Covid Madness -

It would be a poor show if a politician able to give nearly 100% to a single issue couldn’t out perform someone with a bit more on their plate!
While I’m here.... ‘celebrities’ who don’t adhere to the rules annoy me intensely. Statement from Lewis Hamilton’s team talked about doing everything they could to avoid Covid. Last thing I saw of him on TV he was literally diving into a crowd of people track side! Rita Ora should also be properly ashamed.

Perhaps you have failed to understand that all of the teams are in Covid bubbles. The whole circus has been doing it's best to stay clean. Doing as you describe LH did should not have been a problem, and in fact was not the cause of his infection; but no system is perfect and he was unlucky.
Rita Ora disgusts me. Her mother is a well qualified doctor who works in the NHS. If anyone should have known what she and her mates did was wrong it should have been her. I understand that the police are not taking it further and that to me is inexcusable. Ora and all of her mates should be very heavily fined and the restaurant should be very heavily penalised.

Spot on, Rufs. When there is a reason to celebrate something common sense goes out of the window for many. Just look at those that have been caught already attending birthday parties and raves, and the number of students that have been fined for holding gathering over the allowed numbers.

I do get what a bubble is, but it still requires individuals to socially distance as much as is practical and take all reasonable precautions. Throwing yourself into a frenzy of people all shouting and hugging is high risk. As you rightly say, no system is perfect so why take take unnecessary risks?
They’ll be an entourage of people now attending to his pampered, expensive needs who will be increasing their own risk of infection.

and a temperature of forty point three

Five IC beds
Four Covid experts
Three restrictive tiers
Two swab tests
and a temperature of forty point three
Note to DSB: Only five days of dispensation so I've only produced that many.

not as bad as some of the Primark stores up and down the country, wait 5 hrs in queue to enter, with no social distancing and very few face masks, then wait 1 hour at check-out, are people so desperate to buy a so called bargain ? now that is Covid Madness

My niece works in a bank in town and was amazed by the number of people walking past her branch on Wednesday carrying Primark bags. The number of people in town generally, she said, was manic.
She used to get the bus into town but since all this started in February / March she has been driving in. Safer in her own company than mixing on a bus. The local carpark has provided free parking for essential workers.

Just got back from our constitutional. There was a group of about 8 teenagers hanging around outside the local community centre. No social distancing, no masks. Hope there are no carriers among them.

Our local town has done just that ABM.
Just seen the scenes from Nottingham and their Christmas Market that some bright spark decided not to cancel. Where on earth have these people misplaced their common sense. "We didn't realise it would be so busy" just doesn't cut it does it? Total Thickos.

They have now had second thoughts, after the crowd scenes, and have cancelled it.

Yes, I noticed that Nellie but also noticed they said it was a temporary closure whilst they have a think about it. Nothing to think about.
If you want to open it, and let's face it the traders need the business, then manage it properly. Limit numbers, insist on face masks, provide hand gels and wipes, insist on social distancing. If shoppers can't abide by them then move them out and let someone else in.
Have managers in place otherwise shut it down. I have no objection to a well managed market, just won't find me in one.

On the news this morning they have said that the market will not re-open at all. One of the other issues stated on the news yesterday was that there was no toilet facilities available and people were using shop doorways . What a total lack of proper planning by all concerned.

Looking in on this forum as an outsider I have come to the conclusion that most of you are happy to pull up the drawbridge on life and bicker amongst yourselves. You all seem to be in a very fortunate position of being retired (and looking at the outfits some of you have) no money worries. Meanwhile in the real world the rest of us have to get on with earning a living, looking after family and shopping whenever we have the time. This does not as some of you have stated make us morons or thicko we are just getting on with things. If you want to sit there slagging everyone else off so be it but the rest of us have to get on with life. I get that this forum by its nature is going to be lets say for the older generation and that you have more need to be worried but everyone else are not idiots but just making the best of a bad situation. If you haven't noticed its Christmas so the shopping centres and markets will be crowded and people will be visiting family so instead of moaning about everyone be happy and thankful you are in the position you are in.

A bit of an assumption really. Yes many of us have 'pulled the drawbridge up' to an extent. Many of us are in the vulnerable group and also have children in the same category. Yes life has to go on. But I certainly would not have entered Nottingham market with the crowd. In normal times I would not have entered with such a crowd. I am only 5' 6'' and doubt that I would be able to see a stall, never mind buy anything.
