Talking of decision making - who do you reckon is going to be made the scapegoat for what's been going on ........ "sorry, Mr Hancock, how do you feel about the post of ambassador to ... er ...China?" 

I agree, M. Originally I thought it would be Raab but as time's gone on I've switched my bet to Hancock for being the fall guy.

Serco - already they've managed to leak email addresses....

One thing's for sure - it won't be Boris who, apart from an inept public broadcast and one clearly confused evening briefing (anyone else notice the slip of the tongue when he said "no later than July 4" instead of "no earlier"?) has kept an uncharacteristically low profile since his recovery. 

Were they given the wrong decisions? or did the governments chief advisor? who was sitting in (it is understood?) on the sage meetings put his own spin on it 

It made sense to those of us , who in life,  have learned that a few mistakes in correspondence , will tend to concentrate the mind 

But then there are CVs

It would ithink  it a problem for  all at this time ,  as mistakes have been made in every country so far infected with Covid19  ,,

To  try the blame game ,it should go in the direction of the country where it was first let out into the world  and surprise surprise now seem to have developed an antidote to neutralise it  with out the need of a vacine

Not sniping, One, but I think perfectly valid to question the decisions of those (politicians) who have chosen to place themselves in positions of responsibility and are being well paid to do so. They might garner slightly more support, from me anyway, if they accepted that mistakes have been made (which they undoubtedly have) and were slightly more open about the decision making processure itself. 

That's possibly true,  though wouldn't it be a refreshing change - and the statesmanlike thing to do - if that happened anyway? Are political decisions really to be made then on the basis of how the press will react?

Regarding questioning decisions, it is quite right IMHO that the press and individuals should feel confident enough to question them, lest we end up in the ridiculous position we are in now where primary schools have been told it's safe to return by some arbitrary date and a minister whose previous responsibility was as defence secretary  (until being required to resign) telling primary school teachers how they should be doing their jobs. That decision seems increasingly questionable now given the number of councils who are going to defy it and the concern about many, many parents over the safety of their little ones. 

Still, we are drifting into the murky waters of politics now so best stop even though it's totally relevant to the thread title.

Sorry OP, but I must disagree to a certain extent. On this one it was foresight, certainly in our little family group. You don’t have to be a scientist with multi PHD’s to understand that the weakest and most vulnerable (usually in terms of lung and heart conditions) are going to be at very very high risk. They always are with any flu like virus. But no, the Care sector was left almost to fend for itself, PPE an afterthought, and as for the frankly unbelievable not testing patients going from a hospital into a care home, that is just downright irresponsible. If I had a family member, in a Care home, who had died, I would be asking for an enquiry from the scientists/ministers level. Not blaming the Carers, a huge percentage have gone above and beyond in terms of trying to keep vulnerable elderly as protected as they could, and not a few have suffered themselves. I am afraid that this has exposed the limitations in terms of decision making, understanding, and actually in one or two instances, empathy around those who are elected to lead our response. The only redeeming thing for me is that Chris Grayling hasn’t been one of them.

Don't forget, the current statistics are showing UK as having something like the second or third highest death rate v 1M population in the World, I have no doubts that other Nations are either sending in dodgy statistics, or have got very lucky, but it’s still appallingly bad for such a wealthy advanced country, and has to point at just how under prepared, ill equipped and almost blasé our successive Governments have been for a long while. Too little targeted very poorly indeed.

The majority of areas of the world that has had , in very short time spans to cope with this virus have made mistakes,  ,on the very sharp learning curve that has been involved when trying to find ways to combat it 

Even countries that went down the do little route, ie Sweden,are now have the highest fatalities per head of population in europe ,

It will be several years at least before ,any real ideas of how to make the least mistakes will be available to maybe cope with the next , and IMHO more dangerous outbreak

It is not any good trying to blame anyone,

Except probably  the place it was allowed to escape from in the first place
