Happy birthday to your Mum TG! I am busy knitting some fingerless handwarmers for mine!

I remember you saying you were doing a 'fiddler muff' some time ago how did that go, I liked the sound of that. Good luck with the mits.

Sounds like folk have had enjoyable or productive days.

Tammygirl don't be too tidy in your garden the hedgehogs and bugs  need the Leaf litter 😉.

We've not seen signs or had visits from Arbuthnott and his chums since 8 October, a bit early for hibernating according to what I read. But last night something visited our sleeping and feeding place as we have hay out if the entrance, little or no food gone but a slug seems to have crawled over it 😲. Friends up the road hadn't had a visit for a while but did have one on Sunday and it had left calling cards. We all thought maybe they we finding more natural food? But we've not even had calling cards, not seen any squashed in adjacent roads so fingers crossed!

Took mum to the foot clinic, she's had a painful toe, it is a hammer toe, for several weeks. GP gave her antibiotics incase it was infected 😤 and said if it didn't feel better pay and go to foot clinic. Turned out she has a pressure ulcer  so waste of antibiotic and time 😤😤😤. Taking her back Tuesday to be checked but I've managed to get her INR  check at the GP round the corner straight after - result. (Brother now has boot off after breaking metatarsal and should be ok to drive in a week or 10 days so we can come off full duties 😁 it's been a long 7 weeks!)

Called in Sainsbys on the way home, 25% off Tu clothes, managed to get 4 tops for the winter 😁😁😁.

Been sunny and cloudy but a real chilly wind today. Taster of what's to come?

Bidding went well I guess, Goldie, or you wouldn't have posted it on here. Hope that the others brought in a large amount too.

laughinglaughing no fear of that happening, we've got  2 very high and long hedges so always plenty of leaf litter under them from the silver birch trees.

Lots of our neighbours are elderly ( 90's + ) so their gardens are a haven for all the beasties wink haven't seen any hedgehogs for awhile here either or their calling cards, we used to have a whole family at one time under the shed. frown

As soon as the hammer falls she belongs to someone else. They will milk her (facilities at the auction). She and another of ours are going to another organic farm. They've bought several of ours over the years so must like our herd. And for those who need to know these things her name is Strickley Strawberry 10th.

The other two were both bought by another bidder.

And there's another chance to but some Strickley stock next month at Penrith (a smaller sale).

Lovely bright and sunny day but it is getting colder Brrrr!

Went to see Mum this morning for her birthday, I think she enjoyed herself. Its hard to tell some days but she was cheerful and very chatty, kept asking 'who's' birthday was it. Then was surprised when we said yours, Oh!  how old am I laughing she now has a new soft cuddly toy to chat to, she loves all her 'pets'

On return we both got down to work, I did one more bed in the back garden, while OH started to wash the caravan. Once I'd finished in the garden I gave him a hand to finish off, as it was getting a bit cold.

No snow yet with a bit of luck it will just stay on the hills but I will have to go our and cover one of my new bushes as I think its a bit delicate and I don't want the frost to catch it.

    Have a good weekend folks.

Francis same here. Just 30 mins from home on a lovely farm CL. Planning a lazy day tomorrow and going sloe picking on the farm. We'll be making sloe gin and sloe white rum. The white rum went down better last year than the gin, so more rum has been requested. Also going to a local tapas restaurant on Sunday. The weather can do what it's likes as we're cosy in the van. 😊

Sunny at times interspersed with heavy showers coming off Dartmoor. Shopping at Lidl, Kingsteighton before a walk up on Little Haddon common, and a short visit to Trago Mills.....more bulbs for the garden and paint for home. I guess I know what I'll be doing before we set off again on our X-Mas/New Year trip.

I've been having bulb problems of my own. The ruddy cover won't come off the one in the oven. I think it's cross threaded but it's at an angle that you can't get anything arojnd the back of it and the bulb has blown. Must have wasted an hour or two of the day on it.

