show larger than in previous years as were the Club stands. The Club temporary site on N10 also looked well attended.

I have repeated this post for those who have been saying there are only “From” prices for Club sites. If you follow what SteveL  posted you will get exact day by day prices.

When I was working it was acknowledged that for every letter or comment about a good service there was seven complaints about a poor service they had received ,the majority of complaints when investigated were normally self inflicted at the core of the complaint

A bit like reviews of Club and CLs

The latest complaints as with the latest booking system seem to be very genuine thoughkiss

How prominent was the information about the new booking system?
