I doubt that the CC has let 'pitches' simply rented out an area of hardstanding for the film crews to use. As for the effect on the rest of the site it may be minimal for all we know.

    Too little info

Perhaps, apart from a vast sum of money passed to the club, the correct risk assessments have been completed and found the risk minimal 🤑

Asa frequent user of Kinlochewe, I would also be furious if the site was used as a film crew depot. That's not what I would have paid for.For those who say go elsewhere they obviously have no idea of the area. Where do you find an alternative site in that area? Seems greed over ruled the MEMBERS needs.

Given that the site is divided into a lot of separate areas, several of which the film crew seem to have been assigned. It seems unlikely that spacing to members has been compromised. Although so far I have not seen any details from K on this aspect.

The only cause for complaint I see is the lack of advance information. Even if some sort of non disclosure re the filming was involved, the club could have contacted those booked and told them a section of the site was closed off for works, which might be disruptive.

Morvich seems to have space all week for anyone unhappy with the situation. However, personally I think I would stay.

K can we have some facts please re what is being filmed, plus who is involved.

She may not have a choice to move, either.  She may be like me - OH used to tow the caravan to a site, and leave me and the children there........................ and later post-children leave me on my own to have a few days of peace and quiet and knitting and bird-watching, without access to a car.

She's complained about the noise, the traffic, and the presence of film crews and (presumably) film cast and obviously hasn't got what she was expecting from the site.  She mentions that the wardens, and other customers are not happy....................... !  Yes, she could complain to the club HQ, but she's quite entitled to complain on the club's forum too.

Don't the other club also have a site at Inverewe?

Unless I have missed something Val, K seems to have provided very little information. Her main issue seems to be the lack of spacing between film crew units.

    Spot on, Steve.

I’m not defending the club here and feel it’s wrong that they should disregard the interests of members but, if the units are well away from Kathryn, then she has no need to be concerned about their spacing. Normal rules need not apply.

And, Fish, you’re forgetting the two commercial sites at Gairloch.

Fish, for once, I agree with you.

I’ve been visiting that area since the mid 70s and know what it’s like.

However, nothing alters the fact that the OP is rather reticent with giving information, has not acknowledged our advice and input and seems content to stay on the site while complaining about the spacing between the film crew’s units which, apparently, doesn’t affect her. I repeat, though, that the club should not disregard it’s members in such a high handed manner.

Can we refer to Kathryn as something other than "K".....

I'm quite sure we don't need his opinion on the debacle.......surprised

You mean you didn't read this:

We were told the generator will start at 6am. That'll be fun. Not! It's the size of four berth caravan itself.

    and the reply?

Of course they haven’t turned up on spec!

Now you tell us of a generator from 6am. Wait and see but it doesn’t seem conducive to peace and quiet.

    and missed reading this:

Already by 8.05am we've had a whole succession of cars, minibuses, transit vans and one HGV driving through the site.

    Actually, I wrote that.

At the start I was responding to one post only to find another had been posted by the OP with a bit more info which could have affected the response I was providing. It was very frustrating.

The usual way is for people to post the whole tale at the start rather than ask a question to which they already know the answer and waste someone’s time in replying. OPs generally then respond to requests for further info.

PS. Ah, I see you spotted your error and edited, Val. In that case, disregard my opening sentence.

PPS. I see no point in nit picking at each other, Val. Kathryn doesn’t want to help herself by answering pertinent questions so there’s little we can say or suggest.

I suspect that the crew waited until a reasonable hour to go to the film set Val. As for the large generator who knows. The ones that have been used in residential areas when roadworks that I have been supervising required disconnecting mains supplies were virtually silent.

I have no idea where the units are for certain but there is one area of the site that seems isolated from my recollection and I would have though that other than initial set up and removal of the camp that disruption would be minimal at most.

If you feel otherwise Val you can always invite comment from CC

I know that area and the site very well, so might I suggest that for those who don't want to share the site with a commercial company, that they, as an alternative, drive for a bit longer  further north where there is a wonderful site on the banks of Loch Ewe at Inverewe run by the "Friendly Club".

    the "Friendly Club"

Did they give themselves that epithet before the present booking system?

I've 'reported' this thread in the hope of obtaining an official response from the club.

I’m not 100% sure but-I think if KJ10 made a formal complaint I would’ve thought She could expect a refund for Her holiday being spoilt thru no fault of Her own as in ‘Holidays from Hell’ when building work has disrupted Holidays. Could be worth a call to the Martin Lewis crew for guidance👍🏻😊

I can't say I know the area at all, but in a sense, that's irrelevant to Kathryn's OP. We had a thread running recently (was it by Chrystal? ) about "change of circumstances". I'd have thought that, on the face of what we've been told, that this fits into the category where the club should have informed folk booked to stay while this was taking place of possible disruption to their stay.

None of us can tell anyone how they ought to "feel" about their holiday experience. Some might relish seeing a film crew others might have been expecting peace and quiet. However as it's a "holiday" site and would normally be used by holiday vans it is much the same as any other predictable holiday disruption, the holiday makers should be informed in advance of possible disruption etc.

I look forward to a response from the club as per Jill's request. smile

As I put Val. Has supplied very little information.

Perhaps I should have included pertinent.

There seems to be fairly universal agreement that she should have been pre warned.
