Oh dear....what a lot of grouchy people....

Winters nearly over and soon everyone will be queuing at the sites, waiting for them to open, to ensure a decent pitch, to spend time setting up sky dishes, clean their caravans and maybe cars, going over the speed limits, not sorting their recyclable rubbish out.... Remind me again, why I caravan? Oh yes...., to visit lovely places in the country with like minded people....For goodness sake what is up with everyone? Are you bored?

We are all guilty of something, none of us are perfect and yes the minority are a problem.. However, if we TRY and set a good example, maybe we can all get on with doing what we all enjoy.....

This dog thing seems cyclical now on the rants ...

One of the main reasons we joined and enjoy the club sites is for their dog-friendly approach. You're always going to get some bad apples who are irresponsible but it seems the modern way to penalise the majority for the actions of a minority.

If the minor remnants of cleaned up dog mess offends some folk then I wonder why they aren't quite so incensed by the folk that like to pebbledash the toilets and just leave it for the next visitor! I've had the misfortune to come across these brush averse people more often than the dog mess problem that seems to be absolutely rife from the threads!

Oh I can concur with this we are getting to be a lazy society if folk can't clean up after themselves they certainly wont clean up after their dog come across it all the time mess in toilets left for someone else to clean as I'm a cleaner and I have 3 jobs ,where I live someone has put signs on the edge of their garden asking folk to pick up their dog mess

so don't ban dogs just lazy people

Not around any pitch we have been using.

The point is that the fox/rabbit/whatever does not know any better, but the dog owner should.

I started the post. What is obvious is that Dog owners will not accept responsibility for what I agree is caused by a minority. They seek every excuse to divert criticism. In this instant we were on pitch 34 overlooking the Grass pitches. A member from just below stood in the open with a black &  white large umbrella. He let his labrador run freely for some 15 mins. all over the area. We saw it doing its business but was not picked up. The second was a van 2 pitches up with 2 small dogs. They were let out on long leads each morning along the grass just above the steps to the lower section and again on different times of day. I don't think they were taken anywhere else .Again they did their business and not picked up. There is no site with more dog walks and an adjacent park that LMP. If owners act like they did on that site what hope elsewhere.

I think the biggest problem with some dog owners is ,that is how they behave at home and don't see why they should be any different.

I'm not defending bad dog owners ,but maybe on large sites there could be 2 dog walks at each end , I always walk my dog off site ,but I have to walk through the site to get there ,and that is when an accident may happen ,but it's all ways on the road as she is always on a short lead

And when you mentioned it to the "dog owner" they were sorry or did you report it directly to the warden or as is likely in most "moans" did nothing undecided

Reporting incidents such as an owner allowing dog fouling to the Warden staff is not the way to go. At best, it results in the Warden being caught between to opinions. This is unfair on the warden. At worst it could lead to arguments and bad feelings all round, with no resolution to the problem.

The answer as we all know,  is for the warden staff to be vigilant as to what is happening on the site they are paid to manage and take direct action against the perpetrators.  At any time, at least one of the warden staff will be out of the office attending to the site, any rule flaunting will be obvious.

Now that  is a supprise reply  as one would expect from those who have little or no regard or a sense of respect for others ,and no real idea ,it is like some drivers and speed cameras that slow down when one is spotted, members on site will be rule abiders when staff are in view

some of the problem is that the Wardens don't know how many dogs they have on site at any one time

    Just what is the figure?

I really don't know, but from what I read on  here I can only estimate that 75% of Club members going to Club sites have dogs. Is that about the number?  Does anyone know?

Smart phone. Video, photos, caught red handed. Then it depends on how committed one is to take it further, confront? take to Warden? or just come home and whinge to all and sundry on a forum?

Again, and again, and again, and....

'The answer as we all know' - do we??

'At any time, at least one of the warden staff will be out of the office attending to the site' - Strangely the only times that I have witnessed dogs being let out unsupervised to relieve themselves is before the warden starts his duties and before most are abroad. Probably between 6am and 6.30 in the morning. The only time I recall seeing dogs being 'excersised' on site till they perform their duties is after dark. I have probably been aware as we do not employ blinds until around 10pm generally and do not watch TV. Warden not normally walking around site and most behind closed blinds.
