There was a howling wind here too last night, David but perhaps not quite as bad as the west coast. I can still here the wind outside now but nevertheless, a lovely sunrise and clear blue sky. I got up just as the sun was rising above the horizon and made a pot of tea which is now freshly brewed for our first cup.

It was certainly windy in the west last night and my OH fell out of bed (he must have thought he was at sea?!) Anyway a slight bump to the head and a calmer night tonight I hope!
Have a safe journey home David.
Nice and sunny, going to venture out and get some sea air.
B2 I think you did well at Ikea, resisting further purchases. Luckily Ikea is quite an expedition for us via Bristol traffic jams so we don't go too often.
Premium Bond win for both of us and one for my Mum too so good start to the day.

I hope Mr Brue ok, hate to ask why he fell out of bed 😋. Not that restrained at Ikea just not in a spending mood 😉. Although Lakeside is only 20 or so miles away it's not my idea of fun, so won't be tempted in the near future. But purchases seems good quality for an extremely reasonable price. If it hadn't been for CT recommending Oftast crockery I wouldn't have bothered. But Ikea gets a thumbs up from me. So good to hear of your winnings. Never had anything from premium bonds but I'm delighted to hear prizes do exist 😃

As I typed about plate size and our lunch I did think I was being ironic 😂😂😂. We were impressed with the portion sizes in Ikea smaller size smaller price, deserts £1.75 ish as against £4.50 ish so they didn't need to make it large to justify the price. Rarely are we able to eat three courses the soup was tempting so one between us, did we care if we looked mean? Nah 😆. I couldn't finish the mash helping leaving about half and it was lovely to have a taste of a sweet desert to finish it off.
We're not walking as much now the dog's gone back to our son. I do miss it. You have to be disciplined to do proper walks without the dog, they'd be 5-6 miles, but I do walk to town and a mile or so and to our local shops but it's not as nice as a real walk concrete not trees and open spaces. I have to admit that the cold grey wet and wind don't tempt me walk without a reason. Must check out walking groups locally.

My OH has joined two local walking groups. They both meet at local pubs and offer a shorter walk and a longer one. The one on a Monday sets off about 600 yards from us. She normally goes on a 1.5 hour walk and probably around 4.5 miles or thereabouts. They return to the pub for coffee and biscuits. The biscuits are provide by themselves as members occasional top up the biscuit box with 2 finger kitkats and other delights. Coffee or tea is 60p and for around £1.75 they can help themselves to sandwiches and quiches etc provided by the landlord. The other walk is on a Friday after lunch and starts from a pub about 2 miles away. Similar arrangements. Apparently there is one lady with them in her mid seventies who goes to other local walking groups and was walking 5 days a week but has had to give up on one as it was a bit of a rush for her to get a meal sorted that day as her grandson usually visited for a meal and she had to fit in her line dancing
I walk little this time of the year. Probably just a couple of monthly 3 mile walks. When we are away for 4 months of the year we walk much more but my arthritis probably means 4 miles is enough whereas 7 years ago I would happily walk for several hours.

When OH came to live with me 12 years ago she did have a rude awakening. Her fault as she had a habit of sleeping on the edge of the bed. No idea why as she previously had double bed mainly to her self. One work day morning and her first as a full time partner the alarm went off and I must have overslept I automatically rolled over to what was her side of the bed to switch it off and in so doing knocked her out onto the floor. I didn't laugh ............... much

Back in the cold north east after having a week away in Toulouse with mostly blue skies and 18C each day. Flew out with Storm Doris and an extremely fun landing at Amsterdam, the pilot did a superb crosswind landing. I could actually look out of my window and see the runway coming towards as the plane was going sideways into the strong winds. Then a lot of rudder at the last moment and down. Took off in a howling gale but landed at Toulouse in glorious sunshine.
A lovely part of the world down there, we stayed with my daughter in a residential area and got used to popping out every morning for fresh baked bread for the local shop. Best of all though was the excellent food and so cheap eating out, 3 excellent courses for 15 euros, and wine at just over 2 euros a bottle and it wasn’t bad at all.

Another really windy morning, almost blown into the canal when walking the dog. Recycling bin day, bins blown over again, chasing rubbish down the street Mind you all washing dried outside, pegged out with plenty of pegs
Had a call from youngest son, all going well with new job and home, hoping to get up to see him at the end of the month.

A funny day here in the Pennines, it was raining when the forecast said it would be sunny and t'other way round.
My eldest daughter has shingles so it's off to Nottinghamshire at the weekend. That'll be the furthest I've driven for quite a while but I know I'll be up to it.

Yeah I've also read about the delays, but was hoping that it would all go to plan ( wishful thinking me thinks)
I'm going to "pop" in on Saturday under the pretends of buying some odds and sods,
Then jump down someone's throat! 😁

A busy day ahead today. I have an appointment at the surgery for a blood test at 10:20 this morning and then start work at 12 noon. However, I 've told the boss that we will need to finish by 6 p.m. because of the long commute back home and having to leave home at 08:45 this morning.
Yesterday it was lovely and sunny all day. We used the Smart car to go into London for my wife's appointment at Guys Hospital. I paid the congestion charge using the tfl website and this time it worked! Last time their website was down and I had to pay the £11.50 by phone. Much easier and more convenient online.
The journey took us an hour and a half. It was A23 nearly all the way from the junction at the end of Dean Lane where you turn right towards London. We parked at the London Bridge NCP car park which is almost next door to the hospital. We had lunch at the cafe on the ground floor inside the main entrance of the hospital, a bacon buttie and ham and cheese sandwich both toasted, washed down with a Cappucino. I bought a copy of the Times newspaper at the shop also on the ground floor so that I had something to read during my wifes appointment which finished at 16:30. Then back to the car park to pay the £28 parking charge and begin the journey back home in the lovely sunset. We got back to the caravan site at 18:15 just as it was getting dark.

We went to Aldi yesterday. It is their 'gardening week' so we bought a lemon tree. Mr H has wanted one for ages but they are so expensive in the garden centres. We re-potted it in a much larger pot when we got home and fed and watered it. I shall ring youngest son this evening as he got one from Lidl last year and his is doing really well so I want to find out how he is looking after it. Ours is in the conservatory so I hope it will be happy there. We also got a big bag of compost, a bag of vermiculite and a bucket of chicken pellets. We just need a weekend of good weather so we can do some gardening. I have a feeling it won't be this weekend looking at the forecast. (Helen, I also got a tub of Q10 moisturiser - it is on special offer so even cheaper!)

Win, win. triky.

I looked at the trees in Aldi but decided I'd got no where to put one, they looked really good though.
Hope you like the Q 10 cream, I used to use the Nivea ones but they were more expensive, and aldi's seem to be just as good.
It's pouring with rain now, but at least I walked the dog before it started. We need a dry weekend so we can get the wall finished, chap is coming in the morning. Meeting up with a friend later, catch up and think about restarting the gym sessions
