New Dentist removed the first of two of mine yesterday ( Mon) and the worst thing was the cost
!! The restrictions on eating ( No Chewing on pork Crackling etc ) caught me out tho' and I really should know better at my age !!
Woke up at 3:00 this morning all of a tremble - HYPO !!
Ended up sitting up in bed, reading 3 or 4 chapters on my Kindle while chewing a Marmalade butty after a tube of Glucogel. Back to sleep eventually, up at 8:00 seemingly ok but quick blood test says 3:6 !! so still fairly low for breakfast time. Gawd alone knows what it was in the night ! Still the regime is back on track, SpecSavers on Friday, then dentist again on Monday ( 2nd extraction ) next Friday, for a filling. After that its just a simple Booking in at Doc's for Blood samples, Practice Nurse then The Master Himself !
Thereafter its just the usual Drains on the N H S aka Prescriptions, unless they find something else wrong !!
Really do hate all this faffing about & checking but the alternative is a Bleep Bleep sight worse I suppose !!

ET maybe you could post some of your 400 cal meals on the food and drink thread, I'm sure they would be welcomed. Its very difficult to count calories so any help is always well received.
I make many meals from scratch without a recipe using my spread sheet calculator. But I will start a thread for low cal meals Tammy. Maybe post one every couple of days if there is any interest. I suspect about 20 recipes.

Thanks ET, I'm always on the look out for tasty low cal meals, I don't buy any of 'ready meals' that are available, I prefer to make everything from scratch that way I know what goes into them. I try to eat lots of veg and fruit, lean meat etc. I tend to not eat bread more than once a week. However there are times when all my good intentions go out the window and like many others I like chocolate, crisps and ice cream. I'm not a big cake fan but OH loves them.

Yes Ian, 3 lovely weeks in Puerto Del Carmen, funny you say its getting expensive, can't say I have noticed that. We are still paying the same price for the flights as we were 6 years ago when we retired, but now we go for 3 weeks rather than 1 yet the flights are the same price. Accommodation for us isn't really expensive as we own 3 consecutive timeshare weeks in the resort, the only cost is the yearly maintenance, which is very reasonable compared with the 1 Scottish week we used to own. As an owner we can buy extra weeks in our resort for very little cost (£90) this year I believe, for a 1 bed apartment. We don't eat out every night or lunchtime like we did when we were working, its a bit like when we are away in the M/H only the weather is better
We've only been to Madeira for the day on a cruise stop off, when I looked at going for a holiday there, I thought Madeira looked expensive but then again we are not used to going to hotels, haven't done that in years so we are a bit out of touch these days.

It's our day off from work today so we plan to visit the National Trust property, Knole in Sevenoaks which is 15 miles from our site here in Redhill. It's a bit grey and overcast here in Redhill this morning but at least it's not raining. We've got tomorrow off as well but the day will be taken up by my wife's dental appointment at Guy's Hospital at 13:30.

Last night was a night out for all the family. It was the Dairy Shorthorn Society President's Dinner. It's held near the current President's home, so was just down the road from us (son James being the present incumbent).
So after milking it was glad rags on and away out.
The stock still has to be checked last thing at night though, so when we got back, it was off with the suit jacket and fancy waistcoat (a thing of beauty) and on with the boiler suit.

OH has been busy with the local fishing club recently. Visits out with the environment agency, checks on banks and conditions. Printing out club cards etc and getting licence stamps for various outlets.He's gone out this morning to distribute the day permits that visitors can purchase, it's going to be a long morning with all the chats at each place!

We've just got back from our day out in Sevenoaks visiting two National Trust properties namely, Knole and Ightham Mote. We had lunch at Knole. I had beef pie with vegetables and my wife had soup.
Now we're having tea and cake at the caravan.

, Collected some materials for the B/Yd on my trailer this morning ,then put to right's the ' fell over ' boat by craning it back onto it's sleepers base,no damage done by the incident last Thursday.Can't say how all the good's inside the cabin have fared though ,as it 'nose dived '!!but still stayed firm on the bilge keels .I imagine tools and crockery all up for'ard.0

Parts of the house at Knole was closed due to conservation work being carried out. The deer park was huge and there was a long drive through the parkland to get to the car park. The gatehouse was open and there were a couple of rooms to see on the way up the winding stairs to the top where there were views from all sides. The visitors centre had an interesting exhibition all about the house and grounds and the people there through history including Tudor costumes. We also visited the bookshop which was interesting to browse around. Next to the bookshop was the orangery which was also open to browse around with a statue and plaques to see. The garden was closed though. There was also an exhibition next to the gatehouse to do with all the office and paperwork involved in running the estate.
Ightham Mote also had an interesting exhibition in the visitor centre and you could walk around the grounds outside the house but the house itself was closed.
Both properties would have been better if more of the indoors were open. The problem with walking around the grounds is the weather. It was rather grey and cold with the occasional drizzle.

