We are just home from a lovely weekend at Ayr Craigie C&MC. My sister and her family came too with their caravan so yesterday we watched the royal wedding and then all had a BBQ together as the weather was glorious. The site was full we arrived on Friday night and never left the site until we left today. Got home this afternoon and gave the van a wash now to get packed again as we are of on Thursday afternoon for a long weekend. Looking forward to that.

My first caravan trip was half-term jolly to Purbeck followed a couple on months later with a trip to Royan although we had previously visited the area with a tent.

Had a productive day today, nets all washed and windows cleaned, before it got too warm.
Sold our large air awning, which we no longer used, have downsized to a smaller one, more manageable.
Took the dog for a walk in the local woods as it was cooler for him, came home a stewed a huge quantity of rhubarb, cooling now ready to freeze. OH has been busy in the garage.
Glad you had a lovely weekend Francis, sounds perfect. We are off to the Peak District for the BH, looking forward to getting away again.
Nice photos Moulesy.

All the upland training in Norfolk has yet again paid off after walking up hill and down dale in the Black Forest. Walked about 8 miles to a lovely little Tarn called Glaswaldsee. Nice to see families enjoying the great outdoors. Last full day here tomorrow before moving on.
Nice pics M,

My eldest son's 41st birthday today and he wanted to have a meal at a Turkish restaurant in CMK called the Olive Tree. A new departure for me but the food was both lovely and plentiful, probably too plentiful!!! Recommended if you are ever in the area. We were also able to eat outside in the sunshine.

Less sunny here in Sutherland, after a little rain last night. We went walking up around Aldie Burn in Moragie Forest before a final stock up at Lidl before we move on tomorrow to a CL on the Moray coast.

A quiet day here, dull too. DD, with baby, is coming to sleep here for 2 nights while her husband is on a school trip, so we have tidied a bedroom, made up a bed, and prepared the cot for the babe. Will be interesting to see if he actually sleeps in it!
Their house should be on the market by Tuesday, so no doubt she will need us to go down there and clean shower screens etc.
Just hope it sells quickly. Another similar house came up for sale on 03/05 and is now under offer, so these properties seem to sell quickly.
Purchase of the new house should be firmed up this week, one week after their offer being accepted, entry has been agreed for 18/07, so less than 2 months away now. Once missives are concluded it will be binding on both parties.
This property was first listed on 23/04, and by 23/05 the sale/purchase should be pretty much agreed, so a reasonably rapid process.
We have also started the process of altering our forthcoming trip so we can be home a week earlier than planned, so assist with the packing. We have cancelled Diamond House at Lincoln, and brought forward our next stop, at Whitby, then we will cancel our stop at Haltwhistle and come straight home from Whitby.

I think the Scottish system of buying a house is so much better than in England Kj.

We met a couple like that on a French campsite many years ago. They had just bought a brand new rather large MH and were embarking on a year's trip round Europe even though they had never caravanned or motorhomed before. I think they were very relieved we were next to them for their first month as they really had no idea!! OH was able to help them out on many occasions. I do think a few trips local to home first might have been a good idea.

Our eldest son lives in MK and has been to the restaurant David, he also said it was very good. Glad you had a lovely day

I do like to try new food but often worry about how spicy it is but I have to say the food was lovely with very subtle tastes. Very attentive staff as well. Might be worth a try next time you are in MK?

Bank Holiday over here in Germany and as it was beautiful sunny day every man and his dog (except for Nellie) was out and about. We parked at a lakeside car park and then left it to them by heading inland over some meadows to a village in the foothills of the mountains. Much nicer as when we returned the cycle routes to get back to the car park were like the motorway a Friday at 5pm.
Spent the afternoon on site doing some laundry and generally enjoying the peace and quite apart from the birdsong.
From what I've heard GB has been enjoying some good weather so I hope it continues until the next Bank Holiday for you all.

Very busy here to yesterday and most of the weekend site full and last night we had 3 units 'waiting' in the car park. This morning it was mass evacuation with units waiting to leave the site. site now back to normal, about 50% full.
Today has been the hottest since we arrived over here with temps reaching 27c this afternoon as we cycled over to Equisheim through the vineyards. Just made it back in time for the heavens to open and a thunderstorm which went round and round the hills for about 90 mins. Then the sun was back out again for a wee while.
Moving on tomorrow, was thinking of going to Beaune but the weather there is for rain and more thunderstorms, so we are staying just a little more east and heading for Bourg en Bresse where it seems the weather will be a little better. Then onto Taunus for a few days to collect our package (charger for the bikes) my sister has sent it out for us and should be here Thursday or Friday.
Hope you are all enjoying the good weather back home.

We have had a worrying few days with our eldest grand-daughter. She suddenly had a blinding headache and passed out while teaching on Thursday so was taken to hospital where she was given a CT scan and a lumbar puncture as they thought she might have had a small bleed on the brain possibly as the result of stress or maybe a virus. The CT scan was clear but the result of the lumbar puncture will take about a week. She is now home and hopefully recovering from the lumbar puncture (not a nice procedure). We have our fingers crossed for a good result.

Thank you David.

Prolonged (we hope) dry weather can only mean one thing - silaging. Mowing started this morning. Whizzing along with a mower front and back.
Lots of lush green organic grass!

Actually got the electric bikes out today, the first time for a long time. We had a shortish trip of about 11 kms through the Linear Park which runs alongside the Grand Union Canal and back. We got as far as Willen Lake which is only a stones throw from the C&CC site in MK. Coffee sitting by the Lake and then back. Good exercise for the knees but I think I need a more comfortable saddle!!!!

Early start this morning for a trip down to the van in Cornwall. Lovely weather and the park is looking a real picture right now, but not very busy with tourers yet. Guess Friday will see a big influx.
Millie - best wishes to your grand daughter, keeping our fingers crossed that everything will turn out OK.

Have a good time in Cornwall moulesy. It looks as though you will have good weather.
Thank you for your kind wishes.

Yes, best wishes from me as well Millie. Very worrying.
Had a lovely walk this morning up into the hills, seeing a Fire Salamander in the process. (Put a piccy up in Wildlife thread).
There's a church overlooking the valley that makes for a pleasant 8 mile round walk. It also has a nice inn right next to it. It was welcome as the climb made us quite well cooked.
We went to the local shop about an hour ago. Nice and sunny and 10 minutes later when leaving found ourselves in a downpour. Typical mountain weather.

so we are staying just a little more east and heading for Bourg en Bresse where it seems the weather will be a little better.
Tammy. We've stayed there on a number of occasions in the past and it has very good cycling around the many small lakes in the area (called Les Dombes). Bourg very well known for it's AOC Chickens, no less. Very pricey though.
