Wimp. Whatever happened to hanging drawing and quartering. Now there's a spectacle to draw the crowds.

Seriously, the real damage is the effect it will have on the compliance by the public to any directives. Imagine the conversation between some miscreant and the police as they "engage" over compliance with the lockdown rules.

It must be more frustrating for yourself and others that drive through multiple country’s ,and you need to make sure every country you travel through has the correct passage and suddenly not ban all travel at a moments notice leaving you stranded , I presume you have given up trying to go this year ?

agree, but in reality even yesterday law enforcement when it comes to lock down rules has been at an all time low simply because the police are damned if they do and damned if they dont, so they do something that is inbetween but in effect is very little

There is quite a difference between fair reporting and the sort of manipulation we are seeing at the moment. Do you really think in this day and age, this story wasn't known about before now. It was just hung onto until the time was right. Not so much the state controlling the media but the unelected media controlling the state.

We've written off any trips to France for this year, initially thought that perhaps September may be possible, and who knows, it may yet be.  We'll be quite happy to stay in the UK this year, plenty of places we haven't seen yet.  I know it's not what you normally do, but if you couldn't go abroad, would you not consider that as an alternative for this year?  Maybe not for the same length of time, but for a few weeks.

not at all was just trying to make the point that even without this pandemic and the current lock down which you were putting forward as the reason for not seeing your family, you would in fact under normal circumstances have been out of the country for upwards of 60+ continuous days and therefore assume not available to see your family

David would doubtless have seen family in between travels as many do

I have given up for this years attempt at crossing the channel, so have made a couple of bookings into Scotland for end of August into September. If nothing comes of it then near to the time I will cancel, but if the floodgates do open then pitches will probably be hard to come by.

oh! undoubtedly but he was trying to make the point that he had not seen his family since the lock down came into force which i think is somewhat less than the 60+ continuous days he would be away on a somewhat regular basis rather than, what we hope will be a one off event lock down, which dont seem to be a problem for him

Come to think about it I had a slate at home as well and had forgotten that. I used to love the taste of the quink ink!

Trying to even think to a meaningful end to lockdown seems too much of an alien concept after such a lengthy lockdown. I think that for many, not in work and conditioned to lockdown, there will be a degree of reeducation required.

Boris Johnson is set to reopen market stalls, car dealerships and allow garden parties within days, it has been reported.

Britain’s long road back to normality could also see National Trust parks and open-air businesses and events return from next month, the Sun reports.

Some non-essential shops may also reportedly be given the green light to reopen their doors from June.

A senior Government source told the paper: “It is clear from the scientific evidence that the rate of infection is much less likely outdoors.

this is what we should be concentrating on, and just maybe it will enable us all to get out in our LV's sooner rather than later, provided the club pulls its finger out of course, or we all revert to CL's or other vendors of camping pitches laughing

i agree with Steves post in that these (or similar measures) will,be required to get uk sites back up and running at lower capacity levels.

re: the continental side of things, from memory, Brittany Ferries are loking to open the Western routes to France in mid June and the Spain in July some time.

Spain is deperate to get its tourism businesses back on stream, too and France has already mentioned dates for opening campsites.

while France and the UK are tit-for-tatting over quarantine rules at the moment , down the line they (and germany,Spain, Holland, Belgium) will be agreeing more 'complimentary' regs to allow 'free-er' passage to these near neighbours...

while it will be a personal choice for every traveller, i certsinly see a trip to France in the MH as being perfectly viable in, say, September...

still plenty of time to take that decision in 3-4 months time.

was not planning anything as i did not expect infection levels to fall quite so rapidly, however, I am still open to a trip thru France down to Spain maybe in September, i still have a return ferry booked during November Caen - Portsmouth that would be good to use.

I am all in favour of investigative press and reporting. Totally against press lead campaigns to change government and other aspects of the country. For me it amounts to report the news rather than making campaigns to make the news

I thought that Northern Ireland was very much as Scotland and Wales banning free travel effectively. No idea about Ireland though
