Plus the Jewish wedding at Stamford Hill. According to a report on radio4 possibly Sunday Programme at 0710 onwards?? A photographer admitted taking photos at 12 or 13 of such events 🤬😡 since the beginning and during lockdown........

NZ have had compulsory MIQ, isolation, since the beginning 1st government paid for now arrivee funded and they've now got a case in the community, 10 days after they left 14 day MIQ. See NZ LINK or BBC LINK

scary scary could be it was from undetected pre realised or just incubation longer than thought. I do hope we 'learn lessons', remember that phrase 😤 from whatever is documented from NZ

Until the powers that be apply the fines to "all" the miscreants, the message will not get across. With only a few fines being issued, people will gamble the odds that it will not be them. Had the two examples above received that treatment then £90000 plus the organisers fines being plastered across the front page of the red tops would focus minds wonderfully.

That made me laugh-I was discussing my holiday with my boss way back and happened to mention the savings to be made by using Camping Cheques, those were the days.

He said "why cant you just park in lay-byes" and my response was that if I wanted to be twice divorced, like he was, then maybe I would give it a try!

Our closest friends are MH ers, and our holidays do feature quite a bit of mutual leg pulling, and they have lately been bemoaning the fact that many aires that used to be free are no longer and the, as they describe, better ones are often not a lot cheaper than sites.

Back in 2015 we traveled to Bella Italia, in Peschiera, together and driving towards the town one day noticed a Sosta MH stop.

This year you could stay at BI for €20 a night, with all the fab facilities it has to offer, or on the Sosta for €18, which does have toilets and showers but a shower costs €1.........so that will be €20!!

I believe it was £15000 but it hardly changes the point.

BBC News:     No arrest were reported, but 78 fines of up to £200 for breaching lockdown restrictions were issued.

Isn't it time the UK had a National Guard for widescale breaches of the law, sending a few police is not the answer.

Issuing the fines doesn't mean they're paid either 😤😤😤

All I read on BBC was 'Police have issued more than £15,000 in fines after 300 people attended an illegal rave in a railway arch.'

It does seem a bit odd that you can still get a criminal record for not paying your TV licence. However, only run the risk of getting a fine for putting folks and particularly the police’s lives at risk.🤔

Once you convert your Tesco points into a voucher for Eurotunnel, the voucher is then valid for 12 months (used to be 6 months).

All info relating to converting points into vouchers can be found on the Tesco Clubcard website HERE  The bit about validity is in the blue part near the top of the page.

There’s a great deal of English law not fit for purpose to be honest. But then when you look at how our Parliament operates (think bleating sheep, old men falling asleep, long winded blather about trivia, etc....) it’s hardly surprising. I love history, it’s one of my passions, but clinging onto outdated customs and operating methods when time is so precious, technology is out there is baffling at times. A lot of younger MPs don’t flourish because it’s full of fossils who dominate procedures, very sad.

I think I mentioned a few pages ago about a possible surcharge for overseas travel if you tested positive on return and had to be made to self isolate, refundable if your test is ok.

It worked for keeping rabies at bay........😉 Used to be six months for dogs I think.

    Hi, £15000 @ £200 per person = 75 people.
I don’t think this requires the introduction of an armed force that can be called on by the equivalent of a county council.

Open a bottle wish 300 people and 30 cops. How many will you apprehend?

The organiser(s) could have received a far higher fine in there own right.

I’m with you-NO, there are enough levels of control over us without adding another one. Top heavy Govt & control of us is never a good idea(to me)☹️

Cross France off the list for a while

"France's top medical adviser says a third national lockdown will probably soon be needed to combat Covid-19. Prof Jean-Francois Delfraissy says "there is an emergency", adding that the "UK variant" now makes up between 7-9% of cases in some French regions . A strict curfew was implemented last weekend but cases continue to climb"

at least we are sharing the love laughing

"sn't it time the UK had a National Guard for widescale breaches of the law, sending a few police is not the answer. "

we have one, its called the British Army, we let them out of their barracks to run the logistics for the vaccine roll out and what a great success that has been, give them a bit more head room and let them enforce the lock down cool

when you see the disgraceful scenes of people trying to get into the highlands this weekend, blocking snow packed roads etc, disgraceful, we dont have a police force suffciently big enough to cope with this type of law breaking , they struggle to cope with everyday crime.

The problem is that the Government ( of whatever persuasion) is terrified of using the army.

Would it not be a better idea to give the army a change of clothing for when they are to be used as a peacekeeping force on our streets - similar to when a UN  force is sent to foreign countries, no one says it's the various armies in disguise it's the UN peacekeepers.

Would it not be a better idea to increase the manning of the police force so they can cope?

Well the army hasn't been used in this way since 1926 and really peacekeeping and policing are two very different things.

The armed forces and the military police have no legal power to police or constabulary powers over ordinary citizens.

Do we need peacekeepers at the moment?

of course, but if we all want to go travelling this year, I would suggest that in the short to medium term that is a no brainer.

"Do we need peacekeepers at the moment?"

we could call them whatever, I am sure their presence would be a big deterrant for most, and if policing powers were needed then they could call in the boys in blue, i am sure many just need a gentle reminder as to what is expected of them, we dont need guys running around with guns.

This is how they do it in many countries overthere, guns that is, but we still flock there in our thousands.

"The armed forces and the military police have no legal power to police or constabulary powers over ordinary citizens"

this is very true, however, many years ago i worked with the American shore patrols in Hong Kong at the time they were using HK as a rest base from the horrors of Vietnam. If there was trouble involving civilians we called the local police force who took care of them and we did the rest.

slapping fines on people who are possibly furloughed or on Universal Credit is my book is a no brainer.

We wont be travelling any time soon if the current situation prevails undecided

Governments are not terrified of using the army they are legally prevented from doing so.  It would require a significant change in the law to enable the military in any guise to be used on the streets of the UK for peace keeping or in an enforcement role.

The law must have changed then, i can remember Naval shore patrols in cities such as Portsmouth & Plymouth, yes they were there to see that jolly jack did not misbehave but i am sure they got into skirmishes with the civilian population before the bobbies arrived. laughing

You have answered your own question.  Shore patrol are only to enforce discipline with service people they have no civil powers.

Good point.  So our plan is to not plan.  That way we won't be disappointed and the plan(s) can't go wrong.  But, perhaps a little dreaming of a tour of some of the nicest places in France mostly using Camping-Car Parks.

"Anyway I hope sometime soon a moderator takes steps to get this thread back to its origional purpose i.e to talk about plans or hope for the coming year and maybe those without any could shift their Covid control theories to another thread"

To that end, unlocking the two temporarily locked covid threads would be a help.
