The clutch has gone on the Shogun, so I've had to rent a company car from dinner2go to do the deliveries. It's a Smart car and proving much more economical. It runs on unleaded petrol. We've got it booked in with the Mitsubishi dealer this time. The dinner2go boss had a look at at it and thinks its the bearings. So we have to take it in to Mitsubishi service dept on 18 th January. It will take two days.

Malcolm,  Suggest you invest in an automatic,  would save you a lot of money on clutches.

I'm just having a coffee too, taking a break from the kitchen. OH has sorted out daughter's ancient Skoda (he says she should write to Skoda, congratulating them on their long lived high mileage vehicle!) We've all agreed it's time for a replacement, OH can't stand many more Dad calls from muddy country lanes...wink

Very dull and damp but not overly cold her in Notts. Also had a bad cough and have been waiting for it to pass so I can ice the cake. Looks as though I should just about manage it before Christmas. Or I could use one of these 😷I suppose.

That Smart will struggle to tow your van!

18th January seems a very long time to have to wait for a clutch repair, I take it you will not need to move site before then.

Hello folks.  This will be swift, it is the Sunday before Christmas and many actions need to be accomplished.  Had to turn on laptop, with non replaceable battery so tied to the cord, not always suitable for a quick dip in and out .

Some of you may know new website and Kindle do not get along together and despite trying to post, it eats my words as I type on the Kindle - however slowly I type and wait.  Seems to allow some words after emojis, hence some really strange posts from me on this and the new website thread.  I have been reading and it's nice to see what everyone is up to.  I won't write anything on here regarding the 'improved' website .

Yesterday we went on a coach trip to Carols Sing Along at the Royal Albert Hall.  Long story short, gift from a friend who gave as present- rejected , unable to use herself so offered to us, wouldn't accept money so flowers after the decs are down I think.  Great day out, collected 9.30am, only  a short walk to pickup point.  An hourish to wander before show started,so checked out Albert Memorial and a very foggy Hyde Park.  Brilliant show, RHA dec'd nicely, folks in Christmas jumpers, headgear, flashing jumpers and skirts - yes , one who was dressed as an angel , lots of elf's too.  People in the boxes took strings of lights and decorated them.  Others took bells, or possibly did all of the above, to join in.  Made for a terrific atmosphere .  Feel that Christmas might be on its way.  Then a coach crawl to Covent Garden, but saw some of the lights etc on the way.  A couple of hours there where we found a lovely organic restaurant with brilliant food and service, so soon feed and watered, before joining the throngs.  Lovely buskers, decorations and atmosphere.  Home about 7.15pm.  Able to catch up with Strictly Final by fast forwarding the chat and was able to watch result in real time.  Then BBC4 for the last two episodes of the latest Scandinavian offering Modus.  Great day all around.

Foggy here again today, probably visit mum later or finish the cake, we don't have marzipan and icing but fruit topped.  If not mother than an aunt who we've not seen for ages.  No reply from mother at the mo, assume not home from church, she only likes one visitor at a time so we'll see what happens.

Glad everyone else seems to being enjoying themselves, I've been reading and hope I miss no-one when I say hope you feel better HeleandTrevor, glad you had a good time away, good luck to your hubby Brue on repair front, you seem to be mastering the new site well or just have the right equipment .  I see ABM mixed us up again,I hope you are not insulted?  I hoping you're fit healthy wealthy good looking etc, all the things I'm not LOL. Touch wood .l',m healthy.  Tricky you seem to be doing well, enjoy time away.  Malcolm, what another HUGE expense might it be time to rethink your situation for the new year?  Insurance, repairs, tax, fuel etc against income and decide whether it is worth it?  Milliehull so glad you enjoyed school play.  Have to ask cornersteady why he's not at school teaching and is sunning himself???

Sorry if I've missed something important, but tasks are calling.  In case I don't get back on here to actually type, even cutting and pasting from others posts to form my own doesn't work easily on the Kindle   I'll take the opportunity of wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Sorry said I wasn't going to moan about the site on this post, but it takes an age for the words to appear as I type and I thought I'd lost a lot of my speed at typing..........

Well done B2, good to hear all is well.

Horrible grey day here, being lazy and not doing much, but should really stir myself and finish putting up the rest of our new blinds.

I think we have all the presents bought (OH's department) so now I have to get started on the wrapping.  OH and DD have made lists for food shopping later in the week, I will just be chauffeur and bag carrier.

We have an elderly friend to visit this week, will take her some nice flowers, but otherwise nothing much planned.

ACSI books have arrived, so time to make plans for next year.

Oh, yes, nearly forgot.....time (for OH) to sort house insurance for 2017.....this year seems to have gone very quickly.   Renewal has arrived and seems to be a bit of an increase.....as usual.

I think my cough is starting to ease a bit today. Yesterday it was so painful to cough and there was some right muck coming up. I find myself nodding off but that could be the painkillers I'm taking for the knee. Most of the days are the same at the moment physio exercises every four hours, painkillers every six ,10 or 11 hours in bed. Roll on Spring😴

We've been shopping for the non perishable Christmas stuff, plus a weeks worth of "normal" food etc.

Yesterday I did some essential stock taking on the drinks shelf, and discovered I only had 14 different Gins. Now augmented to 18.

A useful mantra - you can never have too many shoes/scarves/handbags/types of Gin.

On the far right of the shelf are a few bottles of Whisky (in case you thought I neglected my husband!).

Mine too.  My cough (and cold) started on the 1st December, and between then and now has been awful, really awful, terrible, diabolical, incapacitaing, and is now back to really awful again!  But that's an improvement and at least my chest only aches a bit now. Fortunately I don't have any knee issues either!

Today we've been collecting greenery for Christmas decorating, visiting a Christmas Fayre, when we won £1 on 'Ferret Roulette' (put a ferret in a dustbin, and if it comes out through the tube you pick, you get your money back and a pound!) then we had a walk around Skipton, bought a few more presents, and back home to finish decorating the house.

Now we're chilling (or warming up, it's freezing again here) in front of the wood-burner, before a meal of chilli and lime prawns (starter), steak with peppercorn sauce, saute potatoes, green beans and broccoli (main) and raspberry and chocolate torte with fresh raspberries and blueberries (pudding).  Then it might have to be a wine, or a gin (or two or three) - purely medicinal of course!

well, ended up going over to Montacute House for the evening 'light up' of the house, really quite spectacular with all the multi coloured changing floodlights hightlighting the massive exterior of this magnificent Eleizabethan property.

quick glass of red in the Kings Arms then home for a little roast beef....

Luckily, we don't need to move site until 17th March. We'll use the Smart for deliveries until the company takes it back on Tuesday for an MOT. We are looking into buying a new one from the Smart dealer in Brighton.
