Dreamer, we have never before been in this position so it matters not how long you've been vanning without incident.

Your arrogance and resolute belief in thinking you know better than the Government is astounding! The whole point of staying at home is to help ensure that life does go on. Have you not grasped that fact?

We have just had a few days on the Bridlington club site,we cycled up to bempton cliffs to see the ganets great to see them back again,we felt very safe at all times in our m/home and self isolating was not a problem .This weekend we are going to Chatsworth club site then onto Don Amotts for full  service we will still be self isolating and we have spoken to the wardens and all is OK ,also requested engineers at Don Amotts will wear gloves ,after this we will clean the Motorhome surfaces .Cornwall is calling in April all being well? .

                   Pete.    Stay safe

Agree, Brue, but trouble is, the government doesn’t have any shut down plans, only recommendations, which seem to change from day to day.

They are only recommending that people don’t travel, visit pubs, theatres etc. How many city centre pubs and clubs will be deserted next weekend?

But I won’t be travelling or pubbing / clubbing, definitely staying safe. 🙂

To that end, and in view of some attitudes displayed here, I have just emailed the club urging them to close club sites ASAP.

the government is saying "no non essential travel" if you consider roaming the country and possibly carrying this virus with you is essential travel then you must be living in cloud cuckoo land, as i have said previous, even if you use your own facilities you still have to empty that dreaded toilet casettte , and I hope you dont get involved in the crush to leave site when somebody takes sick undecided I also hope the club can bring some closure to all this lunacy by closing sites until all this is over, yes it could be 3 months as explained today but if that is what it takes then so bit it.

Listening to our local news it looks like they don't want to encourage visitors to the SW and I presume this will apply to all holiday places as Easter approaches.

well done absolutely the right approach, just a pity the club will have to initiate such a move rather than members taking the sensible approach undecided

Not defensive at all TW. I find that you are taking the offense which is common. I don't know if you have noticed but all the governments talk of travel over the past few weeks has been in connection with travel beyond the UK. No idea if that is what they meant on this occasion and no concern wither.

Internal vehicular travel presents no great threat to the country's health. Apply logic rather than rhetoric.

Having already ‘amended’ by booking for Broadway (I wanted to put it off to see what happens), looks like I’ll have to cancel ☹️ Tough times ahead.

We have had caravans and motor caravans,   for many years more than many who post on here     ,and have, been through numerouse major health problems in this country from major foot and mouth ( large restrictions on travel and the use of sites   swine flue which also came  with restrictions     ,none that will compare to  what is expected,   with what is affecting many countries, and is getting worse by the day here, which  this time really affects the human population,

And have to say ,  it seems by posts on here the attitude of some to their complete "in denial" attitude   even after reports on here from those already in lockdown and sites closed, with the latest reports saying the EU are to stop any movement across borders for min of 30 days  I agree that this club and hopefully the ccc will take notice and close sites as another helping method to restrict the spread of this virus

If it dismays you then don't repeat it. Yes it is possible that I could be in an accident. The same is possible on many occasions. I have not had an injury from a traffic accident in the last 50 years and hopefully my good fortune holds.

Whether it would put anybody at more risk by travelling in the UK depends chiefly on what one does in other parts of the country. We have cancelled a restaurant booking for Wednesday and also a meal out with former colleague next week because there is a discernible risk. Driving is not

Hi EasyT, but it is non essential travel isn't it ? A holiday isn't essential is it ? Cheers, Alex.

I see it is advice that we are offered and not an edict. No dread of emptying the cassette and not likely to be shaking hands with anybody whilst so doing. Do you have many conversations at the CCP?

If I was to be made aware of somebody on a site having the virus why would I wish to stampede off?

For many years I have been working with fire safety legislation. In that context easy t would be the ‘responsible person’ and it would be for him to determine what was reasonable in the circumstances.

In simple terms its stated that the ‘risk creator’ is responsible for controlling  the risk.

There is statutory guidance that makes recommendations but that’s a long way from the previous prescriptive regime were some things were quite clearly, ‘you will’.

HMG will not, unless unavoidable, go down the ‘you will’ route which means that people are free to follow the advice and requests in full or, as appears the case, exercise their right to ‘control the risk’.

I presume that if this approach will only change if appears to not be working.

Hi, has there been anything sent from CMC in light of recent news update?  We are due to go  to Buxton on Sunday but will obviously be cancelling.  Do we just go on site and cancel our booking?

    Keep safe all

It’s strange that suddenly people are taking notice of what the government is saying ,when normally they think they are a bunch of *#*

    Evening

I've enjoyed giving my input on here regarding this serious subject and tried to reflect what it's like being under martial law. But, due to some posters head in the sand attitude to their fellow countrymen which I honestly find alarming, I'm afraid that's my lot.

    Stay safe people

Manage your risks as I certainly shall and also the risk to others by no unnecessary contact as I have been doing for a couple of weeks now whilst at home.

I think that the government should have been more directive. A 'request' allows organisations to refuse to allow refunds and for insurance companies to refuse to pay out when people cancel, as the cancellations may be seen as voluntary. Thoughts anyone?

Yes, BE, just got to your bookings page and cancel the bookings. Or of course you could contact HO or the site direct by phone and cancel. You are well within the "slap wrist" time limit of 72 hrs.

Great , life has to go on, we cannot completely lock ourselves away indefinitely, no one knows how long this is going to last.
