Site rules for all

The alternatives are irrelevant to the actual post. He may as well have said there were plenty of wild camping spaces around Loch Maree- One even has a toilet and cold water. Used them all in my time from the 60,s when I ghillied on the loch during my Uni vac and after that with Lee McNally, who used to live in the now Ben Eigh visitor centre.

Stayed on a site last week, where everyone abided by pitching their vans, etc, to appointed peg, except for a member that drove onto pitch, faced wrong way, and put up awning. Full view of warden, but nothing done. So what's the point of rules anyway.........

......oh dear(I), I faced the 'wrong' way at Minehead this weekend....nose in, to get our door side facing the sunshine....
......oh dear(II), it was plenty hot so I wound out my awning.....
all these rules.....it's so hard to keep up...
even a few UK vans here with their doors on the wrong side but no one cared

No one cares here either, BB. It’s official👍🏻

Try it at Sandringham, That is the trouble no consistency,go to one site you can, go to another you can't, warden discretion, consistency consistency and consistency on all club rules cannot be that hard but from experience it is.

The new site plan does not support that.
There does not need to be any discretion. Both back in and nose in are fine, as detailed on the plan insert.

Sandringham is an exception to the pitching arrangement rule, H. I believe it's been discussed before and has something to do with a local rule which may have now changed anyway and nothing to do with warden discretion (can't be sure, never stayed there!)? But that's not the same thing as inconsistency in my book.
There is a thread running on the new site plan maps which makes pitching arrangements clear.
Edit - beat me to it Steve and with a much better explanation!

Sandrigham did have that rule, and other site I believe but can't remember which. It appears that you now can pitch how you want?

The key to all this is the position of the awning,it should be like the diagram which means foreign van with door on the other side MUST go nose in, no awning does not matter which way you go in, but then wardens discretion sneaks in just to muddy the water, if all the site's used the same rule we would all know and this question will never arise again, and the price of bacon will rise, and bears will still do it in the woods.😀

not at all, I was given a leaflet by the wardens at Edinburg that showed all possible combinations, awning either side and car either side. It was also in a club magazine.

There is no rule to say you cannot have awning to awning or car to car as long as there is 3m between them. You’ve got the wrong end of the stick there, Hooker, and it matters not which side your door is.

Yellowcraig has some pitches where you can pitch up lengthways, peg in middle of long side of outfit!

even on an awning pitch at Minehead, it was impossible to site an awning to the left (viewed from the road) of the van...
with the peg (one of DD's?) in the extreme back left corner reversing in would have had us stepping out of the van onto the 'grass pitch divider'..
for caravanners, with awnings, the car was parked at the front of the pitch.
so, I guess the size of the pitch and the position of the peg will have an influence on to how one might choose to park, rather than the 'rules' as formerly stated.
just need to speak to a warden about parking across the back of the pitch....

Was the spacing requirement maintained despite where he pitched? Maybe the warden gave him permission to pitch like that.

Which might have been perfectly OK. On a pitch with little car space I have pitched nearly a metre off the peg with warden's agreement who passed comment as I was pitching up and I explained the clearance maintained. Still had about 8 metres from nearest caravan.

Not sure how anyone was supposed to work that out from your original post:-
Stayed on a site last week, where everyone abided by pitching their vans, etc, to appointed peg, except for a member that drove onto pitch, faced wrong way, and put up awning. Full view of warden, but nothing done. So what's the point of rules anyway.........

I must just stop and think this through before jumping. The rule states, and it's written on the pitching diagram site map we recieve on arrival that you pitch to the peg or ask if you wish to pitch differently. Thing is some pitches and some 'outfits' will allow that 'different' pitching and still maintain spacing so whilst others will not. All we have to do is ask for advice. Some folk won't bother mind and just do their own thing. For me the problem is that once discussed and that different way is agreed should the warden then move the peg to match or leave it where originally placed for the guidance of following members? Some seeing the peg being moved or, alternatively the van not on the peg will make that incorrect assumption.

That's what tends to happen when there is no info from the OP or the club forthcoming.
No site reviews have been left for the period in question, except one complaining of noise on the roads that pass the site, not attributed to anyone in particular.

Hello everyone,
We just wanted to provide some further information regarding the film crew at Kinlochewe Club Site.
The film crew are staying in motorhomes, one to a pitch, on pitches 34 to 48.
Crew vehicles, equipment etc., is being stored neatly in a row in pitches 26 to 33 with no one living in the vehicles.
The generator is in the area 53 to 56 along with the make-up studios, costume, toilets, showers and storage, no one is living in this area and the vans are spaced 4m to 5m on average.
Access is still available to the motorhome service point and information room. The dog walk is fully open with one access point at the far end (the other being closed due to safety issues with the film equipment). The closed entrance has two signs at various points whilst the remaining entrance sign has a note advising of the need to return via that point. All arrivals with dogs are told of this.
The generator is off by 10pm with site staff in attendance. The site staff has described the generator as quiet but rumbling. They have been asked to start the generator no earlier than 7am.
The generator is a small discrete unit about the size of a transit van and the warden on site has been measuring the sound with a sound meter to ensure it isn’t causing a disturbance to members on site but if anyone does have any concerns staying on site please speak to the site staff as they will be happy to help.
The distance between pitch 51 and the makeup unit is 12m. The distance between the units in pitch area 55 and pitch 14 is 20m.
In all these 3 areas access to bins and emergency services and distance to fire points has been checked and is all ok.
Everyone is told about the situation on arrival and the pitches furthest from the film crew are offered to members who are pre-booked. The closer to the film crew pitches are offered to off-roaders and everyone who makes a phone booking is told about the situation and advised that they may be allocated a pitch.
The area of most activity is opposite reception, it gets a lot of film crew coming and going between 7am and 9am and between 5pm and 7pm. The site staff actively manage the site and this area at these times.
Many people are enjoying the experience of staying on site with film stars however, we are very sorry to anyone who has felt this has impeded their enjoyment of their stay and we have worked hard to make sure this has had minimum impact to guests on the site. The film crew left the site on Saturday 9th June.
KathrynJ10, I’m really sorry to hear that this has disturbed your stay. Please feel free to speak to the site staff or email our Club Sites team UKSitesBookingService@camc.com if you wish to register your concerns with the Club.
I hope this helps clarify the situation in further detail and please let us know if you have any questions.
