The news reader at 11 am on radio 2 has just said the current advice is to avoid un-necessary travel on public transport. No mention of other methods of travel.

A CL with EHU (I take it you still want that facility) could be the answer, surprised

Whichever site you were to use I doubt that social distancing would be problematic. Cls sound a good bet if for longer periods simply due to costs although many commercial sites may well be having offers soon to combat low usage.

I think most sites in the not too distant future will have their gates locked easy

At The moment Myself wife and Dog are still planing to be away in the Motorhome for at least 2 weeks in April visiting 4 different sites. We are both in the hi risk catagory (Bramble isn't!)

Being in the Motorhome is a form of isolation in itself, apart from using communal facilities on site which can be mitigated against by extra Hygiene precautions and distancing, club pitches being 6m apart are better than living on top of nieghbours in a flat, terraced or semi-detached house. keeping all surfaces wiped down with disinfectant or alcohol gel etc will help keep the virus at bay but as with all things, it is a personal risk......

If the campsites close or travelling is completely stopped, i will be doing some maintenance on my 1995 Renault Trafic Elddis Eclipse such as welding in new sills and a bit of internal TLC.........

whatever your decision is it will be the right decision for your circumstances and help protect your family.

Just keeping an eye on it. In theory I have three 9-day trips booked to different areas.

Might not have been the best year to push the button the camper purchase. I mean, not that I'm psychic :)

I note that the C&CC web site Coronavirus update says that sites must not be used for self isolation (no doubt the sites will close anyway but this is the latest information.) It's not a personal risk choice it's a collective active response the whole population will have to adhere to in this present difficult situation.

Probably so JK but, in general, I doubt that sites will close until commanded to do so. Certainly pubs and cinemas will not close nor the majority of 'non essential' shops. They simply could not afford the loss without support. I suspect that if the government issues legal restrictions that pubs, restaurants and cinemas will initially be restricted to closure at 6pm (or similar) and maybe at weekends. Time will tell

I suspect that to be a poorly worded statement Brue. One would hope that such advice was in the instance of somebody infected using it for isolation rather than somebody merely avoiding contact as a precaution.

That seems a bit perverse. If they are staying open for business, they must know that they are likely to get someone taken ill whilst on site. What if they are not fit to drive? It would be interesting to know what they propose.

Probably a case by case basis. If we were in that situation I have the means to get the caravan off site whether or not the car remained there initially.

The key word would be if, I doubt that holiday businesses will be able to operate, the movement of people is now too risky not only to other holiday makers and local people but also to staff.

i think in all of this your are not taking into consideration just how poorly you may be, a doctor writing about her experience of having the virus says that for 2 days all she could do was sleep and drink plenty of fluids to try to stem the excruciating pain in her throat and aching limbs, from some of your past postings it would appear that you are not exactly brim full of health and vigor, if you were to be infected and have to return home have you thought as to how difficult this journey may be, and i think the ccc have said you should not be self isolating on site so you would be forced to move, this club would probably take the same view.

Most sites, as with other businesses, will stay open unless compelled to close or will restrict their activities only as compelled.

so by your own admission, if i am reading this right, you would be prepared to get somebody else involved to remove you caravan and take you home, great, another  person possibly infected.

this is what Ianv8 has just posted in OS section, we should be doing the same,

Just been told we have to leave our site in Spain, 3 to 7 days, all sites in Spain to be closed and France likely to follow.

    and the FOC say

Coronavirus: Britons urged to avoid non-essential travel abroad

    says it all really

Certainly pubs and cinemas will not close

The Oden and Cine World chains have decided to close ET in view of what the Government stated yesterday. The Clubs should do the same.

Good for them as I suspect a good place for the virus to pick up new hosts. I cannot see smaller businesses making the move. I wonder how many of cinema staff are on zero hours contracts?

I have been in conversation with some one at EGH and understand the cancelations of holidays is at unpresedent levels   , and the problem of staffing levels on sites is already having an effect at some

It might just be the insurance thing again. Big businesses, as well as small, will have insurance policies. It might need a particular Government policy to trigger that cover, hence firms of all sizes will resist as long as possible from making a unilateral decision.

This doesn’t of course mean that individuals who use those services have to carry on until someone up the intelligence chain makes the decision for them, the perfectly reasonable carry out their own private risk assessment and act accordingly. That risk assessment should, but might not, include carrying the risk of contamination somewhere else. Hence for example, if anyone from the London area is thinking of self isolating here in Yorkshire (all bar Leeds) we politely ask you to stay away!🤔
