Burrs Electricity Supply - from memory.

TBH, I don't think the club are looking at metering, it's not part of their current ethos....but there's nothing wrong with giving them a nudge now and again....
They have certainly looked at in the past and one hopes someone keeps an eye on technology advances not only in metering but in other areas of possible interest. What was dismissed years ago might now prove to be of benefit?
Like I said up thread which Corners missed, new commercial sites, do seem to think metering is a good idea.

Hi everyone, we apologise for the problems people have been experiencing at Burrs Country Park. We are aware of the issue and our electrical contractors are working on this over the weekend.
That was posted in November 2017, no problems since? And not due to 'excessive' use

Thanks, brue, just read it. But again a "fairly full" site on a "cold" weekend on which the wardens said "everyone had their heating on".
Yes, I agree, unacceptable and very frustrating for those concerned, but by no means a run of the mill occasion and, IMHO anyway, hardly a reason for the club to engage in the expensive process of installing meters on every pitch on every site.
I don't claim to have a solution, but maybe a request at reception that, in such conditions, folk limit their heating to 1kW might help?

I remember on various club sites a poster by the club asking everyone to keep under a set limit on cold wet days, it was about 1.6 kw? Most people do I think.
regarding the Burrs thread the electrical contractors were called out suggesting a fault somewhere?

Too much load on one phase.
(If you dont know what that means, it was bad planning not a direct fault)

we've seen that sort of thing, DD....fairly simple devices..
the other thing we've come across is that, where choice of power delivery pricing is offered, the site works out your bill, inclusive supply v metered cost, and then charges you the lesser of the two prices
"There is also another approach which could work to limit power usage on CC Ltd sites and might appeal to both sides. Fit meters and provide 16 amp as they do now. Allow up to [say] 2 Kwh's per day within the pitch price and charge for any excess used. Light users have no need to worry and the greedy can have all they want and pay for. "Isn't this all getting a little complicated - and expensive - to sort out an occasional (admittedly unsatisfactory) situation.
OK - here's the simple way, and it's something you've both suggested in the past. Have a non-EHU option and see just how popular that is. It's simple and no set up cost involved and after all it's exactly what the C&CC do (although I've used quiet a few C&CC sites over the years and the number of occasions on which I've seen vans/MHs not connected to the bollard can be counted on the fingers of, probably, less than two hands!)

I don't but why was an electrical contractor called out on a weekend if it was not a fault? to rectify the bad planning?

There does not appear to be much excuse for CAMC not to utilise 'green technology' at the very least on toilet blocks when sites are refurbished. Even if it it only partially reduced consumption, it would help the Club's carbon footprint.

I would presume it was to gather data on what was happening. When I spoke to him he was carrying a laptop, not a screwdriver and pliers.

Ok thanks for the reply

2 Kwh should be enough to keep the batteries charge over Christmas. For everything else their is gas

Not worth bothering about. That's 30 pence worth!
Did you mean 20?

sorry, M......yawn...sorta lost it with this thread.......
while interested in that type of pitch, I think it's the club that needs to be a bit pro active and come up with a few (for CC) radical ideas....
if there were a non EHU option at £5 less per night in winter, I'd certainly give it a try....and for a couple of quid in summer.
i think it would need to be combined with a wholesale price makeover with differentials not only for EHU, but for HS/non and awning/non as well, as there is with SPs.
but there won't be a great take up of non EHU as the majority of caravanners aren't geared up (certainly psychologically) to not hook up..it's what you do when you park on site, isn't it?
a good idea of TDAs (I think) to introduce a few economy HS nr the entrance for the increasing number of quick turnaround users, leaving more full fat pitches for those that prefer them....

BB, my point was that the non EHU option, compared to the rather more complicated arrangements suggested could be set up quickly and at no cost - just tell the wardens when you arrive and get a price cut. To me it's a least bad and least complicated option and not something I'd be interested in.
BTW, I'm guessing your singling out of "caravanners" in your penultimate paragraph was just an unfortunate oversight?

Nothing to do with psychology - The majority of site users are not equipped for no EHU

Can't say that I have noticed many 'quick turnaround users'. I certainly don't see how providing such economy pitches on sites that don't have them produces more 'full fat pitches'. How does that work?

easy, if I were on one in a new area, you (or someone else) could have my 'full fat' pitch which I have not used....
and of course they're not 'physically' equipped, take that as read.....the 'psychological' comment was an 'e-quip'....get it?.....
M, of course it wasn't an oversight....you, Corners, JVB and Easy are all caravanners, aren't you?
