New Booking System

A big section join so that they can rally with other members, probably the cheapest option on offer for anyone with a van (apart from free stays elsewhere.) The centre organisations contribute quite a lot to the social side of vanning and they are the ones who probably attend most of the meetings concerning CAMC as an organisation. I don't know what rally members think of the new booking system, I presume they don't have to use the new system to group book sites?!

What a mess!
Trying to find details of sites is now impossible, the late availability page does not give any real information, trying to find your way around the web site is a nightmare. The old site was much easier to use and gave more information.
The new one looks as if it was created by first week students, I hope no one was paid to create such a mess.

Exactly, I simply can't use the new app (or website which seems to be the same thing) for anything other than knowing what site I want and when, unusable for browsing areas. Much easier to use Search4sites or UKcampsites and then phone cl/cs or independent sites but having the map open in front of you is much better for planning a tour.

Totally agree. I've tried using the system regularly, to try it out, but it's obvious that it's device specific, as to whether it works well. I've read posts from people who say it works fine on their device; unfortunately it doesn't on my tablet (Samsung - Android) and phone (Nokia- Android). That's not use, what's the point of a system that only works on certain devices?
I too have read suggestions of searching for a site by name, that's not much use if you're looking somewhere you're not familiar with. I want to be able to browse an area.
I never did receive the email asking whether I wanted a paper copy of the directory; however, I did find that by going into My Profile, it's also there, so made sure it was set to receive a paper copy.

another member told me that it works well on windows 11 or the latest iPad, I have neither of them, so I don't know myself

Well my OH decided to have a look at the new booking system and late availability and his words are not repeatable on here as retired IT he was not impressed so much should have been done before it was rolled out, so will not be looking at it again just glad I did next years bookings through the call centre.

I use an up to date IPad. The booking website works, but it’s a very longwinded procedure. I have only browsed the odd Club Site, trying to gauge availability, searching for CLs isn’t good at all. Not booked a Site so no idea of how well things work beyond browsing.
I have no issues with any other websites on my iPad. It’s the Club’s set up that doesn’t work well.

Also using an up to date iPad TDA and I honestly can’t see there is a problem with anything but trying to run a filtered search. Searching for a CL in an area of the UK on the database works, although clearly the information supplied by the booking site is deficient. Finding and booking a site is easy and although a little long winded, particularly the dates of birth, doesn’t take more than 5 minutes. That includes inputting card details, which of course was not required before.
I appreciate this isn’t true for all devices and is not even the case for older Apple products. This new booking system does seem to require a reasonable amount of system memory and a decent processor, otherwise it just stutters. Unfortunately the CC aren’t unique in this respect, it was the reason I replaced my iPad, the old one still works fine. It just does not run quite a few things,

I find that the new club booking system ,is far to complicated . The seems to be a lot of flowery things like maps . Lets take to booking for Ferries. The first is routes ,you have to put a destination in for Portsmouth ,because there are so many. But for few others no need .
Now when entering dates ,this is very flaky, Don't know why the APPLY was added.,. Just select start date ,and enter in the box and then end/ return date . Why we have to have that calendar display .It some times confuses itself and swaps the start and return dates .
If you interrupt the start and return entries by moving the screen ,it seems to get lost for a while .
This used to be the easiest website to use for booking anything ,it now appears to be not so
I think it is still the beta system needs more testing .

Cawsey, Please don’t try and over simplify booking a ferry.by omitting the destination. It’s surely wise when you are booking a ferry from Dover to say whether you are going to Calais or toDunkirk, from Plymouth to Roscoff or toSantander, homeward from Cherbourg to Poole or to Portsmouth, homeward from Roscoff to Plymouth or to Cork - and the rest Irish routes are a complete spiders web.

I have just received an email from the club about the new booking system, they have said what browser am I using, they state I should be using google chrome.
When Microsoft launched windows 10 they brought in Microsoft edge far superior then internet explorer, and far superior to Google, I don't think they know what is wrong themselves, I think the new system is designed for windows 11, and not fully compatible for older version
I have also just tried using Google chrome and it was worse

They should’ve asked Amazon to build the new system, I use-Samsung tab & phone, iPad & iphone, plus Google pixel phone to order stuff & every item comes within 24hrs👍🏻. Amazon IT services. . .That’ll do nicely👍🏻😉

…..or Tesco…..three clicks and I can fill my basket with hundreds of products, get substitutions, pay remotely, and get special offers🤭😁

I just think there are so many variables here. As for browsers, lots of people use Firefox. It should be compatible with all main browsers.
The trial bookings I have made on a desk top running windows 8.1 and chrome seem to work fine. With the provisos that I picked site and dates, didn’t search and didn’t finally book, so may have gone haywire at that point.
Still lots of other things wrong however.
We have very standard internet speeds, no fibre, no fast internet.
Not being particularly knowledgeable about the inner workings of sites I do wonder is amount of traffic on the site as a whole is causing some of the issues for people.

I use Chrome as my go to browser on my Windows 10 Dell desktop and the website seems to work fine for me. Like Brue I have only done trial runs and I have not encountered a problem. I do have a fibre connection but its only FTTC so nothing fancy. I always use a wired connection rather than WiFi which seems to give a more consistent connection. The website should work on any browser. Although I have never got on with Edge, personally prefered IE which I used for years.
As an aside, when the mods had a day at Club HQ to test the original forum they were using Firefox as their standard browser but I imagine they may have changed by now?

On >this page< using the booking pop up, when I try to input dates to do a search the scroll bars do not function to change the month. I am using windows 10 and Firfox, does it work ok with Chrome?
It works fine on my Android V12 tablet!

I had a quick look Peedee and you have to scroll up and down not sideways if that's any help, but that's Android 12.
I'm not looking at the booking site any more( if it's avoidable,) a lot of us have " tested " it and there are still errors and navigation issues.
One thing I've noticed is the flurry of CAMC complaints on the C&CC Trust Pilot site...what a pity that some dive in before checking which site they are on. The C&CC I hope will wake up and notice why their ratings are going down .....🙄

Thanks for feedback Goldie and Brue, never thought of using the wheel to scroll. I do get the same result as you when I do. The other booking pages do not use scroll bars to change the date and work perfectly ok clicking on the arrows.
I have twice reported this page fault to the Club. It would probably be easier to remove the popup or make it passive. I don't see it is required?

Re your last paragraph Brue…. I noticed the same a couple of weeks ago, some folks are definitely confused when reviewing some things. Unlike the CAMC, the CCC have solved their Trustpilot negativity quite simply……….
They don’t care🤣
