I can’t see anything specific regarding the uk? This was issued yesterday...

”Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab gave a statement advising against all non-essential travel overseas in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.”

No apology as I did not judge nor I condemn. However if you felt insulted then I do apologise

I am afraid that I do not follow all your, or anybody else's posts. I posted on recalled info.

I generally am able to remain courteous as you yourself so, although I may stray when attacked directly with some calling me stupid.

You may not have judged or condemned - you simply "assumed".  If you'd read my other posts yesterday you would have seen that I'd already rearranged one of the cottage breaks. So your comment was already incorrect. And I have certainly not called you, or anyone else "stupid". frown

I never said you did call me stupid M and hence why I was able to be equally civil. As I said M, I have not read all your posts and based my question on those that I recalled and had read. I applaud you in doing what you believe correct.

Thanks, Metheven, I’ve been looking for that.

For anyone too idle to click the link or who doesn’t believe in the reality, here’s the headline -

"The PM has said everyone in the UK should avoid "non-essential" travel and contact with others to curb coronavirus - as the country's death toll hit 55."

    Nick Lomas - take note!!

It appears they are not listening. I just hope they are reconsidering their position.

Thanks. Yes I saw that too, and assumed he was referring to travel in the UK. I was talking this morning to some friends who were under the impression that he was referring to travel abroad? I find it a bit odd, if the advice is not to travel, how the club can keep the sites open.

Yes unnecessary UK travel 2 days ago and foreign travel yesterday, perhaps Mr Lomas has had an extended lie in for a few days.

This is the latest from Spain, I know it is tough on hoteliers but i am sure this is going to happen in the UK, so i see no reason to keep Club sites open for whatever reason, goodness only knows how all those Brits touring in LV's and trying to get home are going to survive

British tourists who are currently in Spain have been ordered to return home by March 24. The Spanish Government has confirmed that all hotels will be closed by next Tuesday and has urged all British tourists who are currently in the country to contact their tour operator to arrange travel back to the UK. A Foreign Office spokesperson announced on Wednesday: ‘The Spanish government have confirmed that all hotels will close in Spain from Tuesday 24 March. ‘We therefore advise British travellers in Spain to contact their tour operator or airline as soon as possible, to arrange their return journey home before this date.’

I think you confuse "attacking" with "disagreeing". I mean,  I could have interpreted your accusation that I "decry" people as an attack. It was, of course a completely ungrounded comment, unless you can find any post of mine that you have read where I did in fact do that.

Anyway, as expected, the thread has unfortunayely now degenerated into sniping. Maybe best to withdraw.

I take great care not to attack people, Easy. Moulesy has summed it up in that you obviously can’t tolerate anyone disagreeing with your view and lately I have disagreed with you over several matters. That is the nature of a forum.

Yes, I read that too.  OH's sister and husband have been in Spain for nearly a month now, but have their own apartment.  So, arguably, better off than some.

They were booked to fly back on 30th of March with Jet2, of course Jet2 stopped all flights last Saturday.  They had a text from them, saying their flight is cancelled, and have now booked for the same day with RyanAir.  They, and we, will have to wait and see whether by then RyanAir will still be operating.

Don't envy them, but when they went, things weren't as bad as they are now, and the way it seems to be spreading, the lockdown may last longer, who knows?

I apologize M. You are not one to criticise forum members. Decry was far to strong a term in your instance with regards to comments about the actions of the general public.

I would be grateful if you would accept that apology which is offered with sincerity.

    Alan

You’ll have to be careful M, but try places like motor factors. They have huge rolls for the wiping of greasy fingers, not as aesthetically pleasing to use, but does the job in emergencies. Better bagged (nappy sacks) than flushed. After that, it’s bin it or burn it. Either way it shafts the environment, but Mother Nature is already doing a reset at the moment.

    😈😁

picked up 6 rolls in Halfords, they are them special ones for use in LV toilets, more expensive than the average Tesco sandpaper ones but better than newspaper laughing

Faced with a moral dilemma when daughter's partner said they were down to two loo rolls, he has spent most of the week saying this is all a bit of a fuss, now he'll spend the rest of the week on a loo roll hunt... (I'll give them one if things get really difficult, I'm not that mean wink)

So following the post I wrote on here yesterday, with today’s recorded deaths we are closely matching the Italy death rate they recorded 12 days ago.

Today the Italians recorded 475 deaths, if we follow the same model, the UK will be seeing the same on or around the 31st March.

Italy have had well over 1000 die in the last 3 days. That’s three catastrophic airliner crashes on three consecutive days if you like.

i said schools would close first, by the end of this week, I was right, I’m saying now, a full lock down will be enforced by the end of next week, if not before.

Finally, the clubs attitude in remaining operational in the face of government advice, is appalling.

So over the course of today I have received an email telling me a pub/restaurant I use is still open, the National Trust are opening all gardens and parks for free entry, the club is keeping sites open and the World Health Organisation say that once person to person transmission occurs in a country travel bans serve no purpose.

I also called the restaurant, within a hotel, to confirm they would be closed on Mothers Day to be told no, they would be open but keeping things under review.

Now, after a break to watch the daily briefing, all schools will closed and it seems that the main area of concern re travel is that of public transport-the tube and buses being mentioned.

None of what you say is surprising. There was no way everyone and every business was going to stop under advice. However, it will be forced upon everyone and most businesses next week when a full lockdown comes in, and it will.

When the UK starts recording 300/400/500 deaths a day, which we will most definitely have by the end of this month, there will be extreme action taken by the UK government

The problem i can see with the closing of schools, it will mean thousands of extra  possiible, infection spreaders arround     ,  at the times most of us in the more  vunerable group,     are taking our pooches out ,   and trying to do our shopping when normally it is a quieter period of the daysmilesurprised