Hope you have a great holiday Tammygirl, my boss has just come back from Tenerife, said weather was really warm some days.
We had some nice warm sunshine today, it felt almost spring like.
Had to go into town before work, haircut and shopping, more shops have closed down, the town is slowly running out of shops.

Nice sunny day here but still very cold. Managed to get washing dry outside. Noticed quite a few of the daffodils and lots of crocuses now in flower in the garden. Hair cut this morning. Some of you might remember that our lovely hairdresser has been having treatment for breast cancer. She finished her chemo at the beginning of December. Her hair is growing back. She has even had it trimmed and she now has a lovely 'urchin' cut and looks beautiful. Daughter's best friend dropped by for a chat on her way home after school (she's a teacher). Lovely to have a catch up with her.

Well a first for us today a trip to IKEA 😃 At Lakeside our second trip there since it opened and I'll be happy not to visit again for another good few years. Not my idea of fun, but I digress!
Purpose of our visit was to purchase IKEA version of correlle as discussed on CT. Well if the urban myths of a one way system were true they're not now. Wow it was vast plenty of people around too. Checked out all departments but we're very disciplined 😃. Picked up 4 each of the Oftast bowls side and dinner plates 50p each 😂. Really pleased with the look of them and delighted that the plates are slightly smaller than many. (I'm sure we all gain weight because today's plates are huge). We picked up some everyday tumblers, wine glasses and a cream jug. Despite a good try I was unable to find crockery for indoors as I prefer porcelain and felt IKEA's were heavy and no smaller than we have already. I was tempted by nothing else. We spent the grand sum of £15.
Popped the shopping in the car and returned to use the cafe. Very pleasantly surprised had a bowl of morrocan chickpea soup really delicious, Swedish meat balls peas and mash, fish peas and chips. Quark cheesecake, Swedish apple pie and a drink plus mugs of tea for less than £20.
So we're really looking forward to a trip out in our motorhome to try out our new bedding, another CT discussion encouraged me to try Wilko, and the crockery.

Isn't it great to see the signs if spring we've had beautiful catkins and the pussy willow is coming out, all we need is some sun. Last month Essex was the driest county, we often are, at just 1 inch of rain. Didn't feel like it at times! I do hope it won't mean water restrictions later in the year, I fear our stores of water will be depleted and there is a huge population to draw from it.

If I understand it correctly Bakers2 Denver Sluice near Downham Market diverts water to Essex if you need it. Denver Sluice is the centre of the water universe in East Anglia

Bakers2, Ikea takes practice, the more you go the easier it gets.
We bought our new kitchen from them, which involved lots of trips.
I wish I had found their crockery before I bought our Correlle set. I bought some roasting pans last time, really pleased with them.

Bakers, the nerve!
You say that the weight gain is down to bigger plates then proceed to have all that food at Ikea. Did Mr.B have anything?
Went for a lovely walk alongside the River Dee estuary today (helps with losing weight). Twas quite a treat as we've not been out walking a great deal lately. The sun shone, Skylarks and Curlews kept us company and we put the world to rights. The birds tell me that Spring is springing.

Our Ikea is only a few miles away, other side of the Clyde, we go now and again, maybe 5 or 6 times per year, especially if they have a special offer we are interested in, or if there is a special event on, plus we visit ones abroad if we come across them. Interesting to see the different things they have.
One way system? Well sort of! Most people follow the arrows, but sometimes you do need to backtrack!
Food is good and reasonably priced, and varies a bit from country to country. Have you got a Family Card B2? You get free tea/coffee weekdays if so, plus other offers.
We have quite a few things and furniture from Ikea, and DD has a lot of their furniture. As a student it was great value for her flat, and she now has it all in her newish house.
We seem to keep swapping furniture with her as our/her needs change, so we too now have quite a bit of Ikea stuff!
If going for a new kitchen, Ikea would certainly be on our shortlist.

Lovely sunny day here today, even better than yesterday, but still pretty cold.
Going to DD's tomorrow to finish off a few jobs. In the middle of making butternut and sweet potato soup to take with us for lunch as she works from home on Thursdays.

Sitting in the caravan again, listening to the howling wind outside and feeling the rocking motion of the van from time to time. It's a bit like Monday night here in Cornwall - Carol thinks it's worse tonight. Looks like it's going to be one of those nights again! Travelling home tomorrow so hope it all dies down soon.
