What are you all up to today? - part 3

Had 4 of the grandchildren for the day today. Two 6 year olds and two 9 year olds. They were very good (most of the time!) and had a lovely day. The cousins like to spend sometime together as they don't get the chance to see much of each other during
term time. I have just delivered them back to their respective homes - phew.We have two of our grandchildren aged 6 and 2 (plus mum + Dad) whilst the sale of their new house goes through, wish we only had one day left with them (lol) its hard work at the moment.
All part of life's rich tapestry. One day..................... You'll look back on it and laugh or cry
True but at the moment its crying

It will pass, we had similar a few years ago thought we'd fall apart forever. We survived, twasn't easy. Deep breaths, walk away find a quiet spot - our room was sacred and long walks. It'll make you stronger but the path is long and at times tenuous/horrendous.
BUT you are all well warm fed and healthy. Do you have a date yet or shouldn't I ask? Can you take off in your 'van for a breather?0 -
Very still and slightly misty, horses quietly feeding quite ethereal really.
Write your comments here...We had a bit of fog last night after that heavy downpour whilst doing our last delivery.

Heard the Barn Owl last evening so went outside to just see it take off from the fence. Seen Herons around the estuary but not at farm. Sparrow hawk been active. Last day today so going to walk down estuary to sea. Artillery depot active yesterday with
a dozen to so explosions. The site closes at the end of this month, mores the pity!0 -

Quite some size those explosions at times aren't they? . Had forgotten about them so first one we heard, it was huge and shook the motorhome, caused some moments of contemplation!!. Beautiful walk you're taking today, wish I could join you, someone to confirm what I think I'm seeing on the wildlife front. Keep your blinds up at dusk and hopefully you'll see the barn owl swoop within inches of your 'van. Huge shame it closes, but even in Essex we have to have some damp periods and you wouldn't want to being Essex clay then . Maybe chat with owners to see if they'd consider allowing winter parking around the yard on the existing hard surfaces? Cheeky aren't I?

Happy 90th birthday to your Mum TG. I hope you all have a lovely lunch.
SELL We had our daughter and eldest grand-daughter living with us for nearly a year when her first marriage broke up. She decided to move back here and got a job straight away but had to sell their old house and buy another nearer to us. It was hard work
at times but we got a routine going and sometimes took off at weekends in the van to give us all a bit of space. I missed them when they left.0 -
I've just lost my post saying similar! Sell, my sister and brother in law have just had one of their sons and family with them. One of their survival techniques was retreating to their bedroom at 8pm, closing the door and escaping for part of the evening.
All over now, house found just in time for new baby arriving!Happy Birthday to your Mum TG, hope you all have a nice time.

The clouds have cleared, there's blue sky and the sun's out. What a change since earlier this morning! The sunshine is really bringing out the Autumn colours!

We are finishing off clearing up the last few bits of debris from two huge Leylandii, that had reached about 20 feet tall and we're totally beyond our control. Youngest son did the bulk of the hard work with his chain saw, although they had to come down in sections to avoid peripheral damage. The pile was huge but we hired an industrial shredder which made short work of it, if a bit messy. Much bagging and many dump runs later, it is now just about gone.

Happy Birthday to your Mum, TG. We had Dad's 90th celebrations back in September, one of the few occasions we've been able to get all 4 generations of the family together. A notable landmark, enjoy the day!

We got rid of ours a few years ago when they became unmanageable. It's quite a job isn't it Steve I bet you are glad you have
got it finished.0 -
actually having coffee at bottom of the garden, sun a bit patchy now but 30 mins ago very nice....
just a quick update on our pals' son who had the accident with the falling tree..
...he's been moved to Bath (from Bristol) which in itself signifies an improvement.....he can now move about in a wheelchair, no other physical effort allowed (walking with crutches) due to recover of the pinning of his pelvis.
he also wont be able to have any prosthetic for his leg for a while.....so pelvis recovery, then crutches, then work on the leg...
still slow (and pretty harrowing) progress, but progress all the same.
his gf who found him is very close and they are getting married (something to focus on) and will be moving in together on leaving the hospital.....
still having councelling to help with the trauma (and some nightmares, apparently) so a way to go.....but the direction (forwards) has been set and the path underway....
John Milton — 'Long is the way and hard, that out of Hell leads up to light.'
...Im sure now, with support, he'll make it....
his (step)mum round for coffee on Friday so will get a little more....

Good news BB. As you say a long way to go but it is going in the right direction. I hope he is going to get some hefty compensation to help with all the expenses which will incur for him to lead a good life.
