Can someone please tell me what the site rules are concerning space between units? When I get an answer I will explain the reason for asking. Thank you.

That was very enigmatic not to start your thread with the reason for your post.

The club rules are 6m between caravans/MHs and 3m between awnings/cars within that space.

That's why the pitch markers are there to park either the o/s rear corner, or n/s front corner to the peg.

OK, so not a few feet then? Reason is we are currently on a site where a large number of HGVs arrived towing trailers and at least one massive generator. The tractor units were unhitched and placed three to a pitch on another part of the site. The trailers, some with extending sides, are bunched together, some with no more than six to eight feet between them. Three areas of the site have been requisitioned by this large party and closed to anyone else. The reason? It's a film crew.

Now if any member were to pitch so close to another unit we would be asked to move. Fire regs would be cited.

Even one entrance to the dog walk has been closed to members. I was not aware anyone could book a specific pitch, let alone a whole area of the site.

I'm not a killjoy but surely fire regulations are there to protect us all and should be adhered to by all.

Which  site  is  it  please  Kathrynj10

Is  it  a  C & MC Site,  and  if  so  have  you  spoken  to  the  wardens?

It  sounds  as  if  they  are  a  working  unit  turning  up  to  commence  work  on  site.

Kinlochewe. So proper fully fledged site. Wardens know all about it. This has been known about by the club for some time. Yet no one saw fit to mention it to members prior to booking.

Not blaming wardens as this must have gone higher up the chain of command. It must have been sanctioned at head office. Wardens by nature are sticklers for rules.

Agree with ABM. If this is a club site you should speak to the Wardens and then, if you still have concerns, take the matter up with head office.

Be aware that the spacing requirements are not law but a recommendation which the club upholds. I would think it’s possible that such a crew might have signed a disclaimer which would exonerate the club and its insurers from any liability in the event of a fire.

It seems likely that whatever is going on has been arranged with head office and, clearly, normal site rules don’t apply.

This is a big budget affair with big name stars. They haven't just turned up on spec. There are a whole bunch of location managers on site.

We were told the generator will start at 6am. That'll be fun. Not! It's the size of four berth caravan itself.

    We posted together, Kathryn.

If this is causing you inconvenience in any way then complain to head office and seek redress by way of a refund. If it is not causing inconvenience then live and let live.

Is there anything else you want to tell us as the story is coming out just a bit at a time which means we may not be in possession of the full facts when we reply and give our opinions/advice?

Of course they haven’t turned up on spec!

Now you tell us of a generator from 6am. Wait and see but it doesn’t seem conducive to peace and quiet.

Regardless of inconvenience the main point is, you or I would have to abide by the rules. This is a club for members, not exclusively I'll grant you, we have to pitch with due adherence to fire regulations so why not other people?

I just had a look at the site plan and it seems to be divided into several small areas. One, pitches 34 - 48 ( by the dog walk) is more isolated than most. If this is where they have been put, I would not see there would be a lot of conflict, apart from that generator you mention. ( perhaps you can indicate where they are) As to the pitching regs, you mention big budget / big names, so almost certainly there own round the clock security. They are likely to pick up on any problems fairly quickly.

However, agree you should have been pre warned. Particularly as the blurb on the site page states:-

    Why stay here ...

Peaceful and intimate, Kinlochewe Club Site is set at the foot of the rugged slopes of Beinn Eighe, at the end of a beautiful drive along Glen Docherty from Achnasheen. The caravan park is a magical oasis where the world slows down to walking pace and you with it - glittering lochs, lush woodland and mountains provide a paradise for both climbers and walkers alike.

Myself personally though, I would be fascinated to watch and prepared to tolerate a few inconvieniences.

I don’t believe that is the main point and I’ve already explained how rules could be waived. Any variation in the spacing rules is very unlikely to affect you but your concern should be whether the club hierarchy has disregarded its members (the members are the club) to the detriment of your stay on site.

Forget the rules and consider how this affects you and other visitors.

Fascinated or not, the big units, which as I have said are crammed together, are on the right hand side pitching area as you enter the site. The area over the bridge is for their Campervans and the vehicles involved in filming. Not got a problem with that. Plus another area totally taken over with the tractor units for the articulated HGVs. Already by 8.05am we've had a whole succession of cars, minibuses, transit vans and one HGV driving through the site. On the funny side are the numbers of them wandering up and down either wearing midge hoods or waving away in vain the midges.

KJ10, get some pics & post them on here, it’ll also help if you need to ask for a refund & a move due to potential ‘noise nuisance’👍🏻😊

And while you’re at it, get some selfies with some a-listers. Invite one or two to have tea or a glass of wine in your caravan or m’home, and get a picture. The Daily Mail love that sort of thing and will pay handsomely wink

Rather than using your holiday time to go through the club rules, ticking off which ones are being broken, embrace the unusual experience and tell your friends, in fact, tell us all.

Wish I was there to see this.

which 'big names' would want to be seen on a caravan site....?wink

Brad Pitt? Robert Downey Jr? Tom Cruise, even?smile

perhaps it's a film about moving the Club into the 21st Century (let's not get too ambitious, 18 years late isn't bad.... things move pretty slowly at EG....)

could it be Mission Impossible 5?wink

Thinking about it, could it be a new Star Wars movie? A new one is released what feels like every six months in recent times.

Harrison Ford is finally settling down and buys a British caravan, only to find 40% damp in the floor at the rear. Chewie not happy.

Think you can see just how close the units are to each other and how close the tractor units are. At least one tractor unit is connected to the electric hookup so I assume someone has slept in there.

Looks like they have more space than they are used to. I’ve seen film crew trailers parked in much smaller spaces than that with the trailers practically banging habitation doors.

As long as your parked at a reasonable fire break distance, what’s your problem?

As said above, they’ll have their own liability insurance should the worst happen, I doubt however, that lives are at risk.

Nice one. But is it fair that R2 should be recharged from the site hook up? I’m not sure I’d be happy contributing to droid recharging out of my site fees.

Is the gennie causing you a problem, Kathryn?

Often they are very quiet. They’re used at outdoor events so need to be quiet enough not to drown out the music, speeches or whatever.

I’d relax and enjoy the events.

Yep, take your valid complaint to the wardens then have them wake up HO staff, they’ll love you for being so meticulous
