"We don't really matter" - Erm, no that's not what I said, EJB.

My point was - why should we expect the Club to jump through hoops just because a handfull of people on this forum are unhappy with aspects of the forum and say so - over and over again ad nauseum?

No-one is saying the forum is perfect. In fact there is no such thing as a perfect forum, because people have different personal preferences.

But we do know that The Community Manager has listened to what people on here have said, has logged the issues and has stated that they will be dealt with. And yes, some of the fixes may take some time.

Against this background, for people to then keep repeating the same moans over and over again without actually saying anything new or adding anything useful is OTT in my view.

    Cheers

    Bugs

I think the biggest issue with the new forum ,is that members feel that they haven't been listened to , I put one suggestion for a thread heading toward ,but I see that it hasent  been added ,ok ,I'm not going throw my teddy out the pram , its a forum ,ok it looks like they have gone the wrong way with it , getting out in my .M/H is far more important than a forum

as bugs says ,no forum is perfect and you would have thought that a big organisation like the CC could get it right , they should have looked at other forums ,.Motorhomefun in my option is one of the best ,with caravanchat up there ,as they are easy to follow ,post and add photos , but if we are stuck with this forum ,then so be it

life's to short to moan about trivial things

I think there would be a lot less moaning if there was more in the way of positive feedback from the Club. In the meantime because there is little positive one can say about the new discussion site and the difficulty of using it, I will continue to take a back seat.

I really don't get this thing about "no one should complain about the new forum". Why not?

We were promised a new forum that would address the issues that many CC members have raised over many years.

The new forum finally arrived, many months / years later than promised.

It turned out that it didn't address many / any of the issues raised and in many ways is worse than the previous one.

CC staff responded in a cursory way to comments, then closed down the thread and cleared off on an extended holiday.

No improvments / changes have been made.

And you don't think that deserves a comment??

A happy new Year to you BB

    The question is this:

What is the club primary aim? Is is to have a very good network of sites that people want to use? (I know if people think may not think sites areis good but that's a separate question and anyway a lot of people want to use clubs sites) and a very good booking system?

Or is it to have a fantastic CT site?

CT won't drive people away from using clubs sites will it?

Happy new year Corners ( where have you been?)

you are right that the club should provide a good network of sites and that is where the majority of the money should be spent , but if we are going to have a forum then it should be of a reasonable quality ,and this one is not , but it doesn't stop me from using it or the site network

Happy New Year Husky! I've been out of the country on OHMS (well part of it)

OK, then what is missing from this forum that would take it into reasonable quality? I am not saying this new one is any great improvement on the last one (apart from the spellchecker and photo uploading) but it does what I need it to do, life goes on? Is it really that bad that it warrants so many complaints?

For me Corners ,it's only small things that need tweaking like

1 . Logging on takes to many clicks to get back to where you were

2.posts that I have looked and read still say "new" when I have gone back to them a while later

3.who the last poster was ,not just the last time a new post was done

and some of the navigation round the site booking is not obvious

but I'm happy to see what the IT team are going to sort in the new year

    Things can only get bettersmile

There issue of 'new' posts has been raised. I pointed out that this aspect was providing inaccurate information a day or two ago. Subsequently any form of indication disappeared altogether. It then reappeared providing a different take o what constituted 'unread' posts. I see this morning that any form of indication of 'unread/new' has again disappeared completely.

This tells me that they are trying different formulations and self-evidently  DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Poor coding is not being corrected but merely different thing are being tried out to see what might work.

Moving further through the forum, I discover that the latest effort appears to be that all posts since login get flagged as 'new'.

CC, listen very carefully I shall say zis only vonce.

Posts flagged as new should refer to any post added since the thread was last visited. A "goto last unread post" button would be most welcome but that is probably asking too much of your limited capabilities.

I used to use Club Together every day but since the changes I hardly bother now. It was good before because you could see all the posts as they happened and then you could go into any particular section you wanted to follow. I think the best solution is to go back to the original format as it was! Please! 😿

Well Bugs, I don't expect the club to jump through hoops!

I expect a multi million pound organisation to be able to produce a bog standard forum that is usable and comparable to all the others on the net.

However I think I need to button my lip for the foreseeable future as without a PM system it is not possible to comment reasonable to any particular poster.

Anyway I need to get back to the Chatsworth thread and join the other multitude of moaners! (other moaning threads are available!)surprisedsealed

Happy New Year to you and all members and especially those who really are trying to sort the forum out!smile

    Playing Devil's Advocate

Only 3 clicks to discussions. Desktop PC.

Shows my details - click OK

Hover over Club Together - click Discussions on row below

Same on Ipad (replace "hover" with light press'

I was once taught that you should get where you're going in three clicks,

Light press, Goldie? Why does my Pad need a heavy tap, or two, to get anywhere on this forum but not other sites while yours only needs a light press?🤔

It is easier on a desktop PC, definitely, apart from the dreaded banner blocking the screen.

Don't tend to use this forum that often as I find it one of the most complicated ones to follow with similar threads appearing in multiple sections.

However, having scanned through a few areas over the last few days and seen the number of complaints about the new IT improvements, complicated site fees, problems with wifi, problems with queuing at some sites etc, etc the one thing that has stood out to me is the lack of proper response from the club.

I was always under the impression that this is a CLUB and all members are part of it and as such are entitled to have their concerns taken seriously and responses should be forth coming.

There are so many threads it would be impossible to read them all so I may well have missed an area where responses occur and if so I apologise in advance.

I have only been affected by queueing on a handful of sites visited over the last 5 years. That is visiting over 200 sites (some visits were a revisit) an generally arriving within 15 mins of permitted arrival. I suspect that the queueing are on the same popular sites therefore and hardly widespread. That excludes the occasions when there is a van or two pulled up in front of me at the office.

I have been well pleased with wifi when available on a site and the club has indeed addressed peoples concerns. I amazes me that I am generally able to access the web before opening reflective blinds to check the weather and news whilst waiting for the kettle to boil.

As far as the IT side goes it strikes me that the server used for the forum barely copes. Hopefully when staff return after Christmas the Forum can be improved.

A lot of the "complaints/moans" seem  be from a very small vocal few who would find something to complain about no matter what was offeredundecided

    Thanks for the reply BB

You make some good points which can't be argued against. It's just that to me it is not that bad and not good either I agree. But as long as the club listens to its customers for those area that really affect me and you (sorry not speaking for you there) for example the sites, booking, insurance and get that right? and coupled with (IMHO) those who use CT are a small proportion of total users, does it matter so much about CT?

I don't think it the numbers posting on here are that insignificant (the Club will know) Yes there is a hard core but there are many many members who only post now and again. Lets face it, if you had bought this forum software in a shop you would take it back. Yes it is just useable but it takes far too much keyboard/finger and mouse effort to use it. Improve it as suggest many times and you could see many more posting regularly.

There have been 150 posts on this thread, the majority of which support the initial post, suggesting that a roll-back should be considered pending sorting out the shambles that currently reigns. That, of itself, should be a clear enough indication to the management that things are fart from well in the IT department.
