Sounds excessive, but we have family coming from Spain & Australia and the new rules state that rather than self isolate if you have been in contact with a positive person, you should now test every day for 7 days, hopefully we will not have to do this, but we will be prepared.

sorry for your predicament, however, my motto is "be prepared" you have been able to get 1 pack of tests per day on the NHS web site for many many months, Omicron has been with us now for almost 1 month, hopefully my supply will see us through until we get a grip of this wretched pandemic, If i lived nearer I would cycle round with a couple of packs
p.s. one pack, 7 tests, is not a whole lot of good if you have 6 people indoors all requiring tests for 7 days

11 hours per day seven days per week is the request from Boris. About 13 hours per day including an hour at each end setting up and closing. Please be patient you will get your jab but there may be a wait. Having a go at the staff won't help, but a cuppa and mince pie might

Some local idiot (Tunbridge Wells Area) suggested we complain to our local MP because a vaccination centre was cancelling vaccinations (temporarily) because a lack of staff.
Clearly that person thought that staff should work 8hr days, 7 days a week without a break!

Granddaughter due her booster but couldn’t get an appointment for one unless 100 mile round trip. Walk in available locally tonight so we took her. (She uses a wheelchair) 2 hour queue but it wasn’t too cold and the rain held off. She has a problem with regular fainting, when this was explained the nurse found her a bed, and injected laying down. Then water and biscuits and checked on. All volunteers so pleasant and helpful. We didn’t hear anyone in the queue complain about the wait. Good to see so many people willing to wait for something we all know is so important.

Following a hospital visit yesterday we called in a cafe/eatery.We noticed none of the 8 staff ( cooking and serving) were wearing face coverings.When I queried was told it was not mandatory but only "advisory". I on the other hand had to wear a mask to.enter. Is this the general rule? If so it seems odd that someone in close proximity and close contact with food does not need any protection, whilt I the customer must be masked.Very odd

The inconsistency of criteria does little to encourage compliance , just like Barnard Castle eye tests.

This summer mask wearing was mandatory for customers entering club site receptions while for staff it was voluntary. From now on it's mandatory for all to wear one during face to face contact. I love chatting to those anti maskers
. At least next season if this is all still going on there'll be less people coming into reception after the new system goes live.JK

We have friend who sister is going to London from South Wales this weekend by coach to meet family and has notification from the bus company that she must wear her mask on the coach until it crosses over into England then they can take it off barmy or what.
Here cafe/restaurants the staff all wear masks when serving or cooking food.

Totally different over here in Lanzarote. The staff in our timeshare complex have to wear masks indoors or out.
When the cleaners come into the apartment we are asked to go out on the terrace until they are finished.
In town most of the shops are fully open fronted, yet staff still wear masks.
The guys encouraging you to eat in their restaurants also have to wear masks and they are outside on the pavements.
It really irks me that some in the UK are so beligerant.
Speaking to one of the staff here who comes from Hungary she informed us that in her country everyone over the age of 5 is asked to get vaccinated. When eating in a cafe/ restaurant non jabbed are only allowed to sit outside while jabbed can sit anywhere. They make a point of who isn't jabbed by putting something on the table that is a different colour, so others can see. They also have Covid passports.

Have just read a report from the person in SA a GP who alerted the WHO about Omicron. She says the UK is over reacting, she claims to be be the most in touch with cases on the ground in SA where only 26% of the nation is vaccinated.
According to her its much milder than other varients more like a seasonal cold. Most patients recover in around 5 days. She also said a lock down would contain the virus and make it last for longer, she thinks countries should care on as normal and allow folk to catch this MILD version to build up antibodies. This way we would reach Herd immunity faster. She said its possible that in the future there could be a less transmittance varient but more deadly so getting everyone antibodies is the priority.
Brave statement or what.

It’s certainly rash, without more data, to compare SA with the UK, where we have many more oldies. They have a much younger population. They are also moving into summer where they will be spending a lot more time outdoors. Here it is likely to spread even faster due to the time spent inside at this time of year.

Who to believe? The strategy is clear….proper scientific analysis over an appropriate period of time will provide answers we can trust and respond to. In the ‘wait and see’ interim taking precautions seems sensible.
