The other complication was that, last night, part of the M23 was closed and the diversion was a lot of extra distance that I would not normally do. So the commute which usually takes 45 minutes to an hour, took nearly an hour and a half. I only just got back to the site in time just 10 minutes before the barriers locked for the night!

Our son and family are on the move and have asked us to store things for them. Our nice room we converted last year looks destined to become a temporary storage area. wink

Wonder what would happen if it was an EV you hear of some stuck on a MWay for hours,

Purely out of interest has anybody reported this thread being taken over by posts more suited to UK sites? laughing

    No, thought not. wink

Well, there certainly seems to have been a lot of fuss about what I have posted on here, EasyT, so you've made a good point there! Only I'm told to post some things on other threads, yet everyone else is allowed to post here on other subjects without censure!

Well that is very strange because ours does!

You need to read your handbook to find out how to use the trip meter function.

On ours if you push the LH button quickly it changes from temperature to miles, that is your trip meter.  To reset to zero hold the button down, the figures flash and after a couple of seconds it goes to zero.

Not me, I read everything cool If someone has taken the time to comment then it had enough importance to them in the hope that it would be read by all and sundry innocent

The problem Malcolm will have is that we are not that far from the end of the current tax year so there will be a lot of missing info for 2017/18.

I think estimating all the missing days with any degree of accuracy would be very difficult, and there is a chance HMRC could ask for records as he has not been  claiming anything up till now.

Personally, unless I did have some figures to go on, I would not risk it, but that will be Malcolm's decision.

However, Malcolm, it is a good plan to get into the habit of noting your delivery mileage from now on  so that you will have all the details you need to make a claim for 2018/19.

Our cars are not identical, you need to refer to your own handbook.

Our console has a little black button either side, the RH one is used to set the digital time, the LH one changes between temperature display and trip counter.

Like you say, it might be best to leave things as they are for this tax year. Next tax year, I'll not be buying petrol anyway!

It has nothing to do with whether you buy petrol or not, think of the wear and tear, depreciation, insurance and servicing you still have to  cover.

If you spent a little time finding  things out, you would have found that even with an EV you can still claim tax relief for your work mileage.

Lovely sunny bright day today what a difference from yesterday.

Nothing interesting done today just the usual housework,

OH took my car in for its MOT and yearly service, first thing this morning. Using his bus pass he caught the bus back home (7 miles) see Malcolm, he didn't wait in the garage all day neither did he bother with a courtesy car. The garage will call once its done and he will take the bus back into town to collect it (either that or they will deliver it)

Would really like to get into the garden to start a bit of tidying up but its far too wet to even contemplate it.frown Might try a bike ride instead, its bright just now but the forecast is for rain or snow later on.

I don't have a bus pass, Tammygirl. I've not bothered applying for one because there's hardly any occasion to use it!

You never know when it might come in handy, so you might as well get it.  I have mine in my wallet all the time, even though it is rarely used.

It depends what they require, Kj. If they need to see my council tax account statement, for instance, as proof of address, I don't have one because my cousin pays the council tax for the house address. The account is in his name so wouldn't qualify as mine. So it may be that I won't qualify for a free bus pass for this reason!

You will not know until you ask.  I do not remember being asked to provide a CT bill, there must be other proofs of address you can offer if one is needed.

They can always check you out on the Electoral Register.

Looks like a recent bank statement is OK as proof of address.

My OH, Fliss, has one. No utilities etc whatsoever in her name and nothing linking to address other than bank statements and similar.
