I thought at first you'd caught me out with one we've not visited, brue,  but looking at it's web site I remember it now. Good for apples I seem to recall. It will be rather dark on there at this time of year I think.

Yesterday we did a bit of site seeing ourselves, visiting Castle Combe, not as special as it's reputed to be IMO, although we did have a nice walk along the terrace above the By Brook, then onto Biddestone which we thought was more interesting, and finished off at Laycock, where I got a copy of John Betjeman's biography for a bargain 50p! Stocked up again at Aldi at Melksham on the way back to the van.

Woke to the sound of rain on the van roof but it soon stopped and eventually the sun came out late in the morning. Today we drove to Bowood House and had a good wander rounds the grounds before lunch and then went into the house in the afternoon. The trees in the park were the most colourful that we've seen this autumn. It's just a pity that we could only take Flyte walking around the large car park. Called in at Sainsbury's at Chippenham for diesel at 130.9p which is by far the cheapest we've seen for quite a while down in the SW.

TG's problems with visas has reminded me to sort out mine for our silver wedding cruise next year. Musn't leave it too late although USA shouldn't be so difficult.

We did a cruise for or 25th, really enjoyed it.

TDA glad you got to St Mary's we always pay it a visit, OH went to the school just up the road from the club site and visits there always end up in meeting family, old school pals etc. I'm used to standing on pavements in Warwick whilst people relive their pasts together. wink

Unfortunately we can't do a break away unless we do it soon, too many other things happening so we'll have to brave the weather! Hope others are enjoying their breaks too.

Or with a smart TV you can stream original content commissioned by the streaming service. As well as the old stuff from back in the day👍🏻😊. Nat Geo is far from rubbish CY, the High Def or upscaled 4K is awesome.

Very frosty start to the day but at least the sun is shining. Off into town shortly  for a hair cut,  may have a mooch around the few shops we have left undecided

Nice to read about trips away,

Brue hope you have good time and weather isn't too cold. We have a couple of weekends planned before Christmas, last year we had snow so hoping it's a bit milder this time.

Millie all the best for Mr H's hospital appointments .

HD good luck with your telly shopping smile

Nellie and brue, I will post some photos of St Mary’s, you know where! I’d have to crop them down too much on here.

Last hour on here for us, glorious sunshine, but cold overnight. Frozen dog water bowl this morning. Think we are just going to head straight home today rather than stopping off somewhere.

USA is a piece of cake compared to India CYfrown they certainly don't make it easy, you would think they would do all they can to encourage tourism and simplify the system, or at least get their facts right. It used to be £30 per person now its well over £100 each plus if you go through an agent and extra £35 each for processing surprised

Where are you going for your 25th?

Sounds an interesting cruise TG, and very complicated.

Interesting is what we thought when we saw it and booked, never gave it a thought that visa for India would be so complicated or expensive frownVisa's needed for other ports/countries but they seem to be quite straight forward (fingers crossed)

Dull day so far so off to cinema for a break from all the hassle laughing never been during the day since I was a kid but the other viewing is at 9.15 tonight.

Thanks TDA, if anyone wonders what the inside of this collegiate church looks like I found an old Youtube clip. Hearing some of the music there is another reason to step inside.

WN,  Not  heard  if  you  have  cured  the  cooker  light  problem  BUT  :--

if,  as you  say,  the  thing  gets  tighter  if  its  warmed / heated  could you  cool  it  with,  say,  cool  bag  freezable  blocks  ??  One  of  the  elements  should  have  a  different  co-efficient  of  expansion  so  chilling  might  do  the  trick  assuming  you  have  not  gone  the  "Hard  Route"  and  hired  an  oxy-acetylene  cutter  gulp surprisedcool

We’re home! Good run up from Warwick until two junctions from home, then the M1 curse kicked in! However, we were on home territory and took to the hills so to speak, so rattled last few miles off nicely. House bitterly cold on arrival, but stove is now glowing and we have had a meal, just going to finish off unloading and draining down. Mountain of washing, but it’ll get done!

