I wonder if virologists even understand that fully? It seems that a virus will mutate in order for it to latch onto more hosts. The more it mutates the more likely that errors will occur along the way which could, of course, go either way. The evidence from SARS Corona Virus 1 suggests it will burn itself out by trying to be too clever? There is already a new Japanese mutant that seems to be going down that route. All a bit wishful thinking until we get a clearer picture of what the impact of the latest South Africa version does?

It see s it is only in certain areas that suffer from long queues ,,we had our booster in Norfolk on a Sunday morning and if we had not been there the staff would have been twiddling their thumbs, while waiting the 15mins to see if we had a reaction another elderly couple arrived
And a Young couple for their first jab

The Lady is an expert Doc so I reckon it is what she says. The tiredness will be an issue for sure long covid & then some. I like the name-omicron it suggests small👍🏻

I see the boss of Moderna has cast doubt on the efficacy of vaccines on the Omicron variant. He should know or at least know someone who does.Let's hope that the range of vaccines still provide an effective barrier to serious illness et.

Indeed. The 'best' was seeing a bloke with his yellow sunflower lanyard round his neck and fag in hand .... 🤐 But most of the masks I saw yesterday were worn around chins or just over the mouth .... as much as I'd prefer not to wear a mask, I do try to play by the rules for the hour it takes to go round the supermarket.

Our grand daughter when not at Uni works in our local Tesco supermarket
She said there were quite a few "younger?" shoppers that were exempt from mask wearing, when the boss of Tesco beefed up the security staff ,,very many of those who said they were exempt starting wearing face coverings
The staff at our local coop store ,were reticent to ask shoppers to wear face coverings as they were already at times having problems with shoppers

If the store owners/managers are willing to put money before their customers well-being there isn’t much can be done other than boycott the store👍🏻. I do my thing & let others do theirs, I’m don’t see myself as a ‘mask enforcer’ I’ve seen the nastiness of masks vs freedom in the USA & it’s not good, I’d hate that to happen here🤷🏻♂️

My post covers that JV-ban em, bar them for as long as it takes them to apologise & commit to decent behaviour or a lifetime ban will ensue👍🏻

Our granddaughter, through no fault of her own, had to cancel her booster jab. She is disabled, we were away and she couldn’t get to her appointment that day. Yesterday, and now that we are available to take her, she tried to rebook, 4,200 in the internet queue. She did eventually get through to the booking system but no available appointments.
A few weeks ago we went shopping with her sister 16, at the door of the supermarket I asked where her mask was, ‘I don’t have to wear one Nan, and they are so uncomfortable’. It’s a few years since I have given her a telling off or a lecture but by golly she got one that day. Yes a little uncomfortable but if it saves just one life or serious illness. When we think of the hardships our parents/grandparents went through, wearing a mask now and again, not too much to expect. Should have always been mandatory as in other parts of Britain.

Several folks have reported that supermarket delivery slots are becoming scarce again? We used them last lockdown as we were also shopping for a couple of neighbours, but then reverted to ‘click & collect’ which works so well we’ve stuck with for the most part. I hate shopping at the best of times and just turning up while somebody stuffs it all in the boot is great.
Up until recent times I’ve known relatively few people with Covid, but all of sudden there seems to be loads, young & old including a death. Most have had at least 2 jabs which is worrying. It’s certainly focussed my mind on avoidance strategies again.

I tend to agree. I think it easy for people to pontificate about what shops staff should do without realising they could be putting themselves in danger. Our local Co-Op has about half a dozen staff in at anyone time and they just don't have the numbers to police it. Larger stores have security guards and they are in a better position to control things. Shop staff come in for enough abuse in normal times let alone during the pandemic.

Case rates are very high again. Some folks forget that having all the jabs doesn’t stop you getting Covid, or transmitting it if you do get it, the jabs are there to help you from dying from it.
It’s common sense and taking care that helps to prevent catching it, that and a pinch of luck.
I’m getting mixed messages at the moment. Desperate to ramp up the jabs, but hey, it’s ok to have a party......really?🤷♀️
