I also have bi-annual checks. I don't look forwards to them at all. Oh, and I hate the 'space invaders game'!

Last time at the hospital the doc showed me a print out of my test and it showed one miss on my 'good eye'. The doc said that the one miss was normal as everyone has a small blind spot.

Our Bus Passes must have saved us a fortune in recent years as we often use them when we are away in the motorhome. Margaret uses hers to nip into CMK. Just a shame they can't be used UK wide. I think that was the original plan but Banking crisis and change of Government put paid the that prospect. Perhaps there are more pressing things that need addressing?

We have a neighbour  who is entitled to one but refuses to have one, and she uses the buses quite frequently. I have tried to convince her but to no avail.

Quite a bit of snow here today, started late last night.  Looks like a lot more is on the way too, and unfortunately we are supposed to be going out as we have an engineer coming to fit a smart meter at the Guide Hall.  I wonder if he will turn up!?

We spent a few hours taking the caravan in for its annual service today. It was absolutely freezing at the storage pound and as the van has to be power movered from its space, we were a bit cold to say the least, despite multiple layers. We did avoid the showers so that was good, but then the sun came out. Sun on wet roads is horrible when driving directly into it. However, it is there now and we are warm at home, pick up in a week, all being well.

Spent a good while this morning checking bank accounts applying for new ones with better interest rates, as current ones now at end of 1 year deal. Getting better at this thanks to the nice man on the tv wink

Went on the bus this afternoon into town 7 miles away, bus pass used wink car collected from garage all done and dusted for another year, only done 2400 miles since last years MOT, motorhome done much more smile

Good to catch up with news.  Rather breezy again today 😲. Received a UK weather warning on my phone so maybe we got what you've got without your temperatures! It's 18 here but blowing well. I've just put my washing in, if I can keep it on the line it won' take long to dry. Tasman sea warmer than usual and low building over it being held at bay by large high in the Pacific Invercargill very bottom of South Island has been having 30c normally 22c for days and large fires inland the airport at Dunedin was 35c.

We spent our afternoon in the museum yesterday learning about milk production and soil construction here in the Waikato region. Might have to go again as wasn't able today read and digest much inbetween interactive exhibits and dressing up items 😂😂😂.

Stay safe folks and keep warm.

It sounds as though you are having stranger than normal weather in NZ as well bakers2. It is great to hear yours news, thank you. It has been clear and cold here today with a really bitter wind. Thankfully no snow or thunder ...... yet. Forecast doesn't look good though. Roll on spring.

We had a lovely day out at WWT London. First of all, we went to the nearest Tesco Extra which was in Purley to fill up fuel for the Smart car before driving to WWT.

We saw the feeding of the otters with a commentary all about them. We also visited the Discovery Hide which was very different from the one at Arundel, much bigger. Then we went to the Wild part where there was a two storey Hide with panoramic views from the top storey.

There were lots of picnic areas and tables provided but it was too cold to sit outside, so we sat inside The Lodge for our picnic lunch and flask of tea. We also visited the gift shop and bought three postcards.

When I got back to write them, I discovered that I only had one second class stamp which I used to post one of the postcards to work. There's a post box on the site by reception. I did try asking the warden but it seems he doesn't keep postage stamps for sale. So that means a trip to the nearest post office in the morning.

I checked on the google map and it seems the nearest post office is on 10 High Street, Redhill which is 1.6 miles from here.

Bright and sunny but with a very cold wind, walk into town shortly,  bit if banking for work and then the hairdresser for a quick trim. May have time for a bit of retail therapy too.wink

Booked a couple of overnight stops there and back from West Wales last night as holiday all now confirmed. Route looks ok but hadn't realised it's 200 miles, doesn't look that far on the map! surprised

Nice to hear your news Bakers2,  hope the grandchildren aren't wearing you out too much.smile

just having a good laugh about the names given to Scottish snowploughs by children:

It turns out that the children of Scotland have given a string of hilarious nicknames to the country’s salt gritters. And better still, we can all watch them going about their gritting business in real-time using an online map

    Gritty gritty bang bang

    Luke Snowwalker

    Sir Salter Scott

    well done!

A brisk walk down and round the castle. Bracing, I think is the appropriate word.