    Safe journeys to everyone else!👍

It is a fabulous church, a mix of the very old, and the not quite so old due to a fire. But a who’s who of English history is buried in there, including Enoch Powell! More interesting than some Cathedrals we have visited, and much loved by the people of Warwick.

    Nice smile

How are you getting on with the MH ? funny how you went 1 way and we the other.

We are looking at where to go next year with the caravan, got a fancy for Austria and Italy, haven't done either in about 30 years. Not sure if we will get away in the van for awhile as we have a lot on, maybe early December for a week or so if we are not snowed in laughing

TTDA glad you got back home safe and sound after a good trip. We can travel all the way back from France without a hitch, then we get to 50 miles from home (Edinburgh) and grind to a crawl yell laughing

Waiting for a reply from a CL owner this afternoon for a quick 5 nights away from Friday when MIL rings from her Wednesday club. I don't mind taking her and 3 of her friends to the Crematorium to pay their last respects to a dear friend recently departed, do I? Course not I replied. When is it? Monday! Oh well there's always another time.

So rang my cousin to meet up for a bite to eat on Tuesday lunchtime.

Glad you had an enjoyable break Ttda. Funnily enough we were heading off to Warwick area.

    Fingers crossed Millie.

We completely changed our first long break this year. SW was so busy we opted to head North instead and had a great time in Northumberland and Scotland. But it’s been a great two and a half weeks away lately. Fabulous weather, we have been very lucky.

Last night was the coldest we've had this autumn trip, -3.1C. Water was frozen at the tap although it was lagged. Sun came out about 8:30 and the water was soon running, so we managed to get a round of washing done. Pleasant walk along the canal from the site, although it was a bit chilly when the sun went in. Saw 2 more Kingfishers during our walk. Last night here near Trowbridge before heading up to Pardon Hill tomorrow.

We've had the MH just over a year now and we are glad we made the switch. It is just so much less hassle getting it on and off the driveway. Quicker to set up when arriving on a site, far more flexible when it comes to touring. The slight loss of living space is the only real downside. Whether the novelty will wear off after a couple of years remains to be seen.

Would agree with some of those comments CY.

We had our MH for 6 years. No issues with parking it at home, setting up on arrival we've not found it to be that much different to be honest due to division of labour wink The loss of space for us didn't happen as the MH and caravan are of equal size, although the bathroom in the caravan has more space due to the layout.

Flexibility - we find we have more with the caravan once on site as we have the car to visit further afield. OH never liked moving the van for the day to go somewhere and while we did try visiting things on the way to our next stop it was a bit of a hit and miss.

The biggest downfall we think with the caravan is the lack of sites in France after the end of September, while the MH's can stay out longer and use the many Aires. We never did use aires but it was always there as a backup should we need to. Just need to plan a bit more with a caravan.

All in all this last trip we found to be more relaxing, we still use the bikes but now they are for fun, rather than a means of transport. Like you said maybe the novelty will wear off in a few trips, especially if we get bad weather.

We have discussed what next and as it stands just now it will be a PVC, can't believe that we are even thinking about one as its not long ago we both agreed we would not go there.

    Apologies for going off thread.

Woke up to fog this morning not something we get a  lot of here. Not feel so great again today still headache and feeling tired, bit queezy too.  Had an appointment for Pneumococcal jab this morning but cancelled it until I feel better.

Didn't sleep very well woke up at 5am and couldn't get back off, head spinning with lots of things going round and round, wish we had an off switch.

Sun now out and can see patches of blue sky, still cold out though OH tells me.

OH still sorting out the visa's, its going to be a very expensive cruise. Oh well just means the kids get less when we 'pop off' laughing will need to speak to practice nurse as I think our 'holiday' vaccines need renewing.

MillieH hope all goes well with OH's Op.

We are much the same as you TG we have been back caravanning for a year now and love it. Its great having the car again while on holiday also we have much more space in our caravan than we did in our motorhome even although the MH was larger. We have however just bought a little classic 25 year old camper which is a short wheelbase we intend to use it for days out as it is car sized so easy to park. We are looking forward for going out for the day and being able to make tea when out. It is small so we dont intend to use it for nights away we will still be using the Cvan for holidays and weekends we may use the camper now and again if we only go away for 1 night (rare)
