Deposits?

the only trouble I see is if like me last year I had a accident the day before we was going to leave for hunters moon in Dorset . I was unable to drive leg in plaster . so I would have lost deposit though a accident. I am sure that I have a black mark against my membership. but the first one in eleven years. would the club lose members over it ?

That equates to choosing HS or grass, just like C&CC👍🏻👍🏻

We have in the past "booked " a specific room in in hotels but as with any places that can "assist" it is all depending on their expected occupancy figures when you are going, but with the high occupancy of a lot of uk sites it would be "difficult",with keeping pitches aside until a set arrival books in

If and when deposits are introduce we can look forward to a lengthy discussion on the subject May also be a need for wardens to sign the Official Secrets Act!!!!

See, its different, they are not a club! We members all have that fair opportunity to choose from what is vacant on arrival. No pandering, no preferential treatment, no humouring, no attempting to countenance custom just plain equal opportunity!

Quite possibly but I don't recall that specific post as you make so many along those lines.
Did you not recognise the tongue in cheek approach in my earlier post? I knew you’d not resist it. 🤣

Just about to send 2 deposits for CLs for next year plus 1 independent site. As Another David said, deposits used to be asked for many moons ago.
Stop throwing the dummy out of the pram. At least it will stop members who just block book "just in case" and who knows touring might just become more, well....., touring like and available.

No dummy throwing here, WN. I really don’t bother about it either way.

That applies to whoever tells a certain poster here as well.
EGT, you have a leak.

I find the bit about reprogramming computer terminals baffling. It’s so easy to do, hardly needs much effort. Unless of course Club has one designated person touring the sites!
We have now had early closure of a number of sites, followed by an earlier than usual rise in prices, both confirmed. Now rumours of deposits to be taken, not categorically denied. The soup is definitely getting thicker. If the Club loses many of its unique selling points, I can foresee quite a few calling it a day and looking for sites elsewhere. Even for CL type sites, there are other outlets. If farming community takes a hit, the I am quite sure something like NFU could take on certification. Just a thought........

Booking day changed, now deposits possibly changed and charged?
but then what will people complain on here about? All that is left will be dogs?

Steady on Corners There’s loads to go at before we tackle the dogs issue...........adult only areas, HS v grass, metered electric, plugging in cars, larger pitches for awnings, lengthening school holiday peak price periods, etc.......

That would rather fly in the face of what the CMC has done in recent years as they have always maintained the the 72 hour cancellation period has been a success? Now if a deposit was introduced how would the Club explain what had changed to alter the cancellation period from 72 hours to a month? If the 72 hour rule has not been working, and we have been given no indication that it has not, why have they not just extended that 72 hours to a week? We will, of course, have to wait and see, but to go from the current system to one of taking deposits is a big move and suggests the Club have not been very open with members of the real consequences of the 72 hour cancellation period. We await with interest!
