Happy Anniversary, Oneputt!

Yesterday was the longest day I've ever worked for Pizza Hut. I started at 12 noon and finished at 8.15 p.m. I've got another 4 hours to do this evening before our weekend away. I also notified the manager of my holiday dates.

Lovely day here in the Loir Valley, if a bit windy, supposed to be 20C later. Yes that is the correct spelling, it's a few miles north of the one with an "e". Good crossing on Wednesday night to St Malo. Splashed out a bit this time on a Comodore class cabin. Bit pricy but a great way to start a holiday. Large cabin with nice chairs as well as beds, tea / coffee making facilities. Non alcoholic mini bar, fruit bowl and a box of some very nice Macaroons. Checked in by steward, who booked our table for dinner, so we did not have to fight for one with the rest. Plus breakfast in your cabin before docking. I could get used to it😀
Off to do some food shopping now, then a bit of local sight seeing.

Did you have Council elections as well Bakers2? We only had the Mayoral election which is probably why the turnout was so small - only just under 25% I heard on our local news just now. We will be away on the 8th June so I have printed off the application forms for our postal votes. I thought I would let them get this election out of the way first and then I will post them off next week.

That sounds a good way to start the holiday SteveL.. Are you near the Le Loire (rather than La Loire)? We used to stay at La Fleche on Le Loire. Lovely little town and extremely good Municipal campsite. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

No elections around here - we don't have the added expense of a mayor (yet!) and there were no Councillors up for re-election.
We registered for postal votes a year or two ago and find it much easier......especially as we always seem to be away at voting time (which we will be again in June )

We'll be away too, touring Scotland and as I haven't applied for a postal vote, I guess I won't be voting this time. Anyhow, at least I've got my holiday dates sorted with my new employer, so I'll still have a job to come back to when I return. That's the important thing because it keeps the money rolling in and keeps the wolf from the door!

Incidentally, my employer also knows my holiday dates over Christmas and New Year which are booked for the Baltic Wharf Bristol club site.
I just hope we can get some nice weather for the National as well as our Scottish touring holiday or is that too much to ask for?

Slightly brighter cloudy breezy day here today. Still struggling with dizziness/vertigo type symptoms (thats almost 2 weeks) so mentioned it to Dr today whilst getting blood pressure and ecg results. Couldn't wear blood pressure monitor so nurse told me to monitor myself every two hours and let her have the results. Did this results handed in next day. Dr hadn't got them 😤 fortunately I took my rough copy of the readings with me, average was OK as was ecg and blood tests 😆. She thinks I probably have viral labyrinthitis as it's not as bad as it was. I have prescription for some pills that may help, I'll see how the next day or two goes before I decide whether to get it filled, I prefer not to take pills unless absolutely necessary. But also to get my eyes tested, so got appointment for that next week.
I do prefer not to get involved with the Dr's unless it can't be helped - as it's never straightforward one visit! But having an underactive thyroid I have to incur a blood test once a year generally. This year readings have changed and have new GP so much discussion 😲😂
Off to visit aunt while OH cuts her grass, that'll make me feel better 😉

I'm getting over a virus - cold, sore throat, the works. Since Sam has started nursery we all seem to be getting everything! However, feeling better today and took Sam to his first swimming lesson of the term which he loved - lots of splashing and laughing!
I also learned how to sign motorhome - Mr Tumble on Cbeebies went to visit a family with a motorhome.

Tonight we're off to the seaside!
Only down to Morecambe to a gig at The Platform. It's the old railway station . It's unallocated seating so we will be queuing outside waiting for the doors to open. It's always bitterly cold when we go there, with the wind blowing in off the sea.

Busy day, full stop. Just having a look in. Cold drying wind isn't helping our dry soil, no rain and a bit chilly. Hope Rowena feels better soon and Bakers2, had viral balance problem myself a few years ago, the medication will probably help a lot. OH has to take sea-sickness pills for a balance problem, "Sea-Legs" for the landlocked! But it works.

Rowena wish you better. You'll find your young lad will give you such lovely things for years to come! On the positive side eventually you'll have built up your immune system for almost every bacteria or virus 😆
I did get my prescription filled this afternoon after all but still debating whether to take them. Thanks for the heads up brue I'll give them a go.

Hope you feel better soon Rowena. Your immune system will learn to cope - eventually!! I had to smile about Mr Tumble and the motorhome. . Our grandchildren are too hold for Mr Tumble now and I do miss it. The swimming lesson sounds great fun as well.

Our 9 year old grandson has had the 'Big Talk' at school today and has just regaled everyone (over the tea table ) how babies are conceived and born. He declared the whole thing utterly gross and is trying desperately to forget it all. I think 9 years old is too young - am I old fashioned?
