Yes, SteveL. That's why I thought it unfair that I should be threatened with a ban or suspension for 3 months just because someone complained about the frequency and content of my postings. Like you say, at the time I posted, everyone was asleep and unable to respond so that I was the only one posting at that time. So it came as a bit of a shock to suddenly get an email the next morning threatening me with a 3 month suspension.

All the reporters have to do, is to leave Rowena in peace and stop bothering her with incessant complaints, please, I beg of it! It's not a lot to ask. Then all this trouble can be avoided.

It is not like a real life conversation with all present and somebody unable to get a word in edgeways.

The other piece of advice that I hope is not meant literally is that we should avoid disagreement. As far as I can see there is nothing at all wrong with people holding opposing views and disagreeing as long as they do so reasonably - otherwise we would have a forum full of Stepford Wives.

I hope my recent posts will not be considered as off topic. Granted the posts are not about visiting places but they are still about what I am up to.

At the moment, I'm not sure what the November costs of the seasonal pitch bookings are likely to be, as prices tend to go up every year so I am budgetting over £2000 to pay for Northbrook Farm as well as Gatwick and I certainly have more than sufficient credit available on my Tesco Club Credit card to make the payment so that it translates into Clubcard points which ultimately earn me even more money. It's a win win!

Now please don't get me wrong. I'm not telling everyone else on here to live their lives this way! I'm simply relating how it works for me! If folk on here think it's wrong, they are welcome to tell me, as long as they don't keep worrying Rowena by reporting me!

Today I'll be going to the bank to pay in all the cash paid to me in drop money and tips over the last few days and looking forward to seeing the new figures of fund boosting to my account!

At least your giving them counter business M. So many seem to be closing. It's difficult to pay cash / cheques in on the internet. Our nearest branches are currently 7 and 11 miles away. If they close those we will have to look at using the post office. I believe you can pay cheques etc in at these now without any charge.

I am fortunate in that I have three different banks within 1.5 miles and parking within a few hundred yards of them with parking 30p for an hour.

    Thanks for the response, SteveL.

I used to pay cash into the Goring-by-sea branch which was closer to me and easier to park the car. Unfortunately, they closed it down giving the reason as less usage because of internet banking. However, like you say, you can't pay cash in through the internet!

Now the nearest branch to me is in Durrington which is further away and less parking available because all the parking spaces are taken everytime I go there. So nowadays I drop my wife off outside the branch and let her do the paying in work, having filled in the paying in slip before leaving home whilst I circle around in the car!

Bright sunny day here in East Norfolk, hopefully help my concrete to set.

BIL's 70th birthday today so might take him out for a pint in the local Wetherspoons (if Mrs BIL allows) where he can create more wheelchair mayhem and get me deeper in the mirelaughingsurprisedcool

Yes but if you use the post office, it takes time before the money reaches your bank  account. If you pay through a bank branch, it gets updated immediately. Through a bank branch you can pay the money in, whilst logged into internet banking and watch the new account figures appear simply by refreshing the screen! That makes you happy!

For what it’s worth, Steve and Malc, this is my interpretation of the explanation Ro posted some time back.

Bank closures is a good example as a few have commented, on topic, in a brief conversation about how the closures affect us. I think Ro’s view is that to continue with an in depth discussion about banks and closures is drifting off topic and the subject should then have a thread of its own.

That makes sense to me but correct me if you think I’m on the wrong track.

Another fine day here in Cumbria - but cooler. We're waiting on completion for the land we bought a fortnight ago. Paperwork comes and goes to the solicitor and bank and all we can do is look over the wall at the grass growing on the other side. Hopefully we're nearly there (and then the paying starts - the deposit was just a drop in the ocean relatively speaking!).

If there wasn't all this going on we could have snatched a few days away - but we need to be at home to keep on top of the paperwork.

The problem with that, Tinwheeler, is that when someone says they are going to the bank as something they are up to and people respond to that, it needs to stay on the same thread, otherwise the continuity of the conversation gets lost by being split between different threads.

Hope it all works out Goldie, will you be able to silage cut it straight away, or is it not that type of land?

It must be frustrating to be tied down like that, Goldie, when the weather is so lovely and you would like a break!

A couple of days ago, my phone packed up whilst I was at work. I was doing a delivery at the time to an address where I was only given a house name and postcode. It was late at night and dark. On the details, I was given a description of the house i.e. detached white house with a driveway. None of the houses near that postcode either fitted the description or the house name so I couldn't find it. So I phoned the customer to ask for directions. The phone suddenly wouldn't work. So I moved to a different location and tried again, hoping for a better signal. Still no luck. So I had to go back to the shop to ask the manager if he could let another driver do the drop as I couldn't ring the customer for directions and couldn't find the address.

