If anyone is interested in getting a good, balanced, in depth report about what is happening across the UK, and in some other countries I suggest tuning into Channel 4 news. It’s extended to 90 minutes at the moment, and is covering different aspects from the nhs perspective, business perspective, family and individual perspective, as well as the rational behind government policy and how countries are pooling knowledge across all good practice. No sensationalism, very good reporting.

It’s a very good news programme, looks at ideas from a number of perspectives. Only 60 minutes tonight, but full of information. It’s the only time we put TV on at the moment, usually sat having a meal. Did you see the reports from hospitals showing staff training as well? Very interesting.
The App is one that has helped in China. It’s a tad controversial, mainly because of our culture around civil liberties, but at the end of the day, someone else’s civil stance can go swing if it saves hundreds of lives. Particularly as they mentioned using the NHS Firewall to try and protect information.

First post here, apologies for butting in but theres a similar debate running on Facebook.
Some model figures in comparison to Italy I posted...By yesterday there were 55 recorded corona deaths in the UK, this has risen by 16 to 71 deaths to date.
Italy had 51 corona deaths on the 2nd March, rising to 79 on the 3rd March, so just under two weeks ago the Italians were roughly where we are now.
Italy had 345 deaths today to reach a total of 2503, they had 694 deaths in the last two days. If the same model is followed then the UK will be seeing this level of death around the end of this month.Italy went into full lockdown 4 days ago. If the UK do the same, we can expect this to happen around the 26th.
So for anyone making plans, expect there to be tough movement restrictions soon

My wife is a police officer. She’s just got home from todays shift telling me, all plain clothes officers are to check their uniforms to see if they still fit, if not then they have to exchange for uniform to fit before Friday.
All leave cancelled for the next 3 months.

They are asking detectives/ undercover officers/ maybe specialists like forensics to go back onto front line policing Rocky. They don’t usually wear uniforms. I think this is what it means.

Not surprised, as the Bobby in uniform has far more presence on the streets, when there could be more problems to come
I also hope they are all being trained in the use of tasers
So they have more protection ,with the rise in what seems ferrel youngsters

We once shared a lovely CL with holiday chums, one an ex miner from Doncaster, one an ex Police Officer from Devon.....it went a bit quiet round the drinks when they realised they had both been at Orgreave the day it really kicked off.....but we all stayed friends😁

I was working in a Sports Centre close to Silverwood when it went pear shaped there, we hid a few miners in the squash courts, but they had to sit down and keep still as the lights worked on motion sensors. Next day we had local bobbies in for their regular cuppa whilst walking the beat, we took no sides😁

We skirted Pendle Hill last week in Jeep pliers😁Drove over Forest of Bowland, down to Sawley Abbey. Beautiful countryside, we would like to explore more with MH when things get back to normal. Haven’t been into Lancashire for years😁

Pendle hill famous for its witches , Forest of Bowland , these were our regular Good Friday hikes when i was in the youth club late 50,s, , yes I am a Lancastrian , another favourite was around ingleborough, swimming in the water falls, happy days, am going to put it my list of areas to visit when all this is over, but firmly tied up at present.

We wont be going anywhere until this blows over. We sold our caravan a few years ago and now have a VW camper so we use the site facilities all the time and yes, they are well kept and cleaned but one never knows. Also our ages are getting on we prefer not to push our luck at the moment.
The government may make our minds up for us in the near future so we shall she what happens in the next week or two.

That's a very underrated area which we love visiting. We've stayed a couple of times at Drake House Farm CL, high in the hills above Clitheroe with a fantastic view across the valley to Pendle Hill. The climb up there from Barley is unexpectedly tough! We have a cottage booked in the area for June, but not sure if we'll have to rearrange it now.
PS - if visiting Clitheroe, make a bee line for the famous "sausage shop" (can't just remember the name.) Time your visit for when they're putting the samples out and that's lunch sorted!

I am surprised the CAMC have not yet taken a strong lead on this. It is obvious from the 30 or so pages in this thread that there is a split of opinion, with I think a majority in favour of not travelling around the country towing their caravan behind them. Of course, it is very frustrating to cancel any holiday, but around the world millions of people are having holidays cancelled or shortened. There is an argument that caravanners can “self isolate” on their pitch, but there is still a possibility they could spread the virus. Some local communities in Cornwall, Devon and North Wales are petitioning to have caravanners and holiday homes owners to stay away, and to ignore these pleas could well cause problems locally when this crisis passes. There have been threats to go to the National Press, and I’m sure the Daily Mail would love to present the headline “Selfish caravanners spreading the virus across the country”. In order to “do the right thing” and not just “follow government guidelines” I strongly feel it is time for the Club to close their sites for a period of three months. It would save any criticism surrounding the translation of “non-essential travel” and members would know exactly where they stand.
