Time to roll back to previous forum?

Predictive text or typo, who can tell? Perhaps my laptop is picking up on sentiment for I have referred to this site as a 'pail of excrement' recently.

Wow, 150 posts from in excess of 300,000 members. 150, I wonder how may fractions of 1% that is?, democracy eh?

Actually CY.....
There may well be 150 posts on this discussion, but many of them are the same people repeating the same points.
When you strip out this duplication, I count 25 members who support the proposal in the OP to roll back to the previous forum.
Quite interesting when you also consider that many of those 25 members also used to complain about that previous forum!!
I find the idea ridiculous that the club should abandon its new website because out of 350,000 families, representing 1 million members, 25 members are making repetitive grumbles on our forum.
Nope. Can't see the club doing that somehow!

Hi David
I didn't "rubbish" anyone or anything.
I simply stated the facts - and presented a view, my view, that the level of grumbles does not present a sufficent level of complaint to warrant the Club going back to its previous website.
I think that is an eminently sensible position.
In the meantime we know that the Club are continuing to develop the new website and implement fixes in response to the concerns that CT Forum members have raised.

I think the new forum is getting better and that the Club are doing their utmost to improve it.
Being able to add photo's is certainly an improvement.
To be honest I have never been on a Forum where members continually find fault with it. .Why cannot the few on here accept it is new and different, stop complaining and give the Club time to sort it. It is unfortunate that we have had a long holiday to hold up the sorting out of the faults.

If the fault finders could stop generalising and list any genuine snags they have found and desist from repeating ones already noted it might have been helpful. We've been told that any problems we've encountered and noted on here have been noticed. The site went live on Dec 13th, we've had several days holiday. The whole web site has improved since the introduction, it's obvious that data is still being loaded and updated. I can't believe it would be possible to load such a big website in one go and since we've been pestering for it to start we now have it, even if it's not fully functional. Lets give it time to get sorted.
And no I don't want to see the previous forum again, too many hiccups as it grew, a bonkers star wars and reams of web space taken up with people trying to find ways of adding photos. This is much better!

So basically folks, according to the moderators, your views are of no interest to the CC and you are wasting your time expressing them.
Well thanks a lot.
Actually, this view does seem to be borne out by the fact that there was only one thread that was being responded to by the CC......and it has to be said that the answers didn't inspire confidence.......and then that one thread was closed.
I know the moderators have to 'toe the line' but really, even you must see that a pretty dire forum (in terms of operation) being replaced by an even worse one, is a pretty remarkable achievement, even for tthe CC IT staff.

Nice spin, but if you read my posts that's not what I said. Please stop mis-quoting me.
And Mods are not required to "toe the line" whatever that means? - however as members of the CC we too are allowed to express our views.
My views are clearly expressed above - and not as spun by you.
As confirmed by the Community Manager - issues pointed out by members have been noted.
My point as above was that to suggest rolling back to the previous forum on the basis of comments by 26 members is not really a tenable position.
I'm sure the Club will instead continue to develop the new website for the majority of members, taking into account the comments that have been made.

But why would you want to?

Great new forum, took a while to learn the new navigation and love the soft colours, think matt instead of gloss. There are a few problem areas that I'm sure will be sorted over time, but I do wonder why the same people who criticised the old one vehemently would want it back, when this one is such fun
Perhaps it's the loss of the star system and their 'status' is now not on show to all and sundry.
I just 'liked' my post, because I can.

tw, its called 'testing' which is what the CT members are carrying out on behalf of CC on the live version.....
if it had been tested properly, prior to release, AD could not have raised it as an issue.
Bugs, im aftraid that your estimate of the numbers of folk reporting issues may be small in total, but its far larger than the total testing team it would seem....and how is a member supposed to know if an issue has already been reported? where is the definitive list of captured issues (on an updated sticky at the top of a thread perhaps?) so that members can check for themselves, so as to avoid duplication?
Dianne, you actually think the forum has improved since implementation? in which areas? certainly, little in the navigation areas has changed.

My posts have said the same thing consistently - my view.
And my view hasn't changed.
- moving back to the old forum because of comments by 26 members cannot reasonably be justified
- as confirmed by the Community Manager, comments made by members are being taken into account as the new website is improved (I never said members views were being ignored, as implied by you)
If you think I have "spun" anything, feel free to point it out.
Cheers

Sorry but I too seem to be missing the spell checker, on my tablet anyway. It has taken me ages tk write this having to keep reading rereading and rereading everything and repeated rereadings. my problem is that when I'm reading it the eyes reads wht it is supposed to say rather than what it actually is, so typos are often missed, wh. hich is quite embarrassing for me. Havingg typos highlighted in some way is a great help in recognising them, even if it argued that an 's' should be a 'z' lol
Not sure if its a new addition but I do like how the original first post is now on every page if replies so one can check what the original post was without having to go back to the very beginning before replying.
However, on the negative side I do miss the box at the side which gave a list of all of our recent posts, which I found navigating to see if there have been any replies to our posts a great help, especially if Ken posts a question and forgets to let me know so I can check for replies.
With a site with as many subscribers as this is would be impossible to please everyone , and thejse of professional checkers would in ur extra costs, thus possibly giving the knocked on effect of causing membership fees to be increased possibiliy. Volunteer beta tezters would be a possible solution, especially if they also included the utilising of numerous browsers/devices/platcormzSorry for any typos I've checked through it several times but am bound to have missed some.
