Its a lovely warm day here today. We have just arrived on site in Aberdeenshire sun is shining we have put the awning up but it was a struggle in this heat now sitting over looking the sea with a nice cup of coffee  We couldn't leave home last night until after 5 so we went to Strathclyde Park CC as it is only an hour from home so we arrived on site at half6 and left their ar 10;45 this morning. Aberdeenshire is a place where we have not visited before so we are looking forward to the next few days exploring a new area.

Drinking my last bottle of Adnams Broadside in celebration of our 7500 feet ascent of the Kerwendel Range.  Would love to tell you we walk/climb but that would be pushing the truth.  We did do a couple of walking trails, threw snowballs, had coffee and cakes so a really touristy outing.  We spent easily a €100 on this trip so not cheap at all, but what panoramic views.  Temperature was a pleasant 25C as well.

Everyone away enjoy your travels anyone staying at home chill for the weekend.

Sorry to hear of your operation date David.

DSB - Commiserations but you could almost have put money on it happening.

Nice and warm here in Bavaria, mid 20s. We spent a lovely morning birdwatching in an idyllic location alongside a River bank that became a slow running lake. Couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. Hardly anyone else around and only 5 miles from a small city (Landshut).

Home again, catching up ith the posts on here. Lovely time away - Ferry Meadows, Hartsholme and Mablethorpe with the grand-dog,  still with us until tomorrow. Plenty of data but phone refused to recharge 😲 so limited to OH paygo for calls and texts only. Plugged my phone in, the charger it came with, on our return and it charged and has behaved itself since.

Firstly milliehull a very worrying time for your family - I hope the test results arrive soon without bad news and your granddaughter is recovering at home.

DSB don't you just know that's the way things work? Infuriating but we are lucky to have our health care free at the point of delivery, even if we don't always get the timing we'd like. Having a daughter living in NZ where you have to pay to see the the GP plus medicines and hospital care including operations; children now receive free of charge until 13 years rather than the previous 6 years. No help with opticians glasses and dentist it does make me appreciate our NHS. But that said I too would be steaming in your position.

Took mum for her wart treatment yesterday. Dermatologist also froze some sun damage bits on her face and said maybe she'd need radiotherapy and skin grafts. I didn't go in with her - typical. But they discussed it, she has several places on her legs and arms too and has had them 'zapped' over last couple of years. Dermatologist couldn't say that radiology would cure and at almost 88 she' take her chances. She saw her late sister's suffering having removal and skin grafts at similar age and that was another reason for her decision, but she' to see him again in 3 months so plenty of time to research and discuss. She's very sprightly considering she' had 2 strokes but quite sensible too.

Spent today catching up with household chores.

Glad those away are having a good time. For those off on their travels now - enjoy 😃.

Going to concentrate on The Bridge now, my Danish needs brushing up as it' been awhile since we had a concentration of their programmes 😉

Bakers2, sounds like you had a lovely trip.  I hope you noticed that I organised good weather for you at FM laughing. Thanks for your kind wishes about our GD. She rang yesterday to say she felt well enough to come over to see us which was lovely.  She has managed half days teaching for most of this week which is good and is gradually recovering from the lumbar puncture which is also good.  Still no result. I expect it will be after the weekend now.

We went to our local theatre last night to see a production of Alan Ayckbourn's play 'Life and Beth' put on by a very good local amateur dramatic company. It was an excellent evening.  We are hoping to go to Easton Walled Gardens today if the weather behaves itself.

Sorry about the date for your hip operation DSB. I hope you soon get another date.

I think elective orthopedic surgery is slipping down the list of NHS priorities because it's an easy place to save money as it's not usually life threatening. Probably your GP is the person to talk to to see if he can push your case forward. The way the NHS is now organised it seems quite a complicated process to get appointments set up. If you know the name of the surgeon doing the operation you could try giving his secretary a ring. Whilst the NHS is a wonderful organisation we revolve around it rather than the other way round!

When I went for my specialist physio assessment a couple of weeks ago I go the distinct impression they were suggesting putting such operations off as long as possible if you can manage the pain.

Another pretty sunny day here, so many sunny days now that I have lost count!

Yesterday we were at DD's place for a BBQ as a thanks for helping them get the house ready to sell.  It finally went on the market on Thursday, she has her first viewer tomorrow, so we are going there first thing to assist with some last minute re-cleaning of essential areas, and removal of some large "baby related" items, which do tend to take over the place!

Unfortunately there are now 3 other similar houses to hers, in the same area, also on the market, so that might slow things down.  I cannot see a sale being finalised (as in money and keys exchanged) before she gets her new place, but at least she has the finance sorted so not a big problem.  The main thing is to get a sale agreed at the best possible price.

Today I wrestled the Fiamma awning stop out of the awning rail so we can position the new awning further along.  I think the warm weather has made the process easier.  Then I washed the Touareg.....it's a lot of car to wash.  I may do the Smart soon, but the caravan will have to wait meantime.

My arms may take a while to recover!

Then on to RSPB ant Bempton cliffs realy,no puffins but good day out and the weather has got better as day has gone on but still with chilly wind off the sea,

Only good thing about the heavy raiin in recent days is that car and caravan now look clean after all the dust and pollon that had accumulated while at Haweswink

As I sit outside and write this with a cuckoo calling close by and a thin veil of cloud covering the surrounding mountains I’m feeling at peace with the world particularly as I start on my third bottle of lowenbrau beer.

