Have a wonderful time, we were there recently, lovely site, and with age concession a good price.  A lovely walk along the canal to Devizes.

Good choice; it's a lovely site. Straight out on to the towpath and there's Devizes in one direction (Wadworth's brewery is worth a visit if you haven't been before) and in the other direction, a very good pub, The Barge at Seend Cleeve. 3 Magpies on the corner just outside the site is OK for basic pub grub and can recommend The Lamb on the Strand not too far away for a special meal.

It's very underated area, IMHO, with tourist hotspots like Lacock, Castle Combe and Corsham all within easy reach. smile

And a nice canalside pub if you walk the other way. The Barge. Not far from the campsite either.

More manual labour yesterday and today. Area being worked on now finished (I think).

All we have to do now is tackle the back garden. I now know how Triky is feeling.😓

Day off from DIY today, and a half day off yesterday too.  Instead we made soup for all the family coming to lunch today.

New recipe that OH found on line.....roasted butternut, sweet potato and carrot, with onions and garlic.  It was delicious!

Tomorrow will be another short day as we are going out for lunch apparently, then back to the work on Tuesday, more painting no doubt.

Nice morning wandering round Barrington Court just as it opened, the tree colours are so good this year, must get myself to Stourhead soon. Catch up in the garden this afternoon, me, planting bulbs and OH getting the leaves up. He's bought a leaf sucker and blower,  a bit noisy but it makes sense and saves a lot of raking day after day, we have a lot of trees, so a lot of leaves. smile

Mrs One arrived at Barleywood this morning.  6 mile walk from Burnham Overy Staithe to Holkham Pines.  Had a mini meet with Mr and Mrs Buemalaga at Wareham Greens.  Not too many birds around but did have a Barn Owl entertain ussmile

A misty start to the day but the sun soon burnt it off. Drove up to Minions Car Park on Bodmin Moor and we were out for over 3 hours, mostly in glorious sunshine although a mist did come across for a short while. Walked up to the Cheesewring Stones on Stowe Hill, past the Boundary Stone to the old quarry where had lunch, across Craddock Moor to one of the old copper mine pup house then through The Hurlers, stone circles, to the Heritage centre at South Phoenix Mine and finished off the walk with a circuit along the old track ways. Managed an hour sat out in the sun at the van before dinner.

Glad to see that Mrs OP hasn't suffered any trauma from all those youngsters earlier in the week.

Brue, we visited Stourhead this time last year, and although the trees were in their autumn colours, we didn't think that it was as spectacular as the last time we were there. Don't know if we'll get there or not in a week or so.

WN, I bet you'll be glad when all the ground work's complete, although there's bound to be more work to be done, I'm sure.

Just looking in on CT, The OH's pacemaker procedure didn't take place so went through the apprehension then  the disappointment.

Today saw me pack up the boat for the winter, just in case we get that phone call to say that there is a date for the procedure. Caravan is likewise in hibernation.

Travelling to the boat club in the Trossachs the autumn colours were stunning!

    Hi Nellie.

    Sounds like you're having fun.smile

I think this week should see us done, fingers crossed. Might have to take MIL to Manchester to see how her brother is getting on but apart from a couple of medical appts we may get away soon, just in time for the snow.foot-in-mouth

All going well so far, although driving round some of the roads round here does certainly keep one on one toes. We leave Cornwall on Wednesday and head back into Devon and what will probably our only CC site this trip.

Any ideas of where you'll be going next trip to get a bit of sledging in?

Hope all goes well when the appointment comes up. The Autumn colours are the best I have seen them for several years, I put some pics of our local scenery on the "what have you seen" thread. Worth going to look at arboretums etc just now, I can well imagine the colours in the Trossachs were as you said. smile

How disappointing and frustrating robsail.  I do hope your OH gets another date for the procedure soon and that all goes well.  We have put our caravan into hibernation as well as OH has quite a few hospital appointments and a minor op coming up during the autumn. although as we have 'a window of opportunity' we are off to see the family in N. Ireland for a few days at the end of this week.

brue, I also think the autumn colours are the best for sometime this year even though I seem to remember reading that the colours wouldn't be good because of the long hot summer. Apart from storm Callum last week I think this autumn has been wonderful.

