Enjoy your trip to the lakes Tammygirl.

I think we have been in the Booths at Windermere. Very nice quality shop, some refer to them as the Waitrose of the North!!! In fact I am pretty sure they actually have some product tie up with Waitrose, or at least there was some years ago.

Glad you had such a lovely day Helen.
Have a good trip Tammygirl. Hope your son and his family have recovered from the flu.
I went to an afternoon tea and prosecco celebration for our daughter's best friend's 50th today. I had a really great afternoon. Lots of our daughter's school friends were there so it was lovely to catch up with them and hear what they are doing now. I was always very fond of them all.

I shop almost exclusively at Booths - in Kendal when I wasn’t working, then Windermere when I worked at Lakeland for 20 years, and now at Kirkby Lonsdale (I’m not keen on the new improved/new location at Kendal).
As local as possible produce, friendly knowledgeable staff.

Sounds like a lovely afternoon Millie, I wish I'd kept in touch with more of my school friends.

Me too Helen. I think they find it a lot easier today with social media sites such as Facebook.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to our trip away. Had to look up Booths as never heard of them before
H&T another one here who hasn't kept in touch with school chums and army chums to some degree. I agree with Millie social media makes it so much easier. Our son has just had us added to the facebook group for our eldest granddaughters school, its great so much info on there of what the children have been doing and taking part in. Wish it had been available when our boys went there.
Glad you had a nice afternoon millieH and a good weekend for H&T

I finished work at 21:20 yesterday, so got off 10 minutes earlier than my scheduled time. Then I drove to Shoreham Tesco drop off point to collect my wife with all her shopping. She had three bags full of groceries and she had also bought some nice new clothes for herself, a pair of jeans and a skirt, from M&S.
There wasn't much traffic at that time of night, so it didn't take too long to get back to our caravan for drinks and dinner and then sleep by 23:30.
The weather was awful yesterday evening but it did get better towards the end of my shift. The worst of it was the fog. I hate driving in fog. I like to be able to see where I'm going! So by the time I was half way through my shift, I was feeling tired and wishing I could go home!

Tammygirl, our son has added us to the Facebook group for our grandchildren's school in N.Ireland. It is a lovely way to keep up with all that they are doing and when we speak on the phone we have lots to talk about as I know what they have been doing during the week. Social media is a great way to keep in touch if used wisely.

It's a bit grey and overcast here in Brighton this morning. I'll probably spend most of the day chilling out. I might need to use the awning heater whilst sitting out in the relaxer. With the awning facing north, we can't get any sun in there anyway! Thankfully, it's a day off work today so plenty of time to enjoy, eating, drinking and sleeping. No driving to do. Heaven!
They hadn't done next weeks rota yesterday so I'll have to phone work today to get my next weeks shift pattern.

Back home now after a couple of nights in Clumber. We picked the van up on Thursday from service, and as normal booked into Clumber for a couple of nights. It enables us to put the stuff back in the van more easily than in the storage compound. Trouble was taking it back yesterday it got filthy due to the weather conditions, it had been lovely and clean after its sevice wash.☹️At least the roof is clean, which was the main reason for paying for it, sides are easy enough.
The new gold WiFi in Clumber is fairly good. At least one can now keep in touch if required. All they need now is a mobile signal. The site on Friday night was just about full, which is to say about half its summer capacity. The broadband continued to operate OK with no drop outs. How it will cope in the summer with a truely full site and more kids on the internet, remains to be seen,

We like lamb too but prefer it near Christmas when it's half price! I think you live fairly close to where I work, Mr. Route, so you must have passed by Lancing Pizza Hut. It's next to the post office. Parking is not easy there though.

We go up to Cranstons every few months - to buy a large pack of bacon which I split and freeze. Their meat (all local) counter is spectacular and I’m easily tempted.
If it’s sunny we buy a sandwich and stop on the top of Shap on the way home.

C, what usually sorts the committed from the none committed is £money☹️. Saving the Planet soon flys out of the window when some can save a few pennies buying imported produce😢😢

We buy fresh meat and veg very locally, first Norfolk and Suffolk then East Anglia and try not to buy outside that area, of course there are some exceptions. In fact the carbon footprint is usually less if we buy from the Netherlands than the SW England, Wales and Scotland

Bright and sunny day here, just off for a walk in the park. Spotted our first crocus in bloom in the garden this morning, most encouraging.
SIL just called to say house next to them on fire, 3 x fire engine in attendance. No injuries although one dog has run away

Oh dear OP that doesn't sound good. Glad to hear that there are no injuries and I hope the dog will be OK.

Just had a stroll to SIL and still ablaze. 7 fire tenders, 3 ambulances and several police cars
Emergency services doing a great job, dog not yet found though

I know where you mean. It's off Elm Grove. I get quite a few deliveries to do in that area. It's not too far from the Farmers pub.

I'm not sure where they get their cheese from, I don't get too involved with the food preparation or cooking. I leave that to the chefs. I just do the deliveries but from what I've seen, it looks good to me!

Re lamb and local food etc.
It’s not just the food miles, but knowing that British farming standards are amongst the highest in the world. Nothing is hidden and traceability and transparency ensures you know how what you are eating was raised/produced.
Eat local as possible. Eat seasonal.
But I have to confess we buy foreign bananas!

I think it's New Zealand lamb that Tesco was selling at half price before Christmas. We enjoyed it anyway. Nothing like Roast Lamb with mint sauce, gravy, roast potatoes and all the other trimmings.

I buy my meat from the village butcher. He has a note in the window of from which local farms the meat has come. After the annual livestock show (which I usually attend) he buys a couple of the winning animals and displays their rosettes / certificates in the window alongside the meat which always brings a lump to my throat (the pathos, not the meat!)
I spent a few days in Cambridge with a Buddhist friend last week who doesn't eat meat or fish ('nothing with a face', basically). The Buddha and Dalai Lama weren't vegetarian! Anyway, she says she does it for her health but then she takes 4 or 5 pills every day to compensate for the elements which are missing or scarce in her diet. Cuh!
I've eaten meat and fish for 72 years and virtually never taken any sort of pill whatsoever and I'm in excellent health, innit! It's largely the lure of a bacon sarnie and a brew at a greasy spoon caff that gets me and my Wrinkly Rocker pals out on our motor bikes.