Any suggestions folks? Molegrips will smash the cover but won't remove the fastening. Don't want use WD40 in an oven! Grrr.

Can you gently warm the cover up, just enough for it to expand slightly, and then you may be able to make it turn. Perhaps a little silicon spray on a tissue and then smeared over on the joint may also help.

We are the other side of Dartmoor Nellie..........and boy did it come down this afternoon! Cold night up here tonight. Lovely drive over Moor though, it brought back some nice memories. We used to ride out of Lydford Stables and up onto Moors proper, some great riding with a nice guide. The stables had some ex chasers, absolute so and so’s to saddle up, but a dream to ride. Those were the days......laughing

Not really Nellie as the metal ring that the cover is screwed onto expands with the heat and makes the fit tighter.

Am going to try fairy liquid gently rubbed into the exceedingly small gap, but tomorrow as too tired now!

I suppose it depends on the shape. Perhaps a wet cloth (turn the power off first!) would allow you to get some grip. Or use the molegrips gently with the padding of the wet cloth in place. You only need it to budge a bit before being able to undo it by hand.

Sorry Rocky, it was 4.3c at 9am this morning, glorious sunshine pouring into the conservatory now. I'm about to go out there and shorten 2 pairs of jeans. Hopefully still be nice later on for a walk. I need the daylight now to do sewing jobs so can't walk yet! Just done the accounts, bank slightly up on my balance 😁 nice surprise.

Took ourselves to St Albans yesterday, further than we thought 😲 but only an hour and a half. Trying to find parking was tough. Went to see Poppy Fields, which we saw on TV news when in Chipping Norton as the installation was in Christchurch Oxford, missed it as that was the last day 😤😤😤 but they said would be in St Albans 26 & 27th before going to Lichfield Cathedral for 11 November. Explored the cathedral and Abbey church, medieval and some of  Roman St Albans. Beautiful mosaic floor and hypocaust, through the window as closed at 3.45pm 😤😲. Very cold wind but bright and sunny. Sampled the delights of a Moroccan restaurant, very nice, before being 1st in the queue for the installation - most most unlike us!

We got there 6.45, open 7.30, we were hoping to wait inside but alas no. They did open the door soon after 7pm so not too long to wait. Very enjoyable and moving, glad we actually explored the cathedral first, as only installation lights and candles. Very effective. So glad we went early when we came out huge queues 😲😲. M25, we went A414 and very pretty it was with the autumn colours, was busier than we expected mostly 50 or 60 speed limits but no queues.

    Enjoy your day folks.

Frosty start to the day,  but sunny so very enjoyable walk with the dog.

Just starting to wind down after a very stressful week at work, seriously considering a career change undecided  Done a few household jobs this morning as OH at work, they were really short staffed so he was persuaded to work. I've finally got round to the housework that I've been putting off all week. surprised

The builders on the housing development next to our park have apparently been turfed off by the council, wondered why it had been quiet, and no building going on, not sure why,  will have to try and find out.

Taking the caravan back to storage later, no trips now for a few weeks cry

Enjoy the weekend, don't forget to put clocks back, to enjoy an extra hour in bed!  smile

Hope you recover from your not so good week Helen. I would enjoy the clocks going back and the extra hour but I fear grandson's 7am rising will now be 6am or worse! wink

Good that you got to see the poppies B2.

Coming up to finalities with the family moving north so will just enjoy the last bit now.

Off to the theatre soon to our "free" show. The theatre gave away tickets to regular attendees, so it's a bonus afternoon out.

Brue the grandtwins have a clock that shows the Sun and the Moon and they know they aren't to get up until the sun pops up, so daughter can easily change the time.  Have to say they were very good with the system.

Mummy came and picked them up just after 9am to take them to a party so the house feels really silent and empty without them.

Just been for a swift walk down to the beach as we have sunshine and showers, the temperature hasn't climbed into double figures yetsurprised