Had the morning off. Well sort of, the food cupboard looked a bit bare so went to Tescos. We know how to live the high life. This afternoon was tackling the garden afternoon. That Berberis really extracts its revenge.

Nellie, no idea where we'll be heading. A recurring theme this year, good job we like mystery tours!

Arrived home this afternoon after one of the best Autumn holidays for a long time.  Fantastic weather for October. Finished off the week with a visit to NT Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey both well worth a visit smile  Had a last night drink the the Wanderer Bar at the Knaresborough site, it's a nice onsite  addition,  they serve a very acceptable pint of Timothy Taylors too.

Letter in the post when we arrived home from some old friends to say they have now moved to South Devon, good excuse to plan another holiday to visit. wink laughing

We also arrived home this afternoon, decided not to spend the night at Jedburgh as we were there way to early so just kept on driving. The weather was lovely blue skies but it was certainly a chilly start to the day up on the Pennines.

H&T glad you had a good trip too, totally agree with you one of the best autumn trips we've had,  7 weeks and only had rain twice.

Caravan unloaded and first load of washing in machine, garden is going to need a lot of work, grass has not been cut while we have been away, not sure why yet and the weeds are taking over frown we will have to be quick as they have forecast snow on the high grounds and very cold everywhere else.

A guy came this morning to give our beech hedge a good haircut . A good job done before the winter. Our hairdresser also came so we  have also had good  haircuts.😂. This afternoon we went for OH's pre op before his op next week. Very impressed with the efficiency and kindness. All done very quickly.

Glad both Helen and Trevor and tammygirl are safely back from your travels and have had such a good time with lovely weather. This autumn has been wonderful. We are off to see the family in N. Ireland on Friday for a few days. I think I will pack the winter woollies having watched the weather forecast😲

Another beautiful cloudless day in East Cornwall, especially out of the cool west breeze. Drove down to Looe and up to Hannafore from where we walked the coastal path westwards to Talland and back.

I can't see the attraction of Looe. There are many much more picturesque and less busy coastal villages, & although the walk was pleasant enough one couldn't call it spectacular. I certainly wouldn't want to be anywhere near in the height of the holiday season.yell

Returned from our autumn trip to Chipping Norton and Oxford last Thursday, where has the time gone? Contrary to others we had the coldest wettest greyest week I think we've ever had away in our motorhome, 12 years 😢 courtesy of storm Callum.

We managed to explore Chipping Norton in full wet weather gear - beautiful church, wonderful volunteer run museum, nice tearooms and we followed some of the British Legion plaques naming and details of soldiers lost in WW1, I'll try to post a photo from my phone but I'm typing on my tablet. A day out in Witney, started wet but dried up and some sun and very windy. The town walk and Blanket Hall, church with a beautiful harvest altar, were lovely, didn't have sufficient time to take in the museum as we caught the bus last one home at 4pm. Travelled to Oxford in the rain, snuggled down on arrival - a dribble of water coming into the motorhome, found and sorted on our return! Always plenty to do indoors in Oxford even if you turn up at The Ashmoleum when it's closed 😂. OH suffering from a cold, which is still hanging around.

Been catching up with posts on here. Delighted others have had better weather. We returned home to sun and it's been lovely since although chilly today. Our garden's being tidied, mum's and aunts too. Our motorhome put away for the winter yesterday, only managed 44 nights this year.

Sounds like DIY, gardening, packing etc is keeping everyone occupied and out of mischief if they're not away.

Hoping to see some autumnal colour, leaves are not turning much here yet, we drove home Thursday in the sun and remarked that they were more autumnal Oxford way than here.

Disappointing on your OH operation postponed Robsail. Hope DSB is doing OK, anaesthetic does funny things to some - I'm one of them! Had optician checks for lenses and glasses being put forward for cataract operation as it's reached the stage it can be done now. So have to await contact from appointment folk, I understand I then get to choose where I can have it done from a list - more thought etc. Still at least I had some me time this afternoon with reflexology.

Hopefully managed edit on time to add photos. Hope someone can identify flower along the bank on the Thames walking towards Iffley. Nice pub there and 11th century church.

Hope you have a good trip to NI and that your OH's op goes well next week, millie.
