Just popped in to say a quick Hello - sitting in the car while Carol has gone into Carrefour, Puget-sur-Argens. Taking the opportunity of using Carrefour's free Wi-fi for Internet. Off to St Tropez in a minute, just to see what it's like. Very hot here
(but I hear you have a good spell of weather this week in the UK also). I'm expecting one of those Provencial thunderstorms soon - maybe tomorrow. Good to read through all the news.David

The awning we had fitted to our new van - the Thule awning - was supplied and fitted by John Rose of Poole, Dorset. (Just Google 'Rose Awnings') They fit nation wide, and the installation is part of the cost. We bought ours at the NEC in February at the same time as the van. Raymond James liase with them to fit the awning before we collected the van. They came up from Poole to Atherstone (N.Warks) to do it, on a very tight timescale. John Rose is very good and I can recommend him. They will fit anywhere - including at the shows, or even at your home. I think they've fitted them on site before now. The version we had (the 6200) was 'bonded' to the side of the roof - no screws etc, so did not affect the warranty of the van.
Carol reckons it's the best awning we have had, ie, the easiest to put up, but, be warned, they don't come cheap!
We've only used the roof so far. As we were in Europe and expecting good weather, we didn't even take the sides with us, so I can't comment on the full thing with the sides in, as yet.
At our present site, we are amidst a load of pine trees, so I haven't even bothered putting the awning out. We have a mixture of sun and shade, and having put up an awning before amidst pine trees, I'm just a but weary of deposits of sap on the roof. We had one awning almost ruined by tree sap!!

spite of him being mid-installation. Hope you manage to catch up with him.David

We are the very proud grandparents of a graduate.
Congratulations Millie - would this be the grand daughter I drank a toast to on her 21st the other day? Seems like a good enough reason for an extra glass tonight too!

Yes the same one moulesy. Her life is full of celebrations at the moment.

Today is out last day at Penrhos on Anglesey. We went back to Bulk Bay to do the walk we had to abandon in the head the other day. And what a treat it was! Not only is the coastal scenery spectacular on that stretch but just at the end of our walk we saw a lot of dolphins playing just off the headland. I think there must have been fish around because we were also treated to a display of high speed dive bombing by a group of terms and gannets - a right I never grow tired of!
Moving in to Welshpool tomorrow to a site recommended to us and which we'd planned to visit last year but had to cancel twice when Harry picked up his foot infection and wasn't allowed long walks. The owners very kindly let us carry the deposit we'd paid forward so now we're looking forward to repaying that kindness!

Sounds wonderful moulesy and what a treat to see the dolphins.
We have been for a walk with our walking group today followed by the summer BBQ. Beautiful weather for it.

Its been another gorgeous day here very warm. We are having a BBQ tonight at our house we are going to be joined by my sister and family. Also we have to find time to pack the van as we are going away for the werkend tomorrow not far just local but I can't
wait hope the nice weather stays for the weekend0 -
We came home today.....a 260 mile drive back to Yorkshire. Still very warm, but not a problem in the car.
Strange thing......while reversing the caravan into its parking space at home, noticed that the rear, nearside light cluster lens was smashed. Upon closer inspection, there were scuff marks on the rear corner of the caravan, the awning rail had been twisted
and a slither of wood was lodged in it.We haven't been anywhere that we could have hit a post, MrsH didn't see anything while checking the lights prior to setting off and I didn't see any damage on my walk-around at our halfway stop to water tbe horses.
Most strange.......and about £60 to replace the light cluster, it seems

JVB. No not high tech, quite the opposite - Drama and the Performing Arts. Hopes to do her PGCE in a couple if years in order to teach. Best of luck to your grand-daughter with her results. It is quite a stressful time of year with so many young people waiting
for their results. I like the idea that she has already been to the University of Hertfordshire0 -

the few that had to hold the fort moved a few comfy chairs into the IT rooms, tuned their air con to full, ordered pizza and spent a very lazy day (at 18C v 34C outside) putting
the world to rights, luckily we all managed to home before the kids started arriving back as well. But a better day tomorrow, finish at 12 for six weeks and 4 days. Why do I have a certain Alice Cooper song in my head?Write your comments here...Very sensible, Corners. I can never understand how anyone can live without air con in this heat! I have it set to 15 degrees celsius in the car and 16 degrees in the caravan when its 33 outside.
...each to their own Malcolm, I wouldn't want aircon in the van. If we have it in accomodation when away in hotels/villas/cruise ships etc. we either turn it off or have it around 20c any colder and its too cold for comfort.
Write your comments here...That's ok if you're sedentary, Tammygirl. However, if you are actively doing things, you are burning energy which makes you feel hotter, hence the need for a lower temperature in those circumstances.
Malc its called acclimatizing if you don't allow your body to get used to the rise and fall in temperatures its not healthy. As to a sedentary
life, what's that. I will have plenty of time to be still when I'm dead. The reason I'm soooo late in my response is that I've been a bit active today. First I made the beds, cleaned the bathroom, hoovered throughout the house, washed the kitchen and bathroom floors on hand and knees. Put the washing machine on, made a banana
loaf (bananas gone soft) hung out the washing. Time for a cuppa at 11.30. Then strimmed the grass edges OH cut the grass, I then hoed all the garden beds. Lunch (which I made). This afternoon I cleaned all the windows and frames outside, played football with
the little boy next door, then made him 3 windmills out of plastic bottles. Dinner which I cooked.Sedentary I think you will find is more your thing not mine

I think Tammy is the most 'active'person that posts on here. She never seems to be still!!
We are the very proud grandparents of a graduate.
Congratulations Millie, it seems a long time since our sons graduated, its a great feeling isn't it.

Relocated to Cae Mawr today after three nights of digital purdah at Much Wenlock. No wifi and one G phone signal. It was hot work going round the Ironbridge museums over the past couple of days.

Yesterday was warm and humid, but not so sunny. Did some work on the windows before going to Ikea and M&S with OH.
Today was hot. Had my hair cut, it's pensioners day today, OH says I have gone from looking like a Dulux dog to resembling a shorn sheep!
Then to Waitrose as we had a £10 off voucher. Lots of "3 for 2" and "3 for £10" offers, so freezer and fridge now well stocked.
Later I did a couple of hours on the windows....almost finished the repairs on the downstairs ones now.
Phone call from the honeymooners to check I was remembering to pick them up at the airport at 07.30 on Saturday. They are in Las Vegas now and suffering in the heat.....42C!!

Another lovely morning, not too warm yet, took the dog out early when it's cooler for him.
It feels like it's been a long week, I suppose it's because it was first week back after the holiday,
Have now got a huge pile of ironing to get through, I have a feeling my iron is on the blink as it tripped the rcd my
excuse for not getting it all done.Haven't any plans for the weekend, just relaxing at home. Have a great weekend everyone!
