Dog owners again

Can I just say, as a responsible owner of 2 dog's. Sometimes what an onlooker see's can be misinterpreted. My point is, my younger dog will take any opportunity to wander off and explore, say hello to other people. As much as we constantly ensure we know where they are the youngest one has been known to have squeezed through that 6" gap at the bottom of the awning door zip. As soon as we aware of this, on the rare occasion it happens, we act immediately and apologize to anyone concerned.
Sorry but this is what dog's generally do. And nobody is perfect?
This does not make me an irresponsible dog owner, and for the OP to title the thread as he did was only done to antagonize people in my view.

"The original post and most of the others surely only applies to the issesponsible owners however many there might be.
However if you compare this to recent posts that push responsibility back onto the witness followed with derision, this is as unacceptable as the original issue.".
I agree with your last sentence, of course, BM.
But my point was that the vast majority of "responsible" dog owners (and I think everyone does agree that the vast majority are "responsible") are made to feel guilty by the tone of several posts in threads such a this.
This one is, I think a particularly blatant example of doing just that - look at this statement - "The number of dog owners exercising their dogs off leads and using the grass pitches as sh.....ing ground was disgusting. Not the odd one but generally used" and "...ban all dogs ..." followed by the statement some 200 posts later on that there were 2 "offenders" on a busy weekend.
Can you see why that antagonises us "responsible" dog owners and leaves us feeling unjustifiably guilty?

On site's that make charge for dogs, there is a noticeable reduction in dog owners, and so long as the club use the fact that they do not charge to increase membership,we see more members with dogs,I also feel most dumping goes on after "lights out" when the the wardens are enjoying a glass of wine.

have to agree with David here, if someone is happy to dish out a torrent of abuse over a 'quiet word', I'm sure it won't be 'let go' after someone telling tales to a warden....expect more probably....
folk have to make a judgement call which is what WTG rightly did...

I have still yet to witness a club run site littered with dog mess. I have seen it in the designated walking area's and I agree it should be picked up and put in the bins provided. But I have never seen any on a pitch or in public area's.

+1, as often said what happens actually on a club site and what is reported to happen on CT are just poles apart.

I have to agree this is rather antagonistic and appears to be something of an exageration.
The " ban all dogs " is not a common wish ( although several defenders try to infer that it is) and as has been stated, with so many members being owners, it is highly unlikely to become club policy, nor should it.
I am fairly certain that most owners do not condone any of the anti-social behaviours often stated on here, however that is not always clear.

This does not make me an irresponsible dog owner
Nor does it show you to be responsible Milo
I was on site a couple of years ago, might have been at Brid. The same young pup escaped from a pitch several times and twice jumped up on my previously white trousers. I was only carrying two pairs on the caravan! No, I was not incensed. Amused the first time. Less amused the second time despite my laughing and the pup was delightful. Doubt it was your young escapee though

As a responsible dog owner, I deplore those anti social owners who allow their dogs to be a nuisance to others on campsites..
However as a level headed, sensible person I am definitely NOT Antagonised when anybody complains about cases of antisocial behaviour by dog owners they have seen. They are quite within their rights to express their opinion.
I am, like most sensible people, disgusted that certain owners allow their pets to behave in that way. It ain't the dog's fault. Does it bother me - Yes it does.
Why a few dog owning people are "Antagonised" by reading the truth about anti social dog owners seems to me to be rather OTT . Could it be that they themselves have a guilty conscience about what they allow their dog to do.
Let us, the responsible dog owners, enjoy our hobby with our dogs and let the CMC via their wardens, deal with antisocial owners.

I've only ever owed 2 pairs of white trousers ..... they were both part of my 'Trop rig'. I've never since owned, or wanted to own, another pair of white trousers. 😉

Well actually WTG I have no idea what your post actually stated as I was not replying to it.
For the record I was actually replying to Milothedog's post which was:
I have still yet to witness a club run site littered with dog mess. I have seen it in the designated walking area's and I agree it should be picked up and put in the bins provided. But I have never seen any on a pitch or in public area's
to which I replied:

And I still hold to that view.

I did not give an opinion Milo. I merely indicated that letting your pup escape does not make you any more responsible than me when I let my Alsatian and Lab out of the back door at home before checking that the front gates were locked as normal. My eldest had left the gates wide open and the dogs had been gone 10 minutes before I realised. I was a responsible owner too
It was my fault as I was in charge of the dogs .............. it happens though

that's Ok and thanks for posting back, I am not for one moment implying that what you wrote about did not happen to you, far from it, I was merely agreeing with Milo's post.

A bit of selective quoting there, K! (How surprising! )
As BM clearly recognised, I was referring to the exaggeration in the OP, not to justified complaints about the small number of incidents actually witnessed on club sites. So no "guilty conscience" here, since our dogs are never off lead on site and are usually exhausted by the time we return to site after a full day's walking in the country. How about yours?

A responsible Dog owner would’ve checked gates before letting the Dogs out. A responsible Dog owner stays with their Dogs for safety & good husbandry practice. A responsible Dog owner knows where their Dogs are all the time, close quarter training. These things all ensure their Dogs bother no one. Our Dogs-our responsibility👍🏻

Good👍🏻, as I don’t give offence😊
