We've got quite strong swirling winds just now but they feel tropical!

It's now cooling down a bit and hopefully will be able to get off to sleep tonight. Perhaps another couple of glasses of vino will help.

Left work at lunchtime. Got home, put all conceivable air circualato and sat and did nothing. I am soo traumatised by the heat I have had to pour my second glass of Chardonnay.

Write your comments here...That's a good way of coping with the heat, Artyboo! Cheers, enjoy the Chardonnay!

Been out to Filey on the Yorkshire coast - a town that time seems to have forgot. Very few of the Kiss Me Kwik hats, arcades, fairgrounds, bingo halls etc - just simple family fun, a cracking beach and the Cobble landing - RNLI, a fish and chips shop, a
bar and a few cafes. Stunning weather that topped off at 32.5 C on the M62 on the way home!

It's still 30 celsius here in Worthing. Bright blue sky, blue sea and sunshine.

We went shopping at the Tesco Extra near the Northbrook Farm club site, filled the trolley with fresh meat and vegetables including a half leg of lamb for sale at 25% off.

We also bought some reduced price strawberries and a tub of mint choc chip ice cream. We had that for pudding when we got home. The strawberries and ice cream went well together. Nice way to chill in this hot weather.

Went to France for the day.....to stock up Laughing

Trouble is, it was simply too hot. Not at all comfortable. Had a drive along the coast to Boulogne, lovely bit of coastline, so that was nice, as was our picnic.

Second problem, Eurotunnel train was delayed by 2 hours coming back, one hour of which was spent sat on a hot and steamy train until they decided it had developed a fault and started to transfer us to another train (which took another hour). Anyone know
    what compensation is available?

Write your comments here...It should be ok in the car with the air-conditioning running, Ian, surely? I've been doing deliveries all afternoon in over 30 degrees celsius here in Worthing. It feels hot when you first get into the car but soon cools down once you're driving along.

Just write to them and ask, you might get a free/discounted crossing? The trouble is that a two hour delay is what they allow customers to arrive either side of their booking. So what is good for the goose etc, etc?

Oh for the days when the children were young and we had a dog so had an excuse to have the sprinkler on in the garden.  I don't think 2 pensioners can cavort about in their swimming things in the garden.Surprised

    Fair point, David.

Although have you noticed that, if you arrive early these days, you still only get the option of your booked crossing time? At one time, they would offer you the choice of earlier crossings.

Don't know what happens if you arrive late as we've never done so.

the few that had to hold the fort moved a few comfy chairs into the IT rooms, tuned their air con to full, ordered pizza and spent a very lazy day (at 18C  v 34C outside) putting
the world to rights, luckily we all managed to home before the kids started arriving back as well. But a better day tomorrow, finish at 12 for six weeks and 4 days. Why do I have a certain Alice Cooper song in my head?

Sweltering all day here, up to 32 degrees behind the house, where the sun never reaches.  Just far too hot.

Several fans going all day,  and all blinds down

Been working  on the windows, but could feel myself cooking due to the reflection off the glass, so had to wait till it clouded over a bit.

One session in the morning, one late afternoon, and one after dinner.  Just had some thunder and a downpour, so have retreated inside, going dark anyway.

Supposed to be wet tomorrow, so OH wants to go shopping.

Today she completed the Guide Hall accounts, so now she has asked me to enter up all the figures on the computer and print up the balance sheet.  At least I will get to sit down!

Lovely day today, mostly sunny but still with a lot of clouds. Did some work in the garden this monring, while OH made a start on cleaning the M/H. He managed to get all the roof done including the sky lights, they are awkward aren't they. Stopped for lunch and decided it was too nice to waste, so we got the bikes out and went into Perth to see my sister its a 14 mile round trip nice and easy lots of it now on cycle paths. Once back home we resumed work on the M/H this time me helping him with the sides. Its now looking nice and clean ready for us to go away at the weekend. Decided not to cut grass yet but to leave it another few days. Supposed to get thunder storms tonight so tomorrow no doubt we will be back to normal, summer over.Frown

No rain when we got up this morning although it had rained overnight. The skies went black around 10.30am so much that the street lights came back on. The the heavens opened and we had a deluge, thunder and lightening but not much, skies now light grey and
the rain has stopped. Great day for ironing so that's that done out of the way, also caught up with a few programmes that I'd recorded. Lunch time soon then OH off to physio to get his shoulder sorted (I'll go shopping) Wink
