Fingers crossed brue. Will be thinking of you. Sorting out heart related problems has come on immensely nowadays.

Good to hear Devon is still warm, same up here. Still no rain, bit cooler today.

    Best wishes Brue.

MIL and Mrs.WN were in an upmarket clothes shop yesterday (surprise, surprise) and they were talking to the shop assistant about thefts. The assistant told them that last week someone stole the toilet brush from the toilet!!!surprised Mrs WN still shivering at the thought. As she says she wouldn't put our brush in her handbag never mind one from a public space.

Heard it raining during the night. Took me a while to work out what the noise was.lol.

A spot or two of RAIN here this afternoon, in Newton Abbot.  It's stopped now though, but is a bit cloudy.  Been to the 'House Of Marbles' in Bovey Tracy this afternoon.  Looking for the ones I have lost!!!  😉😉

Arrived home this afternoon following our 18 nights away, dull here but still very warm.

Good trip, only one day with a little rain (Whitby), 3 good CLs and a very nice CCC site at Keswick, the Derwentwater one.

Lots of weeds in the garden however so plenty to keep us busy once the van is unpacked.

Possible delay to DD's house purchase due to solicitors and local holidays, hopefully only a day ir two.

They have had 2 more viewers for the present house since we went away, but no offers as yet.

Just a thought about the benefits of this hot, dry weather.  I think the last time I mowed the lawn was the 7th of June.🌅 Clean the car, must have washed off thousands of insects 🐜, started me thinking there must be millions splatter each summer so how come this form of birth control doesn’t seem to have any effect?

So sorry to hear the news about your family member brue. I do hope you get better news soon. Sounds like you are having a good holiday. I have some lovely memories of many happy holidays in that part of Devon when I was a child

Have a great holiday in Wales Helen with your clean and fluffy dog.laughing

A day of 2 halves here. Cloudy and very cool thus morning and then the sun came out in the afternoon and it was very warm. I have spent the day in the wrong clothes laughing. I tried a new U3A group this morning - Art History. It was Rubens today. I had no idea  he was a diplomat as well as an artist and got his knighthood mainly for  his diplomatic skills. He got a knighthood from both the English and Spanish kings. We also learnt a great deal deal about his art.

Sounds painful Robsail, do hope things have improved for your OH.

Thanks for your kind words one and all, the  "patient" is being moved between hospitals due to work overload at the first one, both big hospitals so adding to concerns. Anyway fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Have a lovely break H,T & fluffed up dog! wink

Glad you have had a good holiday Kj, hope the house sale goes through, our son and family are waiting for completion too. Then they are moving in with us till they move north, we have become a repository for all their collections, junk and paraphernalia. That is why I am trying to enjoy our week in Devon before sinking into chaos, not to mention the builders at work too. Help! yell

Spent  a  few  minutes  this  afternoon  taking  some  exercise  !!

Well  I  1}  removed  4  tyre  valve  caps

    2}  adjusted  four  tyre  pressures

3}  replaced  said  four  valve  caps.

So  all  tyres  now  at  required  pressure  and  I  even  got  in  a  few  good  chats  to  passing  neighbours,  something  that  has  been  lacking  lately  'cos  I  don't  tend  to  go  out  much  in  these  temperatures,  even  when  I'm  in  residence  wink

We know the feeling!  We have one room full of their "decluttering items", plus 5 budgies making a mess in the utility room as the sun lounge was too hot for them.  They will have to be moved back upstairs tomorrow so OH can get to the washing machine before we run out of clothes.

This weekend is the start of the "Glasgow Fair" so solicitors are off on Friday and Monday, so an exchange of money and keys on Wednesday seems unlikely.

However a last minute glitch has just come up.....an unknown mine shaft just inside the garden.....so there may have to be some re-negotiation on price if this affects the surveyor's valuation. The whole area has old mine workings all over the place.

Missives are not yet concluded, so they could still pull out of the purchase if necessary.  They really do not want to pull out as it is a lovely house in an ideal location, and within budget.

They had some nice, and very enthusiastic,  viewers today, so are hoping for a good offer on their present house before long.

