Having a gentle mid-afternoon snooze yesterday when BANG BANG BANG, !! Brian was most rudely and crudely awakened -- !!
A Squad of Alex fans passing the residence decided they wanted to share there and then the pleasures they had had at Gresty Road today**. Even tho' it was only a single goal win the fans all agreed it was well worth the 1/6d entrance fee even tho' the programme was dear at 4d for only eight pages
** For today please read Saturday { Well I was asleep - very confusing being woken like that !! }

Programmes at those prices that takes me back. Our excellent programme is now £3.50.
They are running stories from days gone by and it makes me feel ancient when I can remember being at those matches. Saturday's programme had a match in 1961 when Town beat the then cup holders Wolves in a mid-week replay. It was the first floodlit match at Leeds Road. 46,000 plus people cheered as each set of lights were switched on.
A few years later two of the pylons blew over in a storm. One landed on the pitch and the other in the opposite corner fell onto the terrace where I used to stand. So it was back to 2-00 pm kick offs that winter. The original lights were paid for with some of the money Town got from selling Dennis Law to Man City. The fee £55,000, if only you could get a player of his quality for that kind of brass today

Burnley beat Man Utd 2 - 0. Blimey.

Blimey indeed Jill !!
Man U are going thro' a bad patch at present but I believe that the local hardware stores are facing a run on whetstones with Fans, reporters etc getting their tongues sharpened to the Nth degree
Now if they'd been around 60 - 70 years ago the kids would have been sitting on the roadside, with feet in the gutter working away with the blades on the sandstone kerbstones not of course that Brian would know of such practices he's much too young and angelic

I have sort of hidden this here, quite funny. Twenty five years since Eric did to one obnoxious fan what he didn’t expect. Great footballer, a legend on and off the pitch. Sorting out a few other issues nowadays.....😂

After over sixty five { 65 !! } years of being a Crewe Alex fan you cannot hurt my feelings -- I'm armour plated through and through as well as being totally impervious to the ramblings of that pilchard waster !!
( But I did play it a time or three and giggled a fair bit too )

We're off to see history made tomorrow afternoon. Town's women's team are playing their first ever match at the John Smiths Stadium.
They play the Tractor Girls from Ipswich in the ladies FA cup. It could be a good match, Town ladies come into the game on the back of a 12-0 thrashing of Doncaster Belles while Ipswich who are top of the division below suffered their first defeat of the season to 10 man AFC Wimbledon .
I'm not sure if you can say ten man in this context🤔
Anyhoo COME ON YOU LADIES Rog⚽️

Well that didn't go to plan. The lasses lost 4-1 although Ipswich couldn't get out of their half in the second half they defended well.
The gate was a record for a Town Women's match, 1115.
The match was preceded by a minute's silence for one of our former players who was allegedly murdered in Retford on Friday night.
RIP Jordan Sinnott

Yes saw that papgeno, very sad.
Shrewsbury Town played very well this afternoon, excellent result for them, thoroughly deserved. Won’t say more in case others are going to watch highlights.

They've got an excellent chance of progressing to the next round. Herr Klopp has said he'll be playing his kids in the replay. Apparently the FA have written to clubs telling them not to play any friendly or competitive matches during the winter break, so a trip to Stamford Bridge could well be on the cards.

Home town team doing well.....pulled away by a couple more points today.

Ok I'll bite Brian.
The Terriers showed a bit of fight on Saturday scoring twice after going 3 down at the Cottage. They just couldn't get the equalizer.
Still we've now got two home games and a chance to see what the new boys can do, although one of them is our PL keeper returning on loan.

Well, well, well ! Who would credit it !! - t'mighty Alex played true to form again -- went one down, then a few mins later equalized. teased Oldham right up to 7th minute of added time, then b-boom, three more glorious points for Crewe

It must be seriously bad conditions for them to postpone a Premier League game!!

To be honest, I wasn’t sorry or surprised to hear that the Man City v West Ham match was called off, the weather here in East Lancs has been absolutely wild today. Feel for the W.H. fans who’d already travelled to the game though. Hopefully the clubs will compensate them for their expenses and inconvenience.
Sky TV won’t be happy though...🤔

The God of Football was shining in Sheffield yesterday at Bramall Lane. Torrential rain most of day, up to start of game, sun came out, stayed out until final whistle! I starting to think Sheffield United might be the new Leicester City😁

Hillsborough is a ground I don’t think I will want to return to any time soon. The away end is still frankly horrendous and unsafe. Bramall Lane seems so much better.

Something strange happened at the John Smiths on Saturday . The ref blew his whistle and told our player to put the ball on a little white spot about 12 yards from the goal. He blew again and our striker scored.
I believe that's what's known as a penalty but it's so long since we had one that I'd forgotten what they were like.😉
Still three very welcome points and it's home again tomorrow against the Bluebirds. I'll be wrapping up in as many layers as I can find, the forecast is for brass monkey weather.

League 1 is getting interesting now we are getting to the 'Business end' of the season.
The Mighty Millers are top (8 wins in 9 matches) but with yesterday's results not exactly going the way we wanted (what were you doing Pompey? A draw would have been great!) our goal difference could make a difference.
Hopefully Peterbro' will run out of matches (& goals) as they have played 2 more than us, Dark horses Sunderland coming up on the rails with Coventry a threat.
We (RUFC) still have to play Coventry, Portsmouth, Wycombe with the last game of the season against Sunderland. How do the fixture planners manage to get these nail biting end of season matches so right?
Locally the Blunts are doing great & Chris Wilder must be in with a shout of Manager of the season - despite Klopp's fantastic achievements at Liverpool.

You And Yours just concentrate on your SA tour young Moulesy.
Travel safely please
P.S. Did you notice the Record time from USA to Heathrow -- Wind assisted I know , but if you can get that Jest Stream to do a detour you could arrive there before you leave here
