Wow, that was one humdinger of a storm we had through the night. Chucking it down with rain and thunder and lightning like you rarely hear/see!

Fortunately, on the boy's side of the van Harry and I were sleeping through it; unfortunately, over in the girl's quarters Lady was getting a bit tetchy keeping Mrs M awake so we had to put a light on before she'd settle and go to sleep, poor little love
    (Lady, that is!)

Today has dawned bright but cooler; having a lazier day after yesterday's exertions. A stroll round the reservoir just down the road, a spot of food shopping to keep us going for the next few days and a potter round Lligwy Bay this afternoon. Happy

Had to nip into CMK this morning to get some Norwegian Krone in readiness for our Fjords Cruise on the Brittania leaving from Southampton on Saturday. Also went to WH Smiths for a guide book on Norway for a bit of background information as WiFi on board cruise ship is usually pretty expensive so back to old fashioned methods.

Met up with some friends we met many years ago on a french camp site. Had a lovely day on the Great Central Railway - we all like heritage railways. Lovely weathe , bright sunshine but a bit cooler than the last couple of days. Started to rain just as we
got home but didn't amount to much so might sfill have to do some watering in the garden.

Still warm and dry here, having to water things from a hose, all our rain water butts and containers have dried out. Combining has just started...., tractors and trailers everywhere....just when you thought it was safe to go out!Wink

We had a storm early this morning but it was all noise and not much rain. That is probably why it has still been pretty hot again.Undecided

The upside of this heatwave is that we save money by not needing the central heating on.Smile

The downside is that I have to change my shirt and have a shower every two or three days instead of weekly.Tongue Out

Clouded over about 10 and was a much more comfortable 22 degrees.

Had a drive along tbe south coast. Not impressed.

Hythe......where did they hide the sea front?  Dymchurch......dump. New Romney......unremarkable.

We ended up going to Lydd Airport for a sandwich for lunch. I once flew into here en-route to Le Touquet to file a flight plan. A really well equiped airfield, but seems to be greatly under-used.

Why do they keep going on about needing a new runway at Heathrow or Gatwick, when there are already excellent facilities at Lydd and Manston (if brought back into use) with massive capacity?

the few that had to hold the fort moved a few comfy chairs into the IT rooms, tuned their air con to full, ordered pizza and spent a very lazy day (at 18C  v 34C outside) putting the world to rights, luckily we all managed to home before the kids started arriving back as well. But a better day tomorrow, finish at 12 for six weeks and 4 days. Why do I have a certain Alice Cooper song in my head?

Write your comments here...Very sensible, Corners. I can never understand how anyone can live without air con in this heat! I have it set to 15 degrees celsius in the car and 16 degrees in the caravan when its 33 outside.

Write your comments here...Come back to Worthing, Ian. It's been sunny all afternoon. No clouds and lovely sunset here on Northbrook Farm club site as I type this. I saw people walking back from the beach into the town centre with towels wrapped around them after having been swimming in the sea.

...each to their own Malcolm, I wouldn't want aircon in the van. If we have it in accomodation when away in hotels/villas/cruise ships etc. we either turn it off or have it around 20c any colder and its too cold for comfort.

Write your comments here...That's ok if you're sedentary, Tammygirl. However, if you are actively doing things, you are burning energy which makes you feel hotter, hence the need for a lower temperature in those circumstances.

Catching upon on this thread whilst have few moments!  I'd forgotten how much time can be taken up by one tiny human .  Eldest granddaughter off to daycare grandad and mum took her, grandma in charge of baby. Grandad and daughter off to DIY store before
coming back, grandma planned another curtain at least today plus washing as nice day here, 16c cold southerly breeze but good drying. Six hours without active granddaughter should get heaps done without our helper!!!  No such luck, baby fed by mum before they
left, bottle of mum's milk left just in case. Only managed cuddles, changes, to give a bottle, plenty of walking about juggling baby.  Two hours felt like a lifetime . Baby still unsettled after all grown ups had a turn, more feed.  Just about managed our
lunch, more changes, daughter went out about 2pm for walk with squawking baby. Peace reigns in the house, washing sorted, couple of small jobs completed . Mum and bubs due back very soon and it's off to collect toddler from daycare and onto the chiropractor
for baby.  Mum and baby back, pushchair empty, mum carrying. Baby in bassenet for a mo, but we have to leave in twenty minutes .  Can't think why were tired at the end if the day haha.  Off to get washing in and fold before grandma has to drive to pick up
    etc.

Glad to hear you're enjoying spectacular weather and storms and keeping busy.  Can't believe we've been here for a week, that means only seven left

Beautiful morning, lost the intense heat so feels much better, Smile dog happy as took the ball on his walk this morning as cooler. Although
now arm covered in nettle stings Sad as had to retrieve it from edge of the park in the nettles, ball dropped when he spotted a squirrel, it
then rolled off down the hill.

Good to hear your news Bakers2,  babies certainly keep you busy!