Hope your relative is soon on the mend brue, it must be very worrying.

By 10:00 a.m. this morning it was starting to get too hot to sit outside. So we put the coffee table and relaxers back inside the awning, closed all the caravan windows and door and put on the airconditioning. It soon got nice and cool and comfortable. We had lunch at about 1 p.m. and once again nice to eat in cool comfort whilst it was hotting up outside!

After lunch, we went shopping on Brighton Road in East Worthing at Sai  Cash and Carry where we bought some pickles. Following this, we went to Tesco Extra where we bought a bottle of Whisky, filled up fuel for the Smart car and then returned to our airconditioned caravan to relax and chill for the rest of the day.

We watched Serena Williams win the Wimbledon semi-finals. Following this, we put some music on the cd player, 100 hits Rock Album and I had a Scotch on the Rocks accompanied by Tesco Classic dips with Tortillas followed by dinner. I've just woken up following about 7 hours sleep and enjoying some blue cheese and biscuits plus a pot of freshly brewed Yorkshire tea.

The other advantage with the airconditioning, is that with all the windows and door shut, it cuts out all the noise of traffic on the adjacent road, Titnore Way! So there is total peace and quiet!

Yes, as others on here have commented, in the last few days the weather has turned cooler than it has been but still too hot in the afternoon for me!

At the moment, my wife is cooking a full English breakfast on the electric hob in the awning. Sausage, egg, bacon, baked beans, fried bread, mushrooms and tomatoes. We've had our starter of Weetabix with milk and raisins already.

Afte breakfast, I'll probably go back to bed to get some sleep and recharge my batteries ready for tonights 17:00 to 22:00 shift. I'll get up for lunch, of course and then back to bed for my afternoon nap, followed by tea and sandwich and then get into my uniform ready for work.

They are heavy, huskydog! Each pouch has a metal hotplate in it to keep the pizzas hot. Sometimes I have to load 3 at a time in the car! Also there's half an hour commute each way which makes it 6 hours and an extra hour can be added on at the end of each shift if orders keep coming in near the end of my shift.

The end of my shift is the start of my evening. I need two hours to unwind, have a meal etc. before going to bed.

Blue skies and another hot day.

One of the lowest tides of the year has stymied our plans for lunch over the estuary at Starcross. Last day here, it's been a good rally and Exmouth is a nice place to have a holiday. smile

Do you keep a note of how many flights you climb and how many paces you walk each day?   My daughter gave me her old FitBit which I find very good for checking that I take enough exercise.

With stairs in the house and plenty of things to keep me busy, I find I regularly notch up 20 flights and at least 6000 steps, more often over 10000 steps.

I could never eat the amount you appear to, especially not when it is so warm!  Breakfast is a small plate of cereal, usually with blueberries, a small slice of home made white toast with a little jam or whatever,  2 cups of tea, and a small glass of orange juice.

Lunch is usually a small slice of home made wholemeal bread with cold meat, some salad, and a cold drink or mug of coffee.  Sometimes we have a biscuit too.  Occasionally we have an omlette instead of a sandwich.

For dinner we have a portion of chicken, red meat or fish, usually a modest portion of potatoes of some type, but rarely chips, or a small helping of pasta or rice, and a large helping of  vegetables.  This is followed by a low sugar yoghurt or some fruit.  Usually we drink water with our meal, sometimes a no added sugar squash or flavoured water.

Supper, which we do not have every day might be a glass of milk or a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, with a small  biscuit.

Even the above relatively modest diet is probably more than we should really have!

Wine and spirits are consumed infrequently, and we almost never have things like crisps or snacks, other than at Christmas/New Year, but I am allowed some nuts now and again.  OH does not like nuts.

My sister is diabetic, so I am trying to eat fewer carbohydrates as I have no wish to follow her, but I am sure I could do better if I tried harder.  Thinking of getting a spiraliser to replace pasta with vegetables on a regular basis, Lidl are having electric ones on offer from Sunday.

Surely the evidence is whether one puts on or loses weight? If it stays constant, the input must be right for the energy expended so there’s no need to fuss about quantity.
