How's your footy team doing?

I've got a terrible sense of deja vu . The last time Town were in the top flight, early 1970s, the dropped through the divisions like a lead weight.
We're now stuck in the bottom three, haven't won since the restart and have some tough games coming up.
God help us if we need points from the last two fixtures, West Brom at home and Millwall away😱

That's better😀
We might just get out of this with a good three points this evening and Wigan going into administration.
If they don't finish in the bottom three they'll be deducted 12 points. It remains to be seen whether this will galvanise there players or knock the stuffing out of them. They're the form team in the Championship at the moment.

On reflection my post above could look like I'm not also sympathetic to Wigan.
There are rumours that a large bet in the Philippines on Wigan to be relegated is behind their plight. It could explain why a club which was bought 4 weeks ago suddenly finds itself broke.
As always with these cases it's the supporters who will feel the pain.

I understand that there are moves afoot to ban the Betting Company adverts on EFL team shirts, and they are getting all upset about it !!
Personally, having had a family member suffer thro being *in hock* to betting & the companies that so happily take ones cash no matter where it comes from and what lives it is ruining, I would cheerfully eject from the EFL etc all clubs still bearing adverts of that nature by 08:00 on Monday morning.

Of course Town are currently sponsored by a betting company but you won't find anything on their shirts. The contract was for one year only and they're looking for a new sponsor now, lets hope it's nothing to do with gambling.
I remember a few years ago the shirt sponsor was a cider company and children's replica shirts weren't allowed to have the sponsors name on them.

Saw the Burnley v Wolves game on BBC yesterday but I have to say too many things did not impress at all .
1 } Spitting & nostril clearing is still taking place on the pitch
2 } Poor standard of refereeing
3 } V A R not helping the ref at all, and the modern version of Handball law is atrocious -- that a player cannot use a hand / arm to protect against shoulder high flying boots could be possible food for an ambulance chasing lawyer , especially in the U.S.A. !!

Well it seems that I know absolutely nothing about football. I was convinced three or four weeks ago that we would be playing in League 1 next season, but after beating the Baggies this evening it would appear that we're all but safe.
A great win for the Terriers. Really it was 2-0 not 2-1 their goal was offside and the free kick from which they "scored" was the result of a blatant piece of diving.

I suppose that was the downside for a lot of Town supporters but to be fair Leeds deserve their moment of glory.
What did annoy me was the coverage given to this on Football Focus yesterday. You'd have thought that they'd won the World Cup the Champion's League and the Grand National!
I know they've had a good year on the grass and sadly three of their good old players have died this year, but people forget that Trevor Cherry played for us too and his loss was keenly felt in Huddersfield.
One of my golfing buddies was so brassed off when Town sold Cherry to Leeds that he swore he wouldn't watch them anymore, and he's stuck to that for all these years since !
Yorkshiremen can be a stubborn lot!
Any road up we're safe now. Luton can catch us on points but their goal difference is far worse.

Yes it's not a nice place to go and some of their supporters should be kept in cages!
Apparently on Friday when they gathered to celebrate some of them were jumping up and down on cars. Some of the more responsible supporters are raising money to pay for the damage and went on Saturday to clear up the rubbish left by their more yobbish comrades
Rumour has it that the Cowleys were sacked because they had been talking to another club about leaving Town and working for them. The smart money is on the Brizzles (Bristol City)
Favourite for the Town job is the Assistant Manager at Leeds, Carlos Coberan. One thing is for certain life is never dull supporting HTAFC

A photo in the newspaper shows Fulham players and presumably captain holding a trophy aloft after defeating Brentford.
Do the team that finish second in the league get a trophy or is it just First and Third? Strange to give a trophy to a team finishing third. Was it bought at Poundland?

It does seem a bit strange to reward the play off winners and not the team in the second automatic place. Perhaps it's because they have to play three more matches.
When Town were promoted that way they gave supporters the opportunity to have a photo with the trophy. I took my grandson and his pal to have theirs taken and it is quite a handsome trophy, certainly not from poundland 😀

Not commenting upon the previous two posts about 'Trophys' grrr
At last there was some live footy at Gresty Road yesterday but, sadly, coming second with some dodgy finishing . Still cannot grumble going down 2 -- 0 to some ex-championship pot hunters and even so not at the very bottom due to the lovely English Language

2 wins from 17 games before last season finished (having taken over a team in the play off places) and now with a virtually new squad of his own choosing 1 draw and 3 defeats so far this season - it's not looking good for our bright new manager is it?