Next day, I went to the Tesco Mobile phone shop and was told that the battery had become too old to hold its charge and recommended getting a new phone As I needed a phone urgently for work, they provided me with a new phone and new contract with getting to keep my existing number but have lost all the contact details stored on the old phone.

Next, I got it linked up with the carphone. So now all is well! The Pizza Hut customer got his order delivered with a new freshly cooked hot pizza as compensation for having to wait.

Farmers don’t go on holiday when the weather is good! Best time is when it’s raining, so as not to miss good silaging weather etc.

How exciting, the paperwork seems to be progressing at speed compared to house sales 😉. Do you have a hold over solicitors or paying over the odds?? 😲😉😂 It must be frustrating watching the grass grow 😉😉. Could you offer some rent for it and then graze it/silage/hay cut in the meantime? Can't remember if you said it is already organic and certified?

If you can't get away at least you can sit and admire your new purchase.

A glorious start to the day here 😆. We'e had no rain skies stayed clear and it was very light until 2230 and midnight.  I'd been to sleep and something woke me, our street lights go off at midnight but the sky was clear and light.

Good news Arbuthnott or a mate is back, calling cards left 😉. Hedgehog food always goes, mixture of dried kitten food and bird suet pellets but unless you witness it being eaten you're never sure. I'e seen the fox, nextdoors cat and the birds in the feeder 😂😂. Good job hedgehog poo doesn't cause the same concern tion as dog poo 😉😂

Leisurely day for me, morning free early lunch, collection of a top in store before reflexology 😆.  Bliss don'tspoil my day!

Oneputt I'm sure you'll be allowed to celebrate with your BIL 😂

Ps OH reckons to coat fences, it's a job I enjoy but I do get mucky 😂😂😂

Not at all unless someone has a very short attention span, Malc. We move from one thread to the other and utilise the copy and paste tool if necessary. It’s not rocket science. You sound as if you’re trying to be deliberately contradictory.

I’ve made my point and I leave it with you to consider the options of either starting a new thread when appropriate or breaching the guidelines. Your choice.

Glad you got your phone sorted, we do rely on them so much these days. Out of interest do you get an allowance from Pizza Hut towards use for work? 😉 thought not.

I'msorry you lost all your contacts. I'm surprised, if you were in store, that they didn't get you to save them to your SIM first before changing phones. Did you/they try charging or  battery on old phone? Too late now any way.

Note to self always back everything up 😃 like what I don't 😂😂

Edit just read previous posts - Oneputt has started a thread on banks and building societies. Good job there aren't stars any more 😉

It has to be completed within 28 days of the auction - but can be sooner.

At the fall of the hammer it was ours and we had to write a cheque for 10%. The rest has to be paid by the day before completion.

It's not organic land - but as soon as it's legally ours it will be "in conversion" and we can use a percentage of 1st and 2nd year conversion grazing/silage as part of our organic status. In two years it will be fully organic (as it will be farmed the same as the rest of the land).

The first thing we will do is cut the what grass there is for silage, the graze some heifers. We will be keeping one filed as an old fashioned hay meadow, and not touching until later in the year.

Thanks, Bakers2. I've just found the new thread on Banks. It wasn't easy to find as I didn't know which heading to look under, so I took a chance and clicked on General Chat and there it was!

I did ask the Tesco Mobile salesman whether my contact list could be moved from the old phone to the new one and he said this was impossible because the phone was already dead so couldn't be accessed.

Luckily, I found the new thread on banks and building societies but I must admit that I usually do have difficulty finding new threads. There are so many headings and you do need to know which heading to look under. It's not always obvious as there are some topics that could come under two or more headings and still be on topic.

Please post photos. I was entranced by the meadows in County Durham, Northumberland and the lakes. So like the fields of my childhood, so rare in the south now 😢

Let me help you, Malc. This forum is about our hobby. Only one section deals with non-hobby topics - The Social Room.

Within The Social Room is General Chat bearing the description ”For topics not covered in other discussion areas and a place to chat.” I’m sure you can work it out. wink

A lot less bother and probably cheaper to have just got a new battery  but then the salesman would not have got anything out of that compared to the sale of a new contractwink

No I think you are on the right track. There is of couse the judgement call of when this should occur, plus of course as M rightly says there is the continuity issue. When I came back to CT the banking thread was at the top of the discussions list, so I realised one had been started. If what are you doing today had been at the top, in all likelihood I would have gone into that and possibly continued there. Thereby ending up with banking being discussed in both locations.

Hope it all goes through ok Goldie, when it's finally yours you can all go skipping over the fields. laughing