Really hot today so spent the morning doing chores and preparing for leaving in the morning.  This afternoon we walked around two lakes and completed about 6 miles. Plenty of people swimming in these mountain lakes, I managed to resist the temptation🌞🤣

I think you may very well be right David, but I think it varies considerably from one hospital to another.  It certainly isn't a level playing field.  Well I've sent them an email now giving them my next available date - we'll see what happens!  I was keen on putting it in writing so there is no confusion.  I shall follow this up with a hard copy by post on Monday.  I've had two shoulders and one knee replaced before, and on each occasion I have negotiated a sensible date.  For this op I've been referred to a different hospital.  I think my GP did it in error, but I thought I would 'run with it'.  I'm now beginning to wonder if I did the right thing.....

Its been another glorious day here today. We got up and left the site by 10 as we were going to visit Balmoral Castle somewhere we have always wanted to go to. The drive up to the castle was excellent with plenty of nice scenery. The castle itself is amazing the enterance fee gets you in to the gardens an exhibition area and the ballroom. We spent about three hours following the audio tour and taking our time to admire the surroundings. We got back to our van at 7 and got fish and chips from the local chippy. Now just sitting out in the awning enjoying the last of the day.

There is no chance of negotiating a date in our area DSB. We just have to take our chance. OH is going to have a carpul tunnel op before too long. His initial appt is at the beginning of July and we hope the op will be scheduled for the winter but in the meantime we daren't make too many firm plans.

Oh dear!  I had carpal tunnel done in the '80's.  It's probably much different and more advanced techniques now, but I remember it quite distinctly.  They did both hands at the same time.  The local anaesthetic injections were the worst thing about the op.  I also remember having to sit with both my hands rsting on a high stand and someone feeding me lunch as I couldnt do it myself.  I was only in for the day - back home at tea time.  Those were the days! 😀

Because my problem was cancer related I got priority treatment.  On this occasion saw the consultant, had the operation 2 weeks later, after a couple of month went back to the consultant who decided they needed more scans and then to review.  10 days after review I was having the second operation.  Fortunately no need for further treatment just reviews every 3 months for 3 years.

We bid farewell to the mountains and lakes of Southern Bavaria as we start to head north.  We are off to visit Coburg as I haven’t been there for 50 years.

DSB. My OH had his other carpal tunnel done about 15 years ago with great success (not under the NHS as we had private health care through his work at that time).  This one has been managed with cortisone injections for about 5 years now but as he was needing them more and more often for the pain our GP has referred him.  We will wait to see what happens!!

OP.  When I had a skin cancer 5 years ago I could not believe how quickly everything happened.  The day after my GP appt the hospital rang me with an appointment for the following week and it all progressed very swiftly.  I had marvellous care.

I have to say, the carpal tunnel op I had all those years ago was really sucessful.  All the best for his second op.

Well we have been very lucky. A lightening trike put Stansted airport out of action and parts of Northamptonshire were flooded but we haven't had a drop of rain (so far!) and no thunder and lightening.  I hope Bakers2 is OK.  According to the news last night Essex had a number of lightening strikes.

Has anyone seen brue recently?  She hasn't been around for a while.  I hope she is OK.

We too have been very lucky weather-wise.  About 20 minutes from both Stanway and Stanstead. Was aware of the storm, I really loathe them 😲, when I had a trip to the bathroom about 1am, a few flashes which I thought was car headlights 😂, back into bed and aware of distant thunder and could see flashes though eyelids. However, I was either very tired or it wasn't very bad as I slept through until 7am, only recalling it when it came up on the news. As far as I could see no rain at all. Future DIL said just 2mm if that just south of Peterborough not enough to stop the irrigation equipment so must have been very localised. Birmingham are still clearing up - reports if up to 5 feet of water 😲😲😲😲.

Good to hear your granddaughter recovering, she's doing well to be back at work, hopefully result this week will put everyone's mind at rest.

No sight of brue, I too hope she's ok.

Glad to hear that you are OK Bakers2, It was very localised by the sound of it.  We had enough rain on Friday to give the garden a good soaking so as far as I am concerned it can stay away.laughing

DSB both carpal tunnels ops at the same time 😲. Gets it out the way in one hit but very difficult for day to day living. My mum has had both done separately and said dressing and personal care very hard and worse when dominant hand out of action.

Hope your OH gets his date very soon milliehull.

Thanks milliehull. No rain here at all, garden could use some! Glorious morning again here, just wondering what to do, I noticed the elderflower appearing when we were away so may go in search of some to make cordial. Well these days I cheat and freeze it ready for dilution and use 😉.

The weather up here as been wonderful for the past fortnight. The only blip was the very strong wind over a couple of days. It made "sheeting up" the silage pit very difficult even with six of us doing it.

It's calmed down now - just hot and sunny! Ideal for more muck spreading (and then, she whispers, we could probably do with a drop of rain to wash it in!).

I'm not much of a gardener, and this is the sort of show I like - no effort required, they come up every year round the yard.

This is the top of the lane -

Beautiful Goldie. They won't grow in my garden 😢. You'e always cooking and feeding can't do it all. I am not as keen on gardening, it's more perennials and maintaince these days as I want to do other things and I never was a cook. Meals and food are a necessity and a fussy OH, even after 40 years! doesn't inspire 😂😂 me to worry too much.

Whisper very very quietly we could use some rain too but not now I'm about to peg out bedding.

Don't envy your neighbours whilst you are spreading 😂 but if you live in the country 😉.

We have just had a lovely break on Derwentwater, fabulous weather! Even our sixteen year old terrier managed some gentle walks. Good night at the Theatre on the Lake for our final evening, nice meal in the restaurant with friends and then seeing a very funny adaption of a Jeeves and Wooster story. smile
