What are you all up to

I've just had a whole day when I haven't had to do any driving at all but it's back to work tomorrow to do a five hour shift 17:00 to 22:00. So it's going to be tight as to whether I can make it back to the site before 23:00 when the barriers lock. However, if we do have to park outside and walk back to our pitch, at least we won't have loads of bags of shopping to carry!

Some months there was no tax deducted, other months the tax is sometimes less than £50 for the four week period. So I didn't bother because I thought there might not be much to claim back anyway.
Trying to keep records might be time consuming and complicated. What happens, for instance, if I get two drops given to me in one go and the distance to the two adresses are less than a mile, yet I get paid £1.60 in drop money? This could be more than the HMRC rate!

It might be, EasyT, but it's less distance than Redhill, so might take less time to do the commute.

Just about to cook my breakfast and then put a new seal on the shower drain ! Then relocate the TV from the conservatory in to the kitchen ,at least with the Q box there are no satellite cables to contend with .
oh,and I need to charge my phone ,might take it to the phone shop and use their electric

Well put it this way, HD. You are running a retail business, a pet shop. For your business to remain viable you would have to make sure that the expenses of running your shop is within the income you receive and that might mean looking at overhead costs to see if they can be reduced in any way. Electricity would be one of your overhead costs, so if some could be saved that would not be a bad thing, surely?

Perhaps you have an accountant to do that for you!

Malcolm, Surely you have wage slips showing you how much you have earned and consequently are able to calculate how many deliveries you have made.
Knowing the deliveries/week you can make an educated guess how many per day you made over the various days. Then you again can make an educated calculation of the miles / day.
Put all this information in a diary starting from when you started your current job.
All the above is not fiddling the tax man but simply providing the information to them so they can pay you whatever tax rebate you are entitled to.

I have decided to post this here as I don't know how many of you folk go on the wildlife threads, this sign gives sound advice

But you’re a dog with common sense and you also know when you’re being led.

Met him, stroked him ET! The brown llama was all on his own except for a couple of Shetland ponies. His cream girls were in the next field, and he was trying to catch their attention, obviously more llamas were required if you get my drift! He was definitely male........
Had a good chin wag with the owner as well. They are pets, not farmed for anything. Very interesting CL. Has a Museum about the Combustion Engine close by. OH was enthralled, I wasn't.

Isn't that an Alpaca?
Will stand corrected if I'am wrong.

The amount of deliveries I do varies from day to day. On a quiet day, maybe 6 or 7, on a busy day 10 to 12. So usually between £4.60 to £7.00 drop money per shift. The payslip shows the wages, drop money and insurance deductions.

Late getting up this morning,
went out last night to celebrate finally deciding where we were going for our summer holiday! Off to West Wales haven't visited the area since I was a child, fond memories of camping near Aberaeron
Heard back from first CL they have space so booked and now awaiting confirmation.
Happy Days.
Other plans for today, well a nice walk with the dog round the local woods
Weather a bit grey but at least it's dry.

It is, and I am wrong. Always get the two mixed up! The brown one is an alpaca as well! Will remember the fluffy top knot now.

Thanks Brue, glad we finally sorted it, can start planning things to do.
We did look at Shawsmead but no dog walk and not too good direct from the site either.

Easily done, we stayed at a CL near Minchinhampton that had Alpacas in the field next to the site, they were highly amusing and very inquisitive

We were on site at Shawsmead probably 4 pr more years ago. Talked with a neighbour who had used the site because he had mixed his arrival date up for Shawsmead and found that he was booked in the following day.
He said that it was a really nice site.

We loved New Quay. Rather like St Ives in Cornwall, extremely busy when we were there. West Wales was an area totally new to us, we drove up coast, then headed to Strata Florida Abbey just before Aberystwyth. Stunning scenery, very wild, saw dozens of Red Kites. Definitely somewhere to go back to again.
