Brighter start to the day here too, but no snow 🙄 or breeze, if it rained and blew overnight we heard nothing!

David I hope you managed some sleep and Dawn brings calm if it hadn't arrived before.

    Enjoy your day folks.

Last day of winter today and 1st March tomorrow and so the first month of Spring. It's still rather cold outside though! Only 21 days until the Spring Equinox. A few days later the clocks will go forward one hour which will make all the difference to the evenings. I'll be able to finish work and get home in the daylight for a change!

Bright, sunny morning here but very cold.  There are a few clouds rolling in and I hope they roll straight out again.

We have lots of snowdrops out here but only one or two of the little daffs are flowering so far and the big ones are still in bud.  Like me they need some warmer weather.laughing

Sadly snowdrops do not like my garden and at present we have a few of the thousands of crocuses showing colour. I'm sure they will be spectacular very soon. I'm excited as we didn't see them last year as enjoying NZ time. I so love the spring and renewal of life but wouldn't object to the thermometer nudging up a bit. Sun is glorious at the mo hopefully it will last.

Malcolm you're right but 1 March is man-made date for spring I prefer to wait until the equinox before calling it spring. But yes the nights and mornings are pulling out, very welcome too, makes me have a spring in my step.

Waiting for a glazier to call the seal has gone on one of our conservatory doors, naturally the one I glance at the garden through from the kitchen! Finally sorted myself 😭 I'll  say no more 😉! Also have a couple going upstairs so I'll ask about those too. Things aren't made to last upstairs ones been in 27 years and conservatory one 17 😉😉. Hubby trembling in the corner 😦

Parcelling  up homemade book to post to NZ  before meeting ex colleague for lunch then another visit for different daily contact lenses to try. Luckily redness of  face has subsided today although still very scaly and pink. Changed my usual No7 P&P for one they suggested lift and luminate,  used once bad reaction. They have swopped products back to P&P and filled out forms. I'm using calendula cream at present but don't look quite such a fright as yesterday. Enough to frighten the horses and children. Feels like wind or sun Burn.

Probably not (and I do love Crêpe Suzette). Also ham and asparagus in rolled pancakes with a cheese sauce baked in the oven. I do all the cooking and OH still has a stone to shift. Christmas and several meals out with friends each month don't help and then there is those 4 months a year on holidays with scones and lattes!

She has lost 6 stone over the last 2 years and another stone to go I suspect.

We've got four blown windows in our conservatory, I think we'll replace the whole top structure this year as it's taken such a blast from the weather and glazing has imroved since we first had it done.

Hope your face is ok Bakers2, not nice for that to happen, makes you wonder what they put in to give you a "luminous" healthy glow! Probably lots of sillica for added sparkle?...frown

Much nicer day here in Cornwall.  The wind seems to have dropped and the sun is shining.  Haven't ventured out yet, but I wouldn't mind betting it's a bit chilly.

Thanks Bakers2.  Nice and calm this morning - so far.  Last night's wasn't too bad in the end.  It had calmed down a lot at 1am.  It didn't keep me awake.

After trying various face creams etc. over the years, some not so good, I now use E45 for all moisturising and find it very good.  No-one has complained about the way I look so far anyway.laughing Hope your skin settles down soon Bakers2.

Glad you had a better night than expected David.

Hope everyone gets their conservatory windows sorted out.  We have one gone in ours and like you Bakers2 it is the one I look out of from the kitchen window.  We rang a guy in the autumn and he came to have a look and said he would get back to us with an estimate.  We are still waiting so must get something sorted out soon.

I have found Aveeno good on the dry skin condition on my ankles. Suggested by practice nurse.

If I needed it on my face would that be because I was hard faced? <mischievous smiley>

Done with the aid of a number of 400 calorie evening meals that I have worked up and her self discipline at lunch when at home. Last night it was a 3 fish pie with asparagus as a side. Tonight a chicken and veg tray bake. Wednesday and Thursday will be 300 Cal and on Friday probably a beef joint.

I have spent a lot of time working out 400 Cal meals. 300 Cals not as easy and have an Excell spread sheet to calculate calories for various ingredients. I am proud of her too laughing

It is easy for me but she puts on weight sooo easily.

Thanks for your good wishes. I look like I've been in the sun too long 😉 Bit it's calming down now.

I can't imagine how I came to swop my face cream must have caught me at a weak moment oh yes and 95p cheaper a pot. I have always lived in fear of the words new and improved on laundry or skin products. I know the No7 girls well and they were really shocked and surprised. I allowed myself to flattered into my purchase. I agree stick with what suits you. I know Joanna Lumley claims to use Astral  cream I believe and she looks good.

Our chap has just been and we await an estimate, he's a local trader we've used before so hopefully we won't have to wait too long for price. I've asked him for all three windows but upstairs ones maybe tricky as they are over the conservatory which as a flat roof. He and hubby discussed how he'd done it before so fingers crossed.

Sun is beautiful here I'm off to do a quick bit of pruning of the lilac by the conservatory before I head out.

Yes, the coast is quite mild, they have palm trees in Largs.

Our son lives in East Ayrshire, not far from Fenwick, his house is quite high up, they can see over to Ailsa Craig.  Quite cold there as it is so high up.  Lots of wind, the big windfarm is not far away.

No, we are both perfectly able to manage the stairs so are staying put as we like the house.

We have however arranged things so that we could live on one level if it became necessary.

After being here for 30 years, the thought of moving does not appeal to us at all.

Yes, have also thought of replacing the whole lot with a proper room! We have a nice conservatory but it hasn't lasted as long as we hoped.

Hmm does seem to be the case, however our when our roof blinds are over they make our dining room darker - I shouldn't want not to have a clear roof, well ours is opaque wink.  We have Thomas Sanderson window and roof blinds, they are great, enabling us to use the conservatory all year round, as it faces south they are needed as much in the summer as the winter.  I love them because they don't block the light but do reflect the sun.  So it's never dull in there even if they are all down.  This time of the year the roof ones are only opened on days like today to let the warmth in. laughing
